Once again, thousands of people in cities across
the country hitting the streets,
carrying the signs. They have a single message,
no kings, and they're doing it at a crucial time,
17 days before the midterm elections.
Here in Metro Detroit, crowds crowding along major
intersections all across the region for the same reason.
They want to make sure to get the message
out before people go out and vote.
Fox News' Scott Wolchek talked with demonstrators in Ferndale.
We are here in the heart of Ferndale at the No Kings Rally,
and we've got these lovely ladies right here.
And you ladies came out, you made your sign, and it's Barbara, correct?
Yes, Barbara.
Okay, tell us about your sign here and what brought you out today.
I came out because I really want
to encourage everyone to get out and vote.
And I want them to vote early to make sure that their vote counts.
Because everybody's vote is the same.
And everybody that comes out and votes makes our democracy better.
Wow. And we've also got Deborah over here.
Deborah, what brought you out here today?
Why do you think it's important to be out here protesting and rallying?
I think it's important because we want to make sure that we continue
to have the democracy that I've known for 85 years.
And that's how old I am.
And so I want to make sure that it continues to grow for my grandson.
Now, there might be people out there who think that you might
be an Antifa person or you got paid to be here.
What do you say about that?
I'm here because I want to be here, and I was not paid.
Of course, I could pay, but I don't need it.
Understandable.
And you weren't paid to be out here, right?
Absolutely not.
I've been to each one of the rallies that have occurred here
in Ferndale since they started the No Kings.
I participate in the No Kings calls, and I believe
in we need to stand up for our democracy and make it happen.
Wow. Okay.
Well, you can see these kinds of things happening throughout
not just Metro Detroit, throughout the state, throughout the country.
And if you didn't see it today,
you'll probably see it over the next few months.
These things kind of pop up every few months.
But for now, reporting in Ferndale, Scott Wolchek, Fox 2 News.
