A new Olympic cycle is here,
and curling has seen some sweeping changes.
Here's a quick recap of some of the faces you'll see
in new places this Grand Slam season.
Curling greats Brad Gushue, Silvana Terenzoni,
and Niklas Edin all retired, leaving their team scrambling.
Gushue's longtime sidekick Mark Nichols will join
a new-look Team Dunstone.
He'll move to the front end for the defending Briar champs.
Alina Pätz will step up as skip
for the former Team Terenzoni out of Switzerland.
and Edin's former team is staying together after his retirement,
with Oscar Eriksson, yes, that Oscar Eriksson, stepping up as skip.
In a massive international trade,
Team Mowat's Grant Hardy leaves to skip his own team.
The one-for-one move means Ross White will move
to throwing fourth stones for the new Team Hardy,
while Robin Bryden slots in as third for Team Mowat.
Brendan Bottcher, who spent two seasons as second for Team Gushue,
will move back to skip.
He brought teammate Jeff Walker as lead
and added the Horgan brothers after they left Team Epping.
Defending Canadian champs Team Anderson parted ways with longtime
third Val Sweeting and replaced her with Jocelyn Peterman.
Tyler Tardy returns to his roots as Skip, taking over
the former Mike McEwen team out of Saskatchewan after he stepped away.
And even though Brad Gushue retired from competition,
he'll move right into calling games from the broadcast booth.
Catch his call this Saturday on CBC Sports Primetime.
