Body found near Lake Sheldon in NE Harris County

Right now, we're following breaking news this morning of a body that was found in northeast Harris County. Fox 26's Jade Fleury arrived here in the past 30 minutes. She's live near Sheldon Lake this morning with what we know so far. Yeah, Delon, Melissa, this all started as an investigation into a body found in the grass here on the side of the road. And we actually did get in contact with the Harris County Sheriff's Office, who told us that they do believe that this was an auto-pedestrian accident. I'm going to have my photographer just kind of zoom into the scene there, where you can see that officials and deputies are still investigating who may have hit this man. We were sent here to the scene about 6 this morning, and this is in northeast Harris County, outside of the Sam Houston Tollway and the Crosby Freeway. And I will tell you, as we pulled up, we did see what appeared to be a man dead on the side of the road in the grass along Beaumont Highway here. Now again, the Harris County Sheriff's Office watch command says that this appears to be an auto pedestrian accident, meaning that they believe that the man was probably hit by a vehicle while he was walking or somewhere along the roadway. Now, they didn't say if this was a hit and run or if the driver who may have hit the man has been arrested or taken into custody. That's really what they're investigating out here this morning. Now, they do say that their traffic division is here on the scene responding to the incident. So those deputies that you see out there, that is the Harris County Sheriff's Office deputies, along with their traffic division, trying to kind of piece everything together. But we are here still along Beaumont Highway and traffic. They are able to get through the highway both ways. So if you are commuting in this area, you should be able to get past. I would say take it slowly. But we are trying to get more information on this incident. We're told that deputies should be coming to talk to us shortly. Now, we don't know if that means that they'll give us an interview about what happened. But again, we're trying to get more information on exactly who may have hit and killed this man who was found along the side of the road.
