Free Brookhaven International Festival at Brookhaven Park

Let's get into a festival happening soon here in Brookhaven. We know that many people will be getting out this fall season. A lot of festivals happening, and this is just one of them. Our Eli Jordan joins us live now from Brookhaven. And Eli, I see the tents are up. The event hasn't started just yet, but people are getting ready for this. Oh, yeah, yeah, getting ready. Good morning, Jasmine. Yeah, getting ready for a nice day today. Yesterday, it was windy and gusty, and that caused all sorts of problems. And I think it even canceled. one other festival just down the ways a little bit but uh i'm here in Brookhaven for the fourth annual Brookhaven International Festival it's at Brookhaven Park and uh they open up at 11 a.m but you know you've got vendors out here and they also have international chalk artists here but right now i am with uh one of the uh organizers here with Olivia Dorsey how you doing Olivia i'm good how are you i'm doing all right so tell me uh how did yesterday go real quick yeah yesterday went pretty well. You know, we had some rough winds, so we had to take down our bouncy houses at our kid zone. Bouncy houses? You had to take them down? I hope you have. You should have bouncy houses today, I'm thinking. Yes. But you can't have those winds with the bouncy houses. Yes, and we're going to watch the winds today, but if we don't, you know, and we're going to try to get our bouncy houses up. But we also have fun activities like a petting zoo and face painters for kids to enjoy. That'll be really cool. But right now, though, these guys are in here early. These are your international chalk artists that were uh brought here by the uh Brookhaven Art and Cultural Commission uh getting some uh hardcore really nice fancy chalk art going on this is a treat right here i mean these guys are really good Olivia oh yeah they're amazing and so uh how many do we have out here and how long i guess these are they're gonna be out here all day correct yes they're gonna be out here all day and we have um five out here today um but we have six in total six in total and so but you've got more than just chalk artists here we got all sorts of stuff going on up here we got vendors what all kind of vendors what can people expect if they come out here to the uh brookhaven international festival yeah of course so we have a vibrant um artist market with about uh maybe like about up to 40 different vendors um we have an awesome um like food area we got a couple of food trucks different uh cuisine we have argentinian food tacos uh bubble tea a little something for everybody and can we get a uh so it's sunday morning can i go ahead and get a um a bloody mary and a mimosa going on over here you're gonna probably have to wait till 11 but you most definitely can get it so we got adult beverages here yeah and uh but uh also though uh you got you got kids stuff we're gonna have the kids zone and uh hopefully have some bouncy houses right yes hopefully and so this is the whole scene right here this is what you got all the vendors got to set up around in the perimeter and i see a nice big stage over there what kind of uh tunes and entertainment can we expect on the big stage yeah we got a lot of fun acts lined up for today um with our headliner being this k-pop group that we uh flew in from um korea they are drop um headlining at 5 p.m okay you got k-pop going on Yes, but you got all sorts of different of I guess international stuff flamenco music things like that Yes, all different types of international acts lined up So again, you guys don't open it up until 11 and so everybody's still coming here getting set up gonna be setting up So how long does how long does a this you know festival go on for Olivia festival goes on till about six? And then so I mean is there gonna be entertainment going on all day long. Oh, yeah Yeah, we have lined up from pretty much like 11.15 up till the last headliner at like probably 5.45. All right, so I see the food trucks here. They're getting all fired up, getting the grills hot and all that. So what kind of foods can we expect? Yes, we got a bunch of different foods. We got bubble tea, Argentinian food, tacos, like Asian noodles, all different types of cuisines. Anything for vegetarians? Yes, we definitely have some vegetarian options. Awesome, awesome. Now, we can bring our kids. Those are okay. What about dogs? Oh, yeah. You can bring your dogs, as long as they're on leashes. Cool, cool. Very cool. And, I mean, this whole nice little pasture here, this is going to be, you've got shade trees over here. You've got a nice open area here. I mean, this is a nice little setting for a festival. I've never been down hanging out at Brookhaven Park. So, I'm just kind of getting a feel. We'll walk around a little bit more and check it out. But, so, this is going on until 6 p.m. today, and it's free, correct? Yes, it is free. And you guys do have a lot of vendors, a lot of tents popping up around here. up here on this little knoll where you can escape from the heat and chill and relax they got picnic tables here they got benches this seems like it's going to be a pretty good festival once it gets cranked up oh yes it is we're expecting lots of folks lots of fans and folks can bring blankets lawn chairs whatever they need to kind of get settled this is really nice really nice so and as far as parking goes parking you might be a little bit of a challenge but you guys have free parking and a free shuttle correct yes so we have parking at the Latin American Association And if folks want to ride share with MARTA, we have two shuttles running from Latin American Association and the MARTA stop at Apple Valley Road. So that's really cool. So this will be packed out. This is an all-way. We've got the bouncy houses way over there. Yes. Perfect. So we've got the kids' zones, the petting zoo going on over there. We've got the chalk artists over there. The vendors are getting set up. We're going to have kids' beverages and adult beverages over there. And they're going to have bubble tea, all sorts of nice international stuff. and then entertainment all day long. Come on out to the Brookhaven International Festival.
