BY SPECIAL REQUEST
Well, we have a birthday girl.
It
probably
are.
Somebody gave me the number.
I'm sure I've forgotten.
There are 1.5 million
birthdays every day.
But the only ones we really care about are the
ones celebrated by the people we know and love.
So, we had a special request just
a few moments ago.
I went into the Father Fish show and was looking
around at the messages, and I saw one from Miyagi Fish.
He said, today is my wife's birthday,
my wife's birthday, and I want to make
her very happy, and I have a request to you.
Could you make a short video with a happy birthday wish
and release it on your YouTube channel?
And when it's posted, give me a message here and I will surprise her.
Well, I decided to go one better than that.
I decided to do a live stream,
birthday stream for Simona and Andrea.
Happy birthday to you, happy birthday
to you, happy birthday dear Simona,
happy birthday to you, and many, many,
many, many, many, many, many more.
Well, that's great fun.
I hope you're there, Simona, and I hope you're,
this will, this will be available for posterity.
uh it will be once we sign off uh it will be available
as a live stream uh in in the historical
record on our channel so you will be able to go back again
and again and again and wish simona
a happy birthday now let's see who's here and what
do you got to say for yourself ricky let's
Orange Fur. Hello, you're in.
Juriel Cabrera.
Jurielly. Jurielly.
Cabrera.
Yes yes.
Wonderful.
Who else? Silver Creek.
Hey, Silver Creek.
Ricky Criddleball.
Dave.
Markio 306.
Dirk Meyer from Berlin, Germany.
We gotta give Dirk a wrench.
Turn you blue.
Right there, it was on Andrew, there was that Dirk there.
was Dirk, Oscar Jungle Tank is here, hello
Hello 3G, you're very
Welcome Miagi, I'm Drew
Gilbert, somebody else needs
a wrench, ta-da, good that's
wonderful, delighted, he's happy, it's nice to make
a lovely young lady, happy 38, yeah that's young
I'm 82. So I'm not young anymore.
But I'm getting younger. I'm 82.
I'll be I'll be 83 in two months.
And I'm getting younger by the day.
Wonderful. Tommy's here. Where's Tommy?
I didn't see Tommy. Caleb Shirley.
Hey, Caleb. Excellent. Okay.
Um, let's see. While I got y'all here, a little news.
We are, we are, um, I don't know what word to use.
Revamping, restructuring, reorganize.
After hitting 50,000, we realized
that we have a responsibility for quality.
Quality in the production of what we're doing.
We've had people bugging us,
bugging me for years about improving quality.
So here's the first step.
We just bought a brand new, very expensive camera,
which we're not using right now, but
will be on all of our videos.
We are going from two videos a week to one a week,
and we're going to put more effort
into it and make it something quite special.
So hopefully you will see
a substantial improvement in the quality
and the content of our videos going forward.
This next video is about breeding egg
scatterers in a natural aquarium.
There are a million ways to do this, but we decided after
asking members of our Father Fish show to submit videos
to us about their experience breeding egg scatterers,
we began to see that the most effective ones were those people
who have food webs in a deep substrate.
So that's what we're going to feature is how to breed
egg scatterers and raise their babies in the same tank,
a community tank, with a food web and a deep substrate.
This will be interesting.
It will be published, I think,
I'm not sure, we haven't picked a date yet.
It'll be this weekend.
It could be Sunday, it probably will be Sunday.
There is that.
We will be doing four shorts a week.
What we are discovering
is that shorts bring new people to our channel.
Almost all of the new folks that are coming
in have found us through the shorts.
So we're going to be doing one short a day,
four days a week, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday.
And then Sunday, we will have our new video,
and we will have, of course, the live stream.
And there's always the chance that something like this will happen,
and we'll surprise everybody by popping in with a happy birthday
or an announcement.
And it will be completely unannounced, unpremeditated,
spontaneous, and available only to those special people
who have an ear tuned and an eye peaked,
looking out and listening for Father Fish.
Yeah, shorts are interesting, Ari and Fer.
I didn't think much of it for a while.
It's not worth anything in terms of views particularly,
but it reaches a lot of new people.
And that's what we need, is to reach new people.
So it's a guaranteed way to do it.
So that we're real excited about.
Howard Van Tassel is here.
And his family
And Daniel's Malawi cichlids.
Letting nature do it.
Correct.
I guess I gave you that.
a wrench. It'll pop up soon.
We will see more big fish videos, Ariane says.
Well, yeah, I'm thinking
about this. Here's the problem.
I live in a 20 by 20 foot cubicle.
It's a tiny cottage that I moved
into in order to get from Florida to Maryland
to give me a place to land. Things have been cracking
since I've been here.
Income has been increasing, I'm hoping, by the end of the year. We're
anticipating by the end of the year being at 100,000 views.
At the rate we're going, we can do
it. We're doing 2,000,
about 2,000 subscribers a week.
That's astounding. That's 8,000, 7 to 8,000
a month. So in six months, we could be at another 50,000.
So that's the game plan. We'll see how
it all works out. But if that happens,
if the store continues to grow and income continues to
grow, I will have the resources to be able to buy a country home.
The plan is to buy
one of these wonderful old Eastern Shore country homes
with some land to move some family members
in with me to build a double-paned glass greenhouse
with large vats and large tanks.
Once that happens, I already know the fish
that are going in the first 2,000-gallon tank.
And they will be in a tank that will be deep substrate,
heavily planted with no significant water change.
There will be at least half a dozen two-foot fish in that tank.
You can make suggestions. I already have a few. Happy to get them.
So there's a dream and a vision. That could happen.
That could happen next year. And that's my plan.
I'm 82 years old. I can't afford to mess around.
I'm doing what I have to do to regain my strength and stamina.
I'm on a brand new food plan
that I've lost 15 pounds in the first 10 days.
My insulin use has dropped in half.
My medications are decreasing.
I'm feeling stronger and healthier than I have in years.
If I can keep this up until the end of the year,
I will have the body of a 40-year-old.
That's low as I need to get 40.
So that's the plan.
Lots of exciting things for the future.
And you are the first to know about it all.
So isn't that exciting?
And that's my birthday gift to our birthday girl.
God bless you all.
What else is going on?
Let's try to keep up with everybody.
Ramir Abugo Ramir Abugo

well put it in your garden

hello, DJ Guppyfish Miami saying hello, no
heaters needed, nice trim, happy, thank you,
I'm working on it, it's getting there, isn't
it, I actually bought a razor,
haven't known a razor in 15 years, I bought one of those
fancy five-blade jobs, which are harder to cut yourself on.
I think. I trust. I hope. We'll see.
44 watching and only 20 likes.
Now, now, now, now. Vibes.
Christian Schmidt is here. I got
Monte Carlo rooting in soil below two inches.
Bravo. Bravo, Christian. Roots,
roots and carpet plush. Wow. Too cool. Too cool.
No filter. Crystal clear. All right. Boy, I got
flies in this place. Foxy says Peplum
and I will be zending at our first show ever this weekend,
the Catfish Cataclysm. Oh, that's wonderful.
I'm real excited for you. Do well. Be magnificent.
sell everything bring nothing back i'm going
to be at the Keystone Clash in September anybody who
can make that look forward
to seeing you there christmas
in july says rocks got that one angel
chill try the white worm culture i'll tell you i
found out something interesting i tried it with
Uh, uh, box potatoes doesn't work.
It's too thick. Uh, rice works real well.
Oatmeal is the preferred material. I really like rice.
Um, if you go to a Chinese carry out and get a, get a, buy
a quart, buy a quart container of plain white cooked rice.
bring it home put let it cool put some some
yeast baker's yeast on top just a thin layer
and then your starter white worm culture put
a lid on it try to get one of those i'm going to
sell some i got a bunch here those uh perforated lids
that have a fine mesh on them i've could put
that on and then once a week sprinkle more yeast.
I had one a couple of years ago that went for
almost a full year without needing anything done
to it except what I just suggested. I tried the
potato and it dried out. It just it doesn't work.
So I'm going to scrap that and start over with
with rice because i really need
a culture i'm finally getting all my tanks together
i had a friend over today
who cleaned i bought a i bought a wet vac and when that wet vac
all the duckweed out all the duckweed is gone
the little bit that's going to be still there
we'll be able to keep up with i'm replanting all
of the tanks deciding what to do with which
um it's going to be nuts i'm
excited about it so what else
what else what else caleb is here
charlie r for a 400 gallon concrete pond how deep
the certain sand i would not do dirt i would just
do sand and the reason is in an outdoor pond you're going to get
so much coming in that you
don't need to do dirt it'll it'll
be there you'll have leaves blowing into it
you'll have dust falling into it you'll have
the wind blowing dirt in it of all
kinds of insects falling falling into it don't
do dirt just do like fort it's uh
if you can I don't know how deep it
is 400 gallons if it should be 250 four to
six inches of sand four inches is adequate start with four
and then over the years you can add
more sand to build it up in order to keep them all down
but don't don't don't bother to put dirt in
it it's just one more thing to hassle over
and you really don't need it you can start with three
inches. Just plan on adding an inch at a time,
basically once a year. You won't need to do that
forever. For the first two or three years,
and then maybe year five and year ten. So give that
a go. See if it works better. Good idea.
I need to get one of those crackling fans. Get rid of
the flies. Good idea.
Who else is here? Oh, there he is.
You've got your wrench poor old crabs
Doobie doo. Whoops. Any advice on leeches?
Just on tiny white leeches and et cetera.
Of the, let's just, as an arbitrary number,
if there are a hundred species of leech,
two are problematic. The rest are detritus eaters.
Unless it has a diamond head, it is not anything
to worry about. It will not, however, kill anything,
with the possible exception of shrimp.
I have heard people say that it attacks shrimp,
and if it breaks that shell, they can certainly
die um if it attaches to a fish just pull it off catch them
with a net use your tweezers
and pull them off easy enough bristle nose had
a group of babies a couple months ago but not
another any ideas i'll tell you what tj fish
are funny that way they they will probably spawn
And if Roxy is here, she and Peplum would know better than me.
But if you keep them with their babies,
they're not going to spawn as often
because all they're looking for is to get a family going.
They may spawn again in six months to a year.
If you take the babies out or take them out
and put them in a separate tank,
they're more likely to spawn again sooner.
Make sure you keep the female egged up.
Keep them well fed.
Tavarega.
Hello from Romania.
Hello, Tav.
We've got to give Tav a ring.
Ad as moderator.
You are turned blue, Tav.
Yep.
3G.
Brian and, yeah, Sam Fox, you and Brian, hug each other for me.
Amen to that.
Amen to that.
Hello from the Nook,
says Jungle Nook.
Foxy posted her link.
Be sure to go there.
Be sure to go to Get Guilds and find their store
and buy some fish from them.
They've got lovely, lovely stuff.
And they do a very, very special job of shipping.
So you're not going to have any problem at all.
Andrew Gilbert says,
What plants do good with painted turtles?
Oh, dear God.
Well, I've got kind of painted turtles.
What does really well with turtles is lots of plants.
If you put one or two sprigs in there,
they're going to eat them down to the nub.
If you put 50 to 100, it'll be more than they can handle.
You may need to replace after a while, but if you put enough in,
the growth will surpass their ability to keep up with it.
So consider that option.
Debra Walletich,
just for the half-moon king betta with a regular female.
Squeeze the eggs, pick them up, watch.
No babies, four days now.
Well, they weren't fertile.
Sometimes the new young males
are shooting blanks.
It may take them another month or two to fully mature
to the point where they'll be able to take the female out,
feed her up, get her heavy.
When you see an egg spot at the vent, a white,
tiny white spot, that means she is ready to breed.
Put her back in the tank, and eggs should go in the next 24 hours.
Just do that routinely.
It'll happen.
It'll happen.
I doubt the eggs were old.
I'm sure that he was simply not fertile.
Can you keep it?
Well, if you have a lot of plants, you can keep them in still water.
The purpose of the water
is to ensure adequate water flow in the tank in order
to create oxygen-CO2 exchange at the surface.
with a lot of plants they cause that that circulation
by their aspiration it's very slow
but it's very constant so if you load it
with plants it'll work it is possible to get more
excuse me more fish in there than um than can
be handled without it i like to use a sponge filter
because it kind
of does double duty
but an air stone
is perfectly adequate
i had a bowl of crab
cream of crab soup earlier
and i don't think it went all the way down but it did now let's see
Noel wants to know basic fundamentals i lost it
that quick can you put discus
in a dirted tank absolutely i'm going
to be doing it here pretty shortly in the next
couple of weeks i've got the tank picked up picked
out uh i'm getting it ready we're gonna make it
happen let's see where is here it is basic
fundamental medicines just to keep if you were
to list say three glad you asked
that question vibes i have
medications let me show you i've got
some right here.
These are basic medications.
This is fenbendazole.
This is metronidazole
for parasites, for bacteria. I have had them.
There's no date on them. Yes, there is. They
expired November of last year, the metronidazole did.
Fenbendazole probably doesn't. I've had
for probably five years i've used them once
my recommendation is you do not buy any medication
unless and until you need it
and then buy it uh if you'll call me i'll give you the link to be
able to buy the best quality don't buy it
from a local big box store it'll be crap and it won't
work and you won't be getting anything that'll help call me
and i'll get you i'll get you what
you need uh and i won't sell you this stock
problem uh there is an organization in florida
that that deals solely with professional fish
farmers but they will ship out in small orders
to anyone the name
is FTFFA Florida Tropical
Fish Farmers Association
store FTFFA store look it up
and then check out
their product line they have things
that are hard to find hello another one
I get probably 20 of these idiot
calls every day from people trying
to sell stuff, and they never answer.
If they don't answer in the first five seconds,
I know it's a system call and a hang-up.
Ah, what I wanted to say.
Somebody made the comment, there will always be cranks.
That's true.
I've made a decision about that this week.
I had two or three people come in just whining
and moaning,
carping and bitching as loud and as hard as they could,
being as mean as they knew how to be.
Now, in the past, I've taken that and I've said,
oh, all right, let's talk about it.
Never did a bit of good, never converted a soul,
never solved a single issue because the issue was
They were here to raise hell, period.
So, my policy, my new policy,
which I have already adopted,
if somebody posts a link that is obscene,
outrageously insulting,
attacking, vile in some other way,
profoundly, deliberately ignorant,
I'm not talking about being stupid,
I'm talking about deliberate ignorance,
I'm going to block them
from ever being able to post again.
Gone. Done. Fini.
I don't need it. I don't want it.
I'm not going to tolerate it.
So, you might pass the word.
Anybody who's coming in for the purpose of raising hell
is going to be stopped dead in their tracks
and not be able to get any further.
I'm done with it. It ain't worth it.
it just creates chaos creates problems
makes people feel bad gets people upset
enough done and i don't need it
in my brain wait for that crystal
lopez i thought i gave you a
wrench idea lives posted his channel andrew
gilbert just need to save money for enough plants
or grow some you bet i do have a great deal
on plants if you go to my store uh which somebody
indeed supposed to link to guess i
can do it oh dear i messed up again
um i got the link i'll do
it i'll do it i can do it
here's the link uh if you
will go there uh you'll
find a deal for 15
species of stem plant 15 bunches five plants
in a bunch
and you get at least up to this point
two extras. Now, as of this week,
we're changing our shipping policy.
Obviously, I don't raise all
these plants here. I deal with a farm.
These are all submersed, submersed, not immersed,
submersed grown plants. They're all plants grown in water.
They come to me, it takes two days
for them to get to me within two days.
I take them out of the bag, spread them out on a table,
and then we select one of each up to 15.
We've been doing a couple of extras in case some don't make it.
But the reason some have not been making it
is because I've been holding them in my refrigerator
for up to four or five days.
I'm not going to do that anymore.
I have enough orders right now
to be able to fill the entire order
of stem plants that are coming in.
So that's what I'm going to do.
The stem plants will be shipped out once a week on Thursday
or Friday morning.
So you're going to get them as fresh as they can be.
I take them out of the bag.
I will mist them, re-bag them, seal the bag, pack them,
and ship them the same day, if at all possible.
I have about a two-hour window,
hour and a half to two-hour window to do that.
So I've got to do a lot of prep work ahead
to get set up to be able to do that quickly.
I'm shipping out, I will be shipping out about 25 orders a week.
That's subject to change if more orders come in.
Right now, that's the level at which I'm ordering.
I have a few other things coming this week that are,
one of which at least, is profoundly exciting.
I have some very large-leaf
Madagascar lace plants coming in.
Large-leaf Madagascar lace plants.
That's the one with the holes in it, the grid holes.
Stunningly beautiful plant.
I haven't put a price on them yet.
They're going to be about $40.
They're not going to be cheap.
I will have a dozen.
Won't be a lot of them, but they're going to be available.
And I have a bunch of other really nice things
as well, including some, some large,
very large sword plants. I have a lot, Amazon,
and one other, I can't remember what it is, but big,
big, like 18 inch, 12 to 18 inch sword plants.
and they're mother plants they will many
of them will have runners on uh they go for i think 25
dollars they'll be available this week uh
so i've got to get them off i tried twice to get to that
i didn't do it i need to do it this evening
to get them posted jay priestly lives in australia
Yeah, I'm looking for somebody who will
do the deep substrate supplement in Australia and make it available.
I do not take a cut of that.
That's an independent business.
I will send referrals as I get them.
I've got a lot of interest in people buying, but I need
somebody down there who can actually put the formula together.
package it and sell it i'll provide support
for that to help make it happen looking for somebody
willing to do it
and who just said that i have my discus
in a dirted tank i don't know i've lost
track now uh miyaji said thank you again father fish for your time
and quite made her happy
now i'm gonna sign off
because here it's 1 45 at night i have to go to work in the morning
See you guys. God bless you all.
And God bless to your lovely wife. Good night.
Good night. Ray Kwan. Hello, Ray. Give you a wrench.
Exotic water is here. Sub Holt. Budakaria.
Budakaria. I have a four foot long, one foot wide,
two foot deep tank with three. That's a nice tank.
Three big white carambys. That's the osphredimites.
two-grown goldfish. What substrate?
You can use, I would do, just do deep sand.
I was thinking
about that today. I don't know.
My guess is that the osphredimites are going to eat plants. I'm not
sure about that.
They are a magnificent fish, and the white ones are spectacular.
How big are yours?
Three big white osphredimites.
They get two to three foot.
They get immense.
Other than water conditioner, any other must-have chems, says Doyle.
No, not really.
I don't use anything.
There is a Russian name, which I can't pronounce.
And Farleg 69 is retracted.
Let's see.
Subhojit, I need to make you a moderator.
Got it.
Exotic water is tearing.
Why, why, why?
Oh, God.
Three outdoor ponds, each with five medakas, all dead in one pond.
Huh.
That's unusual.
I don't know what would cause that.
It's a tiny fish.
I hope you were not putting food in there.
No food at all.
In an outdoor pond with tiny fish, absolutely never feed them.
Never.
Absolutely never.
Not anything.
There will be enough food developed in that pond to feed them for life.
Any food you put in runs the risk of fouling them.
Do not do it.
Ghosts of rock.
Do fish only grow to their tank size?
No.
They will grow as big as they can in a too small tank and die.
If that's growing to the tank size, then I guess so.
But no, not really.
They will keep growing
to the point where they literally outgrow the tank.
In other words, they get too big to be able
to sustain themselves in the tank.
Have some ketapang.
I don't know what that is.
Ketapang.
I'm going to find out.
Oh, you were
from Ketapang.
Ketapang is a city in West Kalimantan province.
Is it
located?
Best thing to do?
I don't know what it is.
It's a town.
I don't have, I don't
know what that is.
What time is it?
We're getting carried away here.
You know, that's really strange about losing all of the fish in a pond.
It is possible they were killed.
You might consider that option.
You may have a parasite, not a parasite, well, a parasite.
You may have a predator in there that killed them.
Something toxic.
I don't know what it might be.
yeah possible something toxic gotta keep an eye
on the other ponds make sure it doesn't happen
again if it happens in another pond it's either toxicity
or some kind of predator or parasite
parasites usually not going to kill everything
in a pond a predator can like an insect predator
that's particularly uh
aggressive okay i'm gonna
shut this down because
i'm it's getting out of
control yeah get gills is a legit platform i'm
on it as well and and i get orders all the time
uh they're probably i don't know 35 40 different
stores on it most of them are youtubers and some
of them are really really they're all good
but some are super like Pepple and Creek just really super
Russell, 3G rather, says, I treat my discus like any other fish.
Amen to that.
There ain't nothing special about a discus.
It's just like any other fish.
You treat it like a normal fish, and it'll act like a normal fish.
Grumpy gills.
If you're doing a deep substrate, it'll be grumpy gills.
It'll be cycled in 24 hours.
It happens very quickly.
However,
you then enter animals gradually.
Not a thousand all at once in a new tank.
If they're tiny, half a dozen.
Wait a week.
If everything's good, another half dozen.
Do it slowly.
Do it gradually.
You can get up to whatever number you want
if you don't try to do it all at once.
Rick Incredible.
Hello, hello.
Ray Kwan, how do you feel about UV sterilizers?
There's no need to kill green tanks.
Green water is the healthiest tank you can possibly have.
If you have green water in your tank,
that tank is as healthy as it can possibly be.
So what do you need to do about it?
Well, add some daphnia to it.
Add something else that eats green algae.
Don't kill it.
Because if you kill it, you will kill more than that.
You will kill everything in the water column.
And then you will have the worst tank you could possibly have.
No.
The word is no.
No to UV sterilizing.
If you want to use it in a hospital tank, that's perfectly appropriate.
Lace.
Yes, lace.
The lace plant.
That's what you're talking about.
Absolutely.
I've got to get those up tonight.
I've got to get out here and do that.
Okay, you guys, appreciate y'all.
