Man, I'll tell you, it just looked to me like the Dodgers going
so deep for so many years.
Tim, it just looked like they ran out of gas
and they ran into a buzzsaw
because that Brewers team right now
is playing as good a baseball as anybody
that we've seen in recent memory here.
Just your overall thoughts here on how the season went
and how the season ended for the Dodgers here.
Well, we'll start with last night and this week.
It's, you know, they picked a bad week to have a bad week, right?
that's that's kind of what happened they did
not do well with runners in scoring position they were
two for 11 again last night uh through through
the entire postseason they were uh almost anemic
with runners in scoring position they get
a guy like last night they had a chance to tie it two
consecutive innings runner
on third less than two outs couldn't get them in so you know you've got
hitters chasing pitches uh you know but milwaukee capitalized
and you have to tip your cap to the
brewers for the season they've had
and for what they did against the two-time defending champs
they knew they were going to see a tough team they really did
but i think that whole organization
and again don't overlook the advanced scouting people
their analytics people their those people
contributed greatly to what we just saw
and you know frankly i don't see anybody excuse me i don't
see anybody else beating them the way
that they're playing right now the way that they're pitching
right now uh they were the best team
in baseball record wise during the course of the year there's
no reason to think they aren't now
um but they you know they're on to their first world series
since 1982 they've never won one this is the first time
as a national league team they're gone to the
World Series, remember in '82 they're in the American League
at that point but uh i don't know i wish
them the best of luck they got a lot of great people
a lot of talented people there and and
you know they earned it they definitely earned it
winning four straight coming back from four down
last night. Ohtani gets back into it.
I thought the night before when he rifled one up the middle,
a big single, he squared it up and said, okay, he's getting close.
And then he hit the three-run
bomb last night. I said, okay,
we're getting shades of Ohtani back, best player in the world,
which he is. And just wasn't enough.
Just couldn't get it done in the end. But all in all, seasonally,
I thought it was another really good season.
And anytime you have a chance to get to the
National League Championship Series uh you know you've had a really good season
but the expectations from
Dodger fans are much higher
because the Dodgers have have won the last two years in a row and
look where they've been i mean since 2017 they
were in the World Series lost to Houston next
year in the World Series lost to Boston uh you know
then in 20 they win it 24 25 they win it
so yeah the expectations are really really high
um the the narrative that this team's just too
old now i don't know if i buy that completely
but from what you said dan it did look like they
were out of gas in certain areas uh maybe
that was the case consider the fact is believe not
making an excuse here just saying these guys have played
a lot of baseball together the last few
years beginning of the '24 season they opened
in Korea right came back played right away um
went to the World Series that's a long season
the next year they went to Japan to start the season
back-to-back seasons starting in Asia
then they have to come back get used to the time again
all that stuff it was a World Baseball Classic mixed
in there as well um so for a lot of these
guys that's a lot of baseball that's a ton
of baseball in a three-year period and you know
this is a little earlier than they're accustomed
to hanging them up for the year but i think some
of these guys will get ample rest
or whatever medical attention they need and they'll be back
and they'll be one of the favorites again next year
no matter what the roster looks like because
The core roster with guys like Shohei Ohtani
and Mookie Betts and Freddie Freeman, you know,
and pitchers like Yamamoto and Blake Snell and Tyler Glasnow,
who we know are under contract, you know,
those are pretty solid pieces to have in your puzzle for 2027.
