Well, if you have ever faced a crisis and wondered what's next,
our next story shows that nearly anything is possible.
Two musicians, one who is mute and quadriplegic from Palo Alto,
and the other a country singer from Florida,
met today for the first time after
working together for more than a decade.
KTVU Fox 2 reporter Mark Sayre has our story from Saratoga.
Nick Taylor performs along with his cousin
in a pavilion at West Valley College.
Nick is a country music artist
from Lake City, Florida,
and a decade ago linked up online with a songwriter
who writes the lyrics.
In the audience on this day, Henry Evans,
who lives in Palo Alto and is mute
and paraplegic after a stroke in 2002.
It is Henry who writes the lyrics, which Nick performs.
We can break those barriers, us as human beings.
things are obstacles that come in our that stand
in our way until now Nick and Henry had never met
in person it was the College of Adaptive Arts
on the West Valley College campus that brought them
together for the very first time Henry's wife Jane helped us
to communicate and we asked Henry
what he thought about the very first meeting a c
o come to life it's fun to see my songs come to
life. Henry writes his music letter
by letter using eye tracking technology. And I said you
need to get going you need to get going you have
so much to offer to the handicapped world.
I was thinking more robotics.
I never dreamt it would come out in songs. When Nick first made
contact with Henry he had no idea about the disability
but he says seeing Henry's resilience
has unquestionably changed his life.
Just seeing Henry and what he overcomes I mean how that
It changes everything on how I view life, my perspective.
It's made me grow and chase after things and push and break barriers.
Nick's mother, Vicki, was also in the audience.
Emotion.
Tell me why.
I know it's emotional for him as well,
just because of the relationship with Henry.
I really am proud of this partnership.
I'm so blessed to be a part of it, and it's still amazing.
And while this may be an unlikely partnership,
it is also a successful partnership.
One of the duo's songs, called Keep It Hometown,
was recently runner-up in the international songwriting competition.
