But first, President Trump is back in Georgia
to campaign alongside Republican nominees.
He hopes to boost Republican support ahead of the midterm elections.
Good afternoon and thanks so much for joining us for Fox 5 News at 4.
I'm Christine Spiro, the Republican Senate candidate and the Republican
gubernatorial nominee both spoke ahead of the president's remarks.
Fox 5's Kevin Stewart joins us live from the rally in Dalton right now.
Kevin?
Hey, Christine.
You probably can hear it right now.
Marine One landing right now as we speak off to the side of me,
the president, a little more than
an hour late today coming in from Washington,
first stopping in Cobb County at Dobbins Air
Force Base and tracking over here. We have had a big crowd.
The crowd has really been excited,
waiting to hear the president.
His goal, very clear, get his base, these folks out here to vote
up and down the ballot for Republicans.
And two of those Republicans at the top of the ticket
have already spoken, like you said.
Rick Jackson and Congressman Collins, take a listen.
I don't need the money. I'm not interested in the title.
I don't owe anybody anything.
I don't have anything left to prove in my life.
I am running to take care of God's children
and the least of these. Georgia, listen to me.
I do need your help. I need your vote.
Y'all help me get to the US Senate.
You put me in the Senate and I'll keep delivering.
I'll keep delivering a more affordable,
more prosperous, more productive Georgia.
And when I get there, I'll haul
that little old trust fund kid out of here.
Just landing and we'll be walking over
and taking to the stage to address this full crowd,
standing room only, worth noting in Rick Jackson's presentation.
As you know, he came out of nowhere,
spent tons of money on advertising,
and tied himself to President Trump.
But at the debate, the only debate he's participated in,
And he definitely pivoted to Governor Brian Kemp,
very popular in this state.
During his presentation this afternoon, he once again mentioned
his endorsement by the governor and did not mention President Trump.
Of course, we're going to bring that presentation to you live
from the president momentarily when he takes the stage.
But for now, we're live in Whitfield County. Kevin Stewart, Fox 5 News.
Yeah, quite a balance. He's walking there with his endorsement.
Thanks so much, Kevin. We'll be checking back
in once the president speaks.
Now, ahead of the president's rally in Dalton,
incumbent Democrat Senator John Ossoff has called on Republican
opponent Mike Collins to disband his so-called convoy captains.
Ossoff alleges some of the people in this group,
who's part of his campaign canvassing,
have links to the Ku Klux Klan or face criminal charges.
In his statement, Senator Ossoff says, these are people
that the congressman has elevated to leadership roles in his campaign
and I am calling on him to disband this convoy captain's program,
which has brought dishonor to our state
and may pose some kind of threat to public safety, end quote.
