AI GeneratedPolitical tensions are rising in Michigan as \"No King's Day\" rallies are planned nationwide this Saturday. These events aim to address concerns over foreign wars, healthcare cuts, and inflation while serving as a get-out-the-vote effort ahead of the midterm elections. The state remains a key battleground with starkly divided political loyalties and fluctuating approval ratings.
And the political heat being turned up in Michigan,
rallies planned across the country
this Saturday, and of course, right here in Michigan,
Fox News' Amy Lang joins us now with
more. So, Rup, you know,
this is the No King's Day event that's coming up on this Saturday,
and it's also, of course,
combined with this huge get-out-the-vote effort because, as you said,
we are less than three weeks
from the midterm elections.
Well, there have been several No
King's Days since Donald Trump was elected president,
with millions of people taking
to the streets across the country.
This year, events are scheduled throughout the state in
Metro Detroit. And we spoke with one of the organizers
who will be at the rally Saturday
near Eastern Market.
Designed to give people an avenue of expression to talk about many of
the concerns that people have in regard to the ongoing war in Iran,
the genocide that is taking
place in Palestine.
There's also the question of the cuts in Medicare and other health care
services, the inflationary spiral that we've
been struggling against over the last year
and a half, all of these issues
are relevant to this year's No King's Day.
But we have to be vigilant
and we have to be observant in regard to this midterm election.
It's going to determine what
the political future is in the United States.
Once again, we see the radical Soros-funded
left-wing effort trying to rally people in
the state because I think that they have seen
that they are losing altitude and losing momentum
in a very fast fashion.
And maybe this is the way that they can try and get their people
enthused about what's going on.
Jamie Rowe, Republican strategist,
he clearly doesn't expect there will be a big turnout.
Instead, he says people will be watching
college football and that Republicans will
be campaigning by knocking on doors and encouraging
their supporters to get out and vote.
Certainly the get out
and vote effort is something everyone can coalesce behind because both
sides, every side wants their folks out there casting that ballot.
You know, Amy, when you talk about Michigan being
a purple state and you look at just
the last six minutes of this newscast,
you have a packed room of people in Monroe supporting
JD Vance and the Trump administration.
And then you're talking about this big rally on Saturday.
It does show where the battle lines are drawn in the state of Michigan.
And I think too, you just saw this Fox News polling
that came out today that the approval
numbers for President Trump are at the lowest ever,
this time around or last, just 36%.
So it'll be interesting to see how much campaigning he's doing
or are the surrogates sent, JD
Vance, other folks to try to rally the base instead.
So lots to see here as we get into these last 19 days.
We'll be watching it every step of the way right here in Michigan.
Amy Lang, thank you so much for that.
