Rotary President Yinka Babalola: Why Showing Up Helps End Polio

Rotary International President Yinka Babalola explains why he traveled to northern Nigeria, against advice, to help stop wild polio.
As a club president, Babalola worked to strengthen advocacy and raise awareness of polio. Before Nigeria was declared free of wild polio, cases were rising in the north. Many people warned him not to go because of the security risks. But he had lived and studied in the region and understood the communities there. He explains why progress starts with trust, and why trust is built by showing up, listening, and finding common ground.
Today, wild poliovirus remains in only two countries: Afghanistan and Pakistan. President Yinka shares why Rotary and its partners are closer than ever to eradication, and why members will keep working until every child is protected.
