I'm a good boy

In case you've been living under a rock for the last couple months,
Raid is a brand new collection RPG game.
It has an amazing storyline.

Hundreds of thousands of people can't be mistaken.
The game is growing super quick.

Hello, how you guys doing?
I'm out in the woods today obviously
As you can hear from the buzzing sound
We're not bringing Tripper out here today
There's too many bugs, I don't want him to have a bad experience
He's still very young
I'm going to be out here all day, he's going to be eating alive
He's going to be laying here eating alive
I'm going to have to drive home
and drop him off halfway through the day
Anyways, I understand that
I knew it was going to be very buggy here
Because it's very buggy in the woods right now
And we're in the middle of the woods. There's not a breeze.
There are some birds chirping. So that's a plus
I'm just gonna get some bug spray up on here start her off good,
you know, so today we're gonna revamp the fort
We're gonna tear all this down what's left
of this and we're going to start building the back wall
There's gonna be complete redo like a big back wall
Big back high wall slanted roof vaguely build sides
But today we're gonna get all this down and even probably retie this
Yeah, we'll see how it goes
Maybe I'll get a little smokey fire going too to keep the bugs at bay.
But as long as I have this on, it's not too big a deal.
That's why I wore the long sleeve cool guy shirt, you know.
So even my big support log fell,
which isn't surprising because it was on top of snow a bit.
We'll have to drop this down just a touch too
to make that fit, but that's okay.
So we've got to keep this guy
reflector oven out here.
It's the last time I was out here with Doug and Boosh,
so that's going to come home with me.
I only brought banana, and
I'll reuse all this stuff,
obviously, and I will.
So I had a video ready for Friday,
this past Friday, I missed the post date
because I was uploading my video
that I had shot and edited and I
was uploading it from my editing software
into my computer via my external hard drive
and there's a lot going on in my house.
You know, I got a baby, I got an eight-year-old
and I got Tripper who's a wild, wild dog.
Things happen, external hard drive got knocked out,
broke and I lost all my files.
I lost that, a bunch of Scout stuff,
a bunch of Autumn when she was a baby,
that video, tons of videos, home videos.
The good news is I sent it to Toronto
and it's like a forensic data recovery,
data recovery thing is gonna help me out hopefully,
But that didn't help the video coming out Friday.
Especially when I had missed two weeks
prior to the video that was put out.
So anyways, my apologies.
It's the trip, the video is
Tripper's First Backpacking Trip Ever.
It was a really fun time, it was a good video.
And it'll come out in a little bit.
I gotta wait a couple weeks for that data service
to get back to me.
So anyway, it kinda sucks,
but it is what it is.
A
piece
of
wood
right
there.
So you can see here, my silly bed is no more.
I lost a big piece on it, but that's okay.
We're gonna revamp everything.
Some dry wood under there,
a little cooking grill.
So, as you can see,
this side slopes down.
I figure if I put this support over on this side,
it will even it out and it will hold this support log
in place because it's down on this side.
I left a little bit of a lip on this side.
I don't know, I can't remember what,
if this is the top or the bottom last time.
hoping
that the lip holds
this in place a little
bit more bugs bugs in my
gloves put some weight
on here and it'll hold it good too all right i don't know
if i should just slide that right over
to the end
here gotta
flip this
around let's
see how this
side looks
tie that
together
there but
that's okay oh it's getting warm getting warm check
this out this is one black fly bite there
and then it's starting to travel see the spider web
the leg go down one black fly bite no joke
got one on the back
of my head too and behind
my ears i react horribly
to them obviously make the
back wall i gotta pound some big logs in as stakes into the ground
so let's do that now i don't have
a backpack with me like i said i only have a few things
so i'm gonna hang my mask up here so i don't
misplace it i saw one log over here that i knew would
be good for that and i could just replace
it for the back wall here
it is it's nice solid
pine spruce whatever it
is mosquitoes to be safe
I think I'll cut this log right in half. It's a bit long
That way but I'd rather have it too long and sticking out
Then I can trim it down after
then cut cut it too short for no reason
then waste it
because this is going into the
Ground I do want it to be as smooth as possible. So it doesn't
Make more work for me trying to pound it
in so first thing get rid of these knobs old limbs
Then I sharpen it up and there's
a really nice easy way to do this
Should be able to do it in three
or four hits one and then see the bottom
just needs a little bit of pointing
we'll do that in one hit there you go okay
so one done, one and done, the top it was a little bit
shorter it's a
little bit wider
too so i'm gonna go
on a higher angle
and narrow it down
so three
hits on that one okay both of those are done
a good idea too is to chamfer the ends so they
don't mushroom out on you kind of taking a little bit
of material off the circle of the top helps it
not mushroom out so bad
or split now that i've got all the logs cleared away back there it's
to measure how far back i need to go this log
is from that pile of backlogs all those are going to
be stationary size because i already cut them to size
so i can measure it with this and be good to
go so what i'm thinking of is having a little bit
of an overhang still with the logs and then having
the backlog up about this high
and that's i could even go there there's plenty of room especially
if my bench is right on the edge
or even back a touch i have tons of room for for head head height
and then tons of room for storage
so i think that's what i'll do go to right about here the
back wall so i gotta pound some stakes in right there
so the idea is to put one on either side
and leave a space in the middle big enough for some logs
so that's about big enough for some
logs i can even tie it up at the top after we'll just stick
that there stick that there and get
to hammering get to hammering now i don't mean to sharpen my own axe
or anything oh my goodness
unless it hit a root, but I have
been known for my ax-curacy,
ax-curacy, I'm saying accuracy,
but with an ax
instead,
ax-curacy, okay,
she must have
hit something,
but they're
in there,
pretty good, ax-curacy,
okay, they're in there,
this little mesh makes it hard to breathe,
lesser of two evils though, ah, okay,
so I need to replicate that, duplicate it even on that side,
I need a drink of water,
they didn't bring much food
on purpose,
I have to eat a little less,
Just for give my stomach a break.
I got a banana.
Well, it's so hot from hitting it
You literally feel the heat coming off
of this from being hit with the axe. That's pretty cool
So one right there
make up some some
steaks now some
large ones cut
that right on a knot
So hopefully well, it
was a little bit more difficult
to saw hopefully it'll
be a tougher. I'm pounding it
in solid solid gold
Bugs bugs
bugs.
I love bugs
in my eye.
Ow, ow, ow.
Things are
coming along,
coming along.
So this is
a little,
little wide,
but I can definitely push these together at the top
with a Canadian jam knot once that's all the
way up. And I might want it like that too.
It may make it wider. The logs make it wider. Well,
I don't want to use up too many of these big logs
that I have for the back. I don't want to use
skinny ones down here either.
So we are going to have to go get some more fresh logs. Yeah,
These are gonna have to go together a bit more.
Yeah, I can fix that after no problem
Okay, the good thing is they don't have to be live.
They don't have to be standing
There's one over here. That's on the ground.
It will take some work to clean up and get it over here
But it's big it's it's thick around in diameter
and I don't have to cut a tree down which is best of both worlds
So let's go check this out. Well this top part
that's coming down here is garbage this bottom
I get two pieces off of I believe maybe not maybe one piece
but still nice big fat one
be good had to clear it up
though do need it pretty smooth fit
in there with the other ones
so I'll be trying
to take the limbs
off right at the
base if I can that
whole body's out of
harm's way here
on the other side
of where I'm chopping
on some of these bottom
limbs might be
helping to support it
staying up so be careful
that doesn't get pinched super
punky down here solid
towards
the top
but it's
okay it's
going
right
on the
ground
anyway
she's
soaked
through
ah very
heavy
extremely
heavy
darn
so warm
all these
layers ah
that took
a lot out
of me
darn darn
it all to heck i'm not in shape
i haven't done anything like
this strenuous in a while
i
just
crushed
my
grill
oh
man
oh
well
i
took
something
out
of me
it's a
really
good
thing
i
don't have Tripper with me here
but i've already had to drive him home i'm not gonna baby this dog
You know, I mean his whole life, but he's a baby.
Anyway, I wanted to bring him and he wanted to come and be good
I don't want any bad experiences out in the bush
You know what I mean? I want to make everything positive
for the first year. That way he's raring to go
These are going
to get pushed together
Ah bugs,
I gotta get a
fire going here
poke in the bum, I gotta get a fire going, try
and get rid of some of these bugs
It's getting pretty bad if I were on a lake
at a campsite wouldn't be half this bad
but we're middle of the bush
and it's very wet this time of year or this year
especially it's freakin soaking wet it's
raining every second day like a lot so
these mosquitoes are just just going
to town a little small smoky fire going I
think sucks when
they get inside
your bug net
and they're
just probably
should be getting proper
and tender I'm just hoping I hold the fire here long
enough the lighter here long
enough it'll just catch all
I can hear mosquitoes in
my ear take this flame i'm about
to be my youtube career doesn't
work out you'll be singing you'll
be seeing singing
joe that looks
like it's gonna
catch surprisingly
enough this hurt
that was
caused when you walked out of my ear
that might go out but let's
just keep putting sticks on it
no one's sticking it
no all right i zigged
when i should have zagged let
this be a lesson do what
you're supposed to do before you do it
do what you're supposed to do before you do it okay got
some yellow birch and instead of waiting
to do this i'll move that before i light it and then
we can just drop it right on top what a novel idea oh
my goodness look at that now if that doesn't go
i'm going home here's the sun that should make
the black flies come out that'd be great
okay we do want a smoky fire so i'm going
to be putting nasty little rotten things on it we do
got to get
the fire
going strong
to saturate
myself with
smoke here
it's already
working
so i did use some of that wood
that i saved already from before
that was on my grill i got
some punky wood on there she
doesn't go out that's a good amount
of smoke seeing as how the bottom
log is much more fat than the top two than these two
and how high up i already am about halfway
i think i'm going to get rid of these two
and keep the same diameter log on the bottom all the way up
i did see when i went to go get that yellow birch i did see
a dead big old dead spruce over there
that that matches the this and it's standing
so it won't be soaking wet it won't be as hard to
get over here i feel like if i get two
or three pieces off of that i'm gonna be sitting like
almost at the top here anyway
so it's probably worth it to take down one dead tree to finish
the rest of my back wall and then i can continue
to use these pieces for the thatching or whatever
you want to call it the rafters
because I don't think I can I can tighten this
at the end after I've been trying now
like I sat here and squeeze it together
and it's just not budging
so I don't want a sloppy back wall I don't want to
be all saggy and this one falling down having
to prop up and stuff like I'm
sure you've seen on some fire reflectors
I've even made fire reflectors like that
this is the same idea
so yeah we're gonna get rid of these two we're gonna
go cut it on a big tree probably gonna sweat
my little behind off that's all
part of it the smoke is helping the bugs big time move
these for the last time hopefully
out
of
here
at
least
a
little
piece
out
of
that
that's
all
right
i'll
just
get
in
i'm
gonna
throw back i'll press it
or this is what i
do to campers anyone anyone
still following this
this log is bigger than the other one
so i've got to uh i think i gotta put this one on the
very
bottom
lighter
than the
other
one oh i'm
sweating
up a
storm my
goodness
gracious
some
work. Putting some work in. I'm soaked.
I'm just drenched. Ah. Ah. My little heart's a-pumpin'.
My little Joe hurt.
My little black hurt.
Back retaining wall
is looking... Is that
the right word?
Retaining wall?
I'm going to use it. It's
looking pretty awesome. Got
a piece of
cord onto
there.
It's going
to fall.
It's nice
to be out.
Anyway,
I'm just
going to relax for a couple minutes here.
Then I'll get back to work. The back wall
looking good the retaining wall
is looking good retaining wall right well i guess i better get
back to work i'm just sitting here
getting eaten full of it it's just full
of it all right back at
trim all
these up
after two
make them
the same
length
more
on there
before i'm
topped
out i
might as well just take it
from here that one's
a bit heavy that's just
as heavy just thinking the
top should have a light one on it but that's okay okay
so see how they're starting to go i do have
to um pull everything together
and that's okay i'll do that no problem yeah a couple canadian
gems on there it should work pretty good that's
a decent size wall definitely so i'm going to be
tying this together with canadian jam knots you guys have seen me
do this a hundred times
if you want more in detail look
on an older video you
pass through there i
do want them all where
where they want to sit i want them to be where i want them to sit
so that i tighten it properly
I'm gonna get a little toggle
to help myself with this
But I can just leave it like that for a second
until I get the other side on
Learned this knot from Terry Barney,
Iowa woodsman
My mentor, really, my instructor for all things bush
Legit dude
It's getting
there
And again, I'm gonna get a toggle for this side too
Just so I can really, oh look at that, right here
So I can really get some oomph on there
Oh, the bugs
Oh my gosh, the bugs
Alright,
that's on there
That's on there
all I'm gonna do now just
so it doesn't want to slip and it shouldn't but I'm
just gonna wrap it and tie it off
and I'll do that on both sides just as a
little extra that's
solid I'll be able to
stand on that after
that's not going
anywhere
frogman Joe
do shabby all
right well I
just noticed my batteries on red
and I don't have any extra batteries with me I
thought it was a full battery before
coming out here so if it cuts out that's
why so what I have to do next is figure out
a way to secure I guess I could just
butt them up like this that would work too i
was going to say i'll put a smaller one up here
another log up here on top of the paracord
that just kind of wedges in there and then i could
wedge this in the crack of it yeah that's what i'll
do yeah this will be held in and push that
towards the back from the pressure from the logs
yeah okay then maybe you know what maybe i could
tie an outside i'll show you what i'm talking
about here now depending on how secure this gets
like with all the weight pushing against it it might be fine here
but i might want to tie an
extra piece uh like a log coming out here on the outside
to just stop it from sliding down and it'll
go across the whole way but we'll see that's
not a big deal right now everything's everything's how
it needs to be right now nice overhang here some
of them has that nice overhang i'll put this one
on the
outside i'm
gonna have to
tie another
one at the
bottom it has
to happen
that sits
on there
and i'm going to tie it
on too i'll get another
piece for this side
to sit on hopefully i can
move those logs after
too they're just there
to hold it in place for now
okay that's perfect okay
now you can really see instead
of just being uh like propped against them with pressure this
this solid log is going to hold them all in place right makes sense eh
so we just got two going on
the top boom not going to go anywhere we got some good
a good start going the good thing is i got a
bunch of bunch of logs kicking around it's not going
to take long to put them on there and then
i'll put some thatching material on there we're
not going to just leave it like this we're not
going to just leave it like this that would
be silly now i can start to put the real hefty ones
on be solid to support them oh sticky where
was my glove on that one my hands are so sticky now
all right gotta wear
the gloves gotta wear the
gloves don't want sticky
hands i'm happy with the
progress from today good amount
of progress joe well thank you joe very nice of you to say oh
don't mind if i do don't even mention it okay some
of these have a good overhang some not maybe i'll
you know put all the ones that don't have an overhang to one side
or something we'll see after
but main
thing is get
these logs
up see how
it looks
good boys
and girls
all right
my camera
died i'm gonna see if i can insert this somehow
into the video just using my phone anyways i got
it all up it's a good amount of uh good amount
of progress done today what i definitely noticed now
is i need to put sides on this thing like big time
so that'll be the next uh excuse me the next
build the process put some sides
on this piece we'll see how we'll figure out a way to do it
properly or not properly we'll figure out a way to do it joe style
but yeah man i'm completely
standing under here
and the ridge pole is half a foot in front of me i'll put the bed here
mosquitoes i'll put the bed here i'll have a bunch
of storage behind i can even make two beds one way
back there that's what i'll
do i'll make two beds i'll make one back there and then we'll have a
little aisle way and then we'll have the bed in the front
and that way i can have a guest back
there there's plenty of room like obviously there's
a bed there is plenty of room headspace
you're not gonna hit your head
so very cool i'm gonna go home as i have no more camera to film
with and because I'm getting eaten alive
so let's get out of here and we'll come back hopefully
soon hopefully get back here
and start building I'm excited about this it looks looks like a fort
now there's just a bunch of logs falling all over
the place cool thanks for coming I hope you guys
enjoyed it I hope you guys uh yeah are looking forward
to the next installment of the fort
I'll see you later
