The Boy in the Photo: The Beginning of Rotary's Mission to End Polio

Rotary International

In 1979, a two year old named Allan Evangelista received one of the first drops of the oral polio vaccine in the Philippines as part of a historic Rotary-supported immunization campaign. Nearly five decades later, an unexpected discovery reconnects Allan and his family with that important moment in history.

Through family memories, archival footage, and an emotional journey back to where it all began, this video tells the story of how one small moment became part of a global movement to end polio. Today, Rotary and its partners continue working toward a world where no child has to suffer from polio again.
