First up tonight, video you just have to see to believe
a suspected drunk driver is facing charges after police say she crashed
into an ambulance early Sunday morning on Main Street in Bayshore.
Take a look at this. Police say it happened around 2:15 Sunday morning.
This security video showing an ambulance
with its lights on blocking part of the street.
Employees from nearby bars say they originally came outside
after people reported seeing a man slumped over on the street.
sidewalk. Police say they were loading
an injured 26-year-old man into the ambulance
when a Honda Accord came down the road and crashed into the ambulance.
And then out of nowhere, we heard a little,
more of a thud than a crash. And my boss,
as a father, was like, we should check that out.
You know, he knows a thud means nothing good.
So we went out and the car was just completely t-boned,
like completely sideways into the
ambulance. Now police say another ambulance came
to bring to the man to the hospital. We are told
he has non-life-threatening injuries.
That bar employee we spoke with says the driver of the
Honda ran into the crowd
and was trying to get away before police found her. Police identified
her as 32-year-old Edith Cairo.
She was arrested for DWI and arraigned on Sunday.
