The big news today was that Jalen Hurts will miss
the rest of the 2026 season for the Philadelphia Eagles.
Now they have found multiple clots in his lungs.
This is a wild story going on here.
So it was reported, and I've told you guys, we do a sports show,
on Jacob Sports two to six Eastern Time in Philadelphia,
and it's based in Philly, and we talk a lot of Eagles.
The storyline is wild here.
So they practiced him. They got on an airplane.
They traveled all the way to England. And when
they landed, they ended up looking and doing an ultrasound on his calf.
He had been complaining
about an injury from the Rams game on his calf.
Well, the ultrasound showed up and it showed that
there was a blood clot.
They took him to the hospital where he sat for four hours. Then on
top of that, they told them, listen, on that plane flight,
don't sleep because it could facilitate
that clot to go deeper. So help me out here.
And again, I'm not a doctor. I'm just playing
one on TV here. So it was not okay to sleep,
but it was okay to play a football game,
a four-hour football game,
and then get on an airplane and travel back and then practice
Monday Wednesday that's when they initially did the second ultrasound
and found it and shut him
down for the upcoming game that he just missed against
the Panthers listen i don't know anything
about procedures i don't know what the protocol
is i'm sure the NFL Players Association is going
to be all over this because no question Nicole Lynn
from Clutch Sports the president of Clutch
Sports has theoretically shut him down for the remainder
of the season they didn't get the proper
information that they were needing from the Eagles
and from the league on this so they just decided
2026 is over for Jalen Hurts this is a peculiar place for the Eagles
and Jalen Hurts and Clutch
Sports there's only 20 million dollars
that is guaranteed on his contract moving forward
there's no way on the planet that Nicole Lynn
is going to allow Jalen Hurts to go into a 2027
season, not having a new contract extension.
And many people were talking in Philadelphia,
if this is even the future of where Philly wants
to go is with Jalen Hurts. What a tough situation
because right now with the body of work that he has put in 2026,
that man is not a $60 million
a year player. So what decisions you have to make there?
Now on top of that, Nick Sirianni status.
You know, I think everything has a shelf life.
Bill Walsh, the great Hall of Fame coach with the 49ers,
used to have a comment and say, hey, I think coaches last nine years.
Or you can even think maybe even less,
because the voices in the room stopped listening
to the main voice in the room.
And that could be where we are now.
Let's not, you know, pump the brakes here
and look at how the Eagles have operated in the past.
They fired Andy Reid.
They fired a Super Bowl champion coach in Doug Peterson.
Nick Sirianni is also in that conversation.
And one thing that is now being exposed with both Jalen Hurts
and with Nick Sirianni, that roster's not very good.
Howie Roseman, the last two years, has missed on numerous draft picks
and, on top of that, free agents.
John Campbell's not looking like the first-round pick
everyone thought coming out of Alabama,
that he was going to make the impact.
It's been a downgrade, them moving off of Nick Obi Dean.
Dean's out in Las Vegas kicking ass right now.
The situation with Jonathan Grenard,
He's in and out of the lineup.
This organization right now is in flux.
What is the future going to be for both Jalen Hurts and Nick Sirianni?
Could they potentially not be both back starting the 27th season?
There is a great chance that that may happen.
Maybe one of them doesn't come back.
Are you really going to start all over again?
How many coordinators has Hurts had since he's been in Philadelphia?
Six?
and now you're going to have another head coach
with a whole new system?
Each and every single year,
we have gone through this process.
I would say this to you.
The quarterback is a unique player.
Is he an elite player?
He's not.
He's unique.
He's got a different set of tools in his box
that he can go to and how he wins games.
Is he going to sit back and dissect secondaries?
Is he going to be a Joe Burrow?
is he going to be a Josh Allen?
He's not that kind of player. But the one thing that he is,
he's smart and he can win football games.
And his resume speaks to it. Remember,
the things that Jalen Hurts has done already in Philly, he's been paid.
Is he the next and is
that the future of the Philadelphia Eagles?
Is that where Philly wants to land and take off
with that quarterback? And is Nick Sirianni part of that?
These next couple of weeks are going to
Tell us a lot about both.
By the way, Godspeed to Jalen Hurts and his health.
