In there, but look you're still in the tent in here.
Get all the way right in here, chair,
and tell me this ain't the ultimate tent honestly.
You're completely protected in there,
but you can feel like you're outside.
Would you just look at that. No way.
Very warm in here.
Folks, Joe here.
I found
this awesome
beautiful
hardwood forest.
It's the fall time, all the leaves are almost off,
it's all on the ground everywhere as you can see.
Couldn't be more picturesque.
I'm gonna camp here tonight in my new favorite tent of all time.
It's been a long time since I did a comfortable camp like this.
You guys are used to seeing me going canoe tripping
with minimal gear or whatever.
But I've got a lot of good gear here.
It's gonna be a comfortable night.
I'm excited for it.
Let's go for it.
It's
unreal.
I'm gonna set up right around here.
I'm gonna find a level spot.
I used this tent once the other night
and holy smokes I'm excited to show it off.
I really like it quite a bit.
It's my favorite tent right now.
Right here seems
to be pretty decent.
Move some
of the leaves away and see
what we're dealing with.
I'm
gonna
leave
my
tent.
It's windy out right now and it's supposed to rain all night
so this is gonna be a really good test for this tent.
Fingers crossed.
They don't put the name of the tent
on the outside of the bag in any form.
I keep the tags on it because I don't care
but you can read them, they don't say.
It says warranty in and it talks about the Pomo people.
Cool, but I don't know what this is.
So I have to write on it.
I have quite a few of them now.
I write on the outside of it with a permanent marker what
a description of it how I will remember what it is
So I can't tell you the name of this right now,
but I will put it down at the bottom
It might be the loom one. I don't know.
We'll see but this tent what I like about it
It offers a couple different options of camping or rather
feeling
You can be in it with your chair sitting outside
with a rainfly above you with a stove next to you
or you can be sleeping
in a very nice comfortable white dry satin sheet type feel thing.
I'll set this up and show you what I mean.
Now this tent has a wood stove with it,
stove jack rather, and it has three poles.
That is too colored like the ground to just throw on the ground.
So in the pocket she goes.
You come with these overly heavy duty stakes.
They're good, but you certainly don't need all of them
or that strength of them,
but that is an overkill that some people want.
So this is
the stove
jack side.
It's
easy
soil
to push
into
here.
Okay, see it stops in that pocket there, right?
I'll show you.
There's a nipple side, protruding side,
and a flat
side.
Obviously, you're putting the flat side through.
A rounded side, rather, whatever you want to call it.
Well, I put all three in before I try and prop the tent up.
You don't have to.
I'm going
to have
to restake
that.
Problem.
Maybe I shouldn't have staked it in first.
You know, you get the hang of it after you set these up a couple times.
Okay.
Stick with me.
No edits, you know.
All Joe.
All right,
so there's
holes that go
in like that.
And that's in.
Repeg that, obviously, at least on this side.
Got two pegs,
that's still
pegged in.
But, and it's
as easy as
that as a fix.
No harm,
no foul.
Pretty good pitch, a little sag here and there,
but we got it overall good.
Happy with it, we gotta put the stove in it still.
And I gotta take you on inside and show you
what it's like in there.
I guess you could call it a tunnel tent.
Not around a water source, so I brought my own water in.
First time
in a while
to have
to do that, too.
I only put in two pegs, you know,
there's a whole bag of them, or four pegs.
Ha, ha, ha.
And like that's the sleeping spot in there.
But look, you're still in the tent in here.
Still very much in the tent.
You can close that, you can close that,
you can close what I'm looking through right now.
You can sit in here with a chair.
Room for activities are endless, you know?
Oh, hello.
This stove is pretty cool too.
It's small enough, but it doesn't take up a lot of room.
It's light, it's titanium.
And I still can cook on it.
Cooked on it last time, no problem.
Even though the top didn't seem like enough surface area.
But it was.
Look at that. That's the top of the thing.
But I'll show you.
Don't take my word
for it, you know.
I think if I ever went on a group winter camp with some guys,
if there wasn't enough room in their canvas tent,
I might bring this tent and stove as a setup
and be able to be self-sufficient on it.
Or just go by myself.
That probably will end up happening anyway.
All right, let's get this in here.
Forgot that their stoves have this function,
which has not, I've only used them a handful of times,
but it
not failed yet.
I'm gonna put this so that the damper control
is
at
the
back.
Bam,
son.
Just threw all my stuff in this duffel,
Aquafest duffel, nice and easy.
We got a real size pillow.
This is luxury.
When I said luxury, I meant it.
A nice war bonnet, top quilt, and my sleeping pad.
These will go
in the nice, dry,
warm sleeping area.
So this is an inner tent.
This white, this clips in and out.
And it also has a front zip up,
if you wanted this separated from the outside here
where the stove is.
That's all clean and white and nice in there.
Makes it nice and easy for sleeping.
Comfortable, very comfortable.
And if you want, this tucks right away in the door.
It's not a big deal for me though.
And there's a door on the other side.
If you sleep this way in it, you're laughing, right?
That can get all messed with later on,
but it's my dry, white, safety, nice satin zone
without
any satin.
It's really nice in here.
I haven't seen this kind of forest in a while.
Happy I found it.
Okay,
we need some real firewood.
If nothing else, we can get some down stuff.
There's gotta be some nice,
dry, dead standing.
Those are good.
They're smaller, but.
they're good i don't need too hot of a fire something
to cook on keep the chill out this
looks good too actually yeah that's good wood
that might even be oak i think it is okay let's
get to work okay pretty happy
with that that's all hardwood oak
and ash or sorry oak and maple
my bad some big long ones there i can even get
that if i need it there's just so much in my tent
is can you see it where does she go right around there i can see it
from here it's not far did i
Did I mention I like you here?
Decent amount of wood.
Get that stuff split up and cut up now.
In
here,
chair.
So that side you can get a little bit farther away.
But do this for the camera.
You can sit in here.
That can close.
That can close.
When you stay from rain, stay from cold, sit in here.
It's tight.
Don't get me wrong, but I'm sitting.
I'll put the chair over there after and really get it choice.
But let's get this fire going.
All hardwood.
Not a birch to be found.
But I do have some petroleum jelly cotton balls.
That's what I always carry, so let's get it going.
I'm gonna just whip up a few shavings just to
better my chance, you know, at getting a fire the first time.
Not that I have any concern, but this is why.
I'll get that, it's on my chair. This is why I don't, because I get
prepared beforehand. What a novel idea.
I could probably do that in other aspects of life, but
let's
not blow it out
of proportion
here.
This really is an awesome tent. I do like it quite a bit.
If it's one of these guys, I'll probably...
Do the job.
Hardwood twigs
right on top
and some more
shavings.
Make sure my flue is open. It is now. Damper, flue, what have you.
Damper, flue, what have you.
I've got a nice steak to cook up
and some potatoes and garlic and onions
and some tea bags.
What else do you need?
Hopefully the rain does come and we can listen to it pitter patter
on the tent and hopefully we can stay dry.
First time I used this tent it did rain a little bit
but it's supposed to really come down tonight so
that's a weird noise.
With its dome shape we shall see how it does
with shedding the rain.
Not concerned
but we'll see.
It does have
a false bottom
on it
and it won't it won't burn anything it
doesn't even melt the snow underneath of it.
While I'm out here camping today
and tonight to power all my needs I'm going to be using the
Blue Eddy Elite 100 Mini.
Its compact and lightweight design makes it easy to carry and store.
One kilowatt hour capacity supports full day outdoor power needs.
It can run multiple devices such as fridge,
laptop, drone, Starlink, camera gear, etc.
Out here I'm using it for a drone, my phone,
cameras, lights, batteries, much more.
Now especially with off-road camping like this,
I am on the side by side,
what could be better than, you know what I mean, pumping your tires
if you need to on the go with no concern.
It's new vertical design saves space in cars, tents, RVs and homes.
It's got a reliable battery with 6,000 life cycles
and a 10 millisecond UPS for home backup
reliability. One of my favorite features is this light on it
and you can potentially
have light for up to 11 days with a couple different modes
and there's even a SOS.
Really handy when especially you could even be not charging
a light in this when you could free up other power sources
and just use this light in the tent or your RV or what have you.
It's also got a smart app control for monitoring and management.
You can click the link in the description

Tell me this ain't the ultimate tent honestly
like something I like about the other tent
From Pomali that I really like like some of them
I don't like it all some of them I don't see
a use for for me personally
But the other one I use like the Baker style one I use I like it
because you're inside a tent
But you feel like a tarp. It's completely open in the front
There's shelter from the bugs from the rain
this one's kind of the same vibe
It's like inside outside type of thing like that's completely again.
I could set that separate that completely. It's just dry warm
Comfortable always and then the ability to cook here,
sit here out of the rain, out of the snow, stay comfortable.
You really can put another guy in here if you're really tight with him.
Actually looking at this, look at this! Look at this!
Now stick with me class. I'll learn you something.
I didn't even know about this.
I didn't realize that this side could come open too.
Look at this. Even more versatility. You're completely
protected in there, but you can feel like you're outside.
I'm gonna take this on like
a super late season canoe trip where I can not portage much or at all
but like set up and have a wood stove
and be super comfortable maybe bring Will actually.
That'd be a trip for Will.
Would you just look at that.
No way. Pretty badass man.
I need a new
sleeping pad but
they're expensive.
This one's got holes
it's been patched
but look at how comfortable this war bonnet.
Over quilt, top quilt looks man. That'll be nice and warm tonight.
I certainly won't need the fire going tonight
But we'll cook with it and stay warm until you go to bed.
Looking forward to cooking.
Man it's burning
so clean you can't even see the heat.
She on I promise. She going.
Ah!
Love that sound.
It's like bowling pins almost.
Not too
shabby.
That'll burn for quite some time,
especially when I'm pretty warm already.
Supposed to get chilly tonight,
and with the rain, I'm sure that'll be a welcomed thing,
plus cooking, and I'll have to have a fire
out in this leafy stuff,
even though the soil is very, very damp,
and it's actually soil, but it's okay.
There's not many rocks around here,
and it was kind of windy.
We'll go without a fire regardless.
Fire inside.
Now, I'm not usually good with the drone,
you know, no formal training to speak of,
but we
should
be able
to get
a couple
of cool
shots.
Admittedly,
I'm not
that
great
with the
drone.
It's going to
be supper time.
I'm big hungry.
We got
a ribeye steak
for NutriFarms.
We've got some potatoes, onion.
We've got seasoning,
butter, some cookies.
Oh no, there's some, there we go, some garlic,
some real garlic, some not nasty garlic like last time.
Oh, and I'll be back to that, um,
to that shelter I built, like, for sure.
I just, I had some busy, uh, stuff going on these past couple weeks.
I took Autumn down to a Disney concert
and stuff for one of her favorite things in life.
So I scored some, some daddy points, which I'll do every time, so.
Alright, let's cook this up.
Sure nice to have a wood stove and a solid shelter.
Okay.
Let's get some seasoning on this piece.
Look at how good that looks.
Oh, boy.
Oh, boy.
Montreal steak seasoning, please.
And it's still Montreal steak seasoning.
It's still the same I used to get back in the day.
Hasn't been tainted yet.
Thank God.
We'll see what time brings.
Thanks.
See the size of that compared to the top of that.
It's still fine.
It still heats evenly.
It holds it, again, like cast iron would.
Save a little bit of this butter for the morning.
It's going to wind you, bud.
All good.
Ooh.
Thank you.
Me likey,
it's getting
a little dark.
Good, butter in there again,
pour it.
Should cook up pretty nicely.
I think it's done, I think it's all done.
Looks really good, I'm gonna set some lights up
and pull this off and let it sit actually.
Put on it, chill bro.
All right, time to close up the tent a little bit.
Conserve some warmth in there.
We'll leave a couple things open, but my food's ready.
I wanna dig in,
time to dig in, ooh.
Look at this, so soft.
Oh my gosh, steak is cooked.
Little bit more than it needed to be,
but I don't think it's gonna be tender anyways.
So good.
Mmm.
The old heavy cover spork.
One end spoon, one end fork.
That is a spork.
This is so fricking good.
I could have been a chef if everybody
only ever wanted to eat, you know,
steak or pancakes or fish or, that's probably it.
Maybe eggs?
Eggs?
You got
it.
Very good.
It's raining a little bit now.
You can hear it on the tent.
I'm sure
it'll
pick up
soon,
I hope
it does.
Shangri-La, the old one-handed door.
Got
him,
got
him.
Hunkering down a little bit now.
Oh yeah, cozy, cozy, cozy.
Cozy,
cozy
door.
Just styling and profiling.
Wait till I go in the satin area,
the satin sheets area,
you know?
Son of a bitch.
Oh, very warm in here.
Closed all the doors and everything a little while ago.
I haven't stoked it up in a while either.
She's warm.
I do like this tent quite a bit.
I forgot to mention there is a floor.
This whole thing, the comfortable satin,
whatever, white sleeping place has a floor.
Not just walls.
It's nice and comfortable.
Out here it has no floor.
You'll hear a mess of wood.
I have my shoes on.
I have the fire going in the fireplace.
The wood stove rather.
And then in there, everything's off the ground.
Best of both worlds. I have not seen that yet in a tent.
I'm very, very impressed by it if you cannot tell.
Okay, boots stink. Time for bed.
Oh, oh yes. Yes.
The comfort. The comfort of the satin.
I've never had a tent that was white like this inside.
I guess my canvas tent, but not the same vibe, you know?
This inner tent has an inner door.
I could use that for a vent out there too if I wanted.
I like it. I like it a lot.
I'm growing my hair, like it or not.
Inside, outside,
but still inside, you know?
All right folks, I'm going to bed.
I'll see you in the morning, good night.
7 a.m.
just
after,
it's
not
too
cold.
I'm gonna get a fire going though
and take a chill out of, what chill there is out of the air
and cook up some food, maybe some tea.
It didn't rain bad at all.
It sprinkled most of the night, but nothing crazy.
I heard a buck snorting, a buck, a male deer
snorting all around me.
like camp last night making all sorts of noises like
that anyway i'm gonna make this fire now
i made a bunch of shavings
last night i was sitting here
my counter there's no birch bark
at all
not i
need to
be found
there
we go
nice oh
that's a
little
toasty
it's
getting
laid
out but
this uh my big camera's dead and the gopro is not good
in the light the camera's not dead the sd card
My card is filled.
It's peppermint tea in the morning.
I don't know if I showed you this other entrance
when you don't want to deal with walking through
the, where the fire is and the dirt on the ground
and everything with your sleeping stuff.
You
just
come
this
way.
See, it still, still smells good.
I can pour water on the ashes for sure.
That's all the pipes.
See about the stove.
So again, I only used two stakes last night,
like on either side, four total.
This could have been, they have these tiles here
with the rings and you just sneak it all out like that
It's all tight, but it was fine for the last night.
It loosened up some with the wind, too.
What they give you
is like 20 steaks in that peg bag.
They're golden either way if you want to use them.
Okay, got my jug of water here in case I need it.
Let's get this tent down.
So for a hot tent you get with such luxury ease of setup
and takedown as you can see
it really packs down relatively small.
I'd say the biggest bulkiest things are the poles.
There's only three of them but they are heavy
and they're long but like compared to like a normal
and I'm not saying this is as good as a canvas tent
as far as like real winter time type stuff
but like I would use it for sure
and test it out and see how long it lasts like
It's doing good, man.
It's doing good.
You could probably go out on, like,
a decent week-long trip with this thing and be safe
and be fine and be happy.
You might need a little bit of room.
Boom.
It's a one-person for sure.
You could do, like, an overnight with, like,
your kid or a dog or something in there, although
Wolfie would not appreciate how hot it gets in there,
but it makes life nice.
It makes life comfortable and easy, and a warm,
dry place to get over the elements if
If you need it, is, uh...
And to sit and relax in too, that's the thing,
not just like lay down, like actually sit in there,
you could journal, you could watch a movie,
you could whittle, you could cook and eat like I did
last night. You can do so much things,
so much room for activity, you know? All right, so the
bags could use a little bit of an upgrade.
I wouldn't mind seeing a bigger tent bag, easier
Easier access from the middle there is not the greatest.
And if they could label.
The names of the tents on the outside of it, that would be good too.
Listen up, Paulie.
These are all suggestions from somebody who really uses your stuff.
That's the size of it.
And the wood stove is pretty small too,
but we've got to deal with that now.
One of the good things here is there's no duct.
It's all literally just soil.
It's actual good soil.
So I don't have to be as concerned,
but I have a bunch of water to douse everything.
And I'll make sure 100% everything is safe before I get out of here.
Let's do it.
I'm going to put a little bit of water down first.
Just says to act as a buffer, make a little bit of mud.
I'll dump right into that.
Overkill,
for sure.
Handy, it's got these handles on it.
These handles are quite handy.
Very
lightweight.
A false bottom in there, that's a piece of it that fell out.
Another piece,
there's three
of them.
Okay,
learned
this
from
Ray
Mears
a
whole
long
time
ago
watching him.
You mix the embers and the water and the mud together
so it becomes this like mucky paste thing.
And then you spread the ashes.
The whole ember mess is mud pie.
We throw it around the woods to leave less
of a trace of where you were.
Now, nobody can say that's going to catch on fire.
That's for damn sure.
All right, that's not going to catch on fire.
So there we go.
Now, all that is wet and cold to the touch.
We're good.
All right.
That would be a very lightweight winter camping setup, you know.
Hey!
Sun's coming up.
It's going to be a beautiful day.
Look at here in the forest, very, very pretty.
And the only tell that I was here is just this little bit of leaves
that are moved out of the way here.
And the first windstorm, that'll get righted.
So I'm happy.
I hope you guys enjoyed this trip.
I sure had a fun time.
Love that tent.
Next time you see me, we'll be out at that shelter with Wolfie,
building it some more, getting ready for winter.
I have a couple of cool ideas to do it.
So I'll see you next time.
