Ankita Bhandari’s parents stage protest against Dushyant Gautam's appointment

Now the row over the 2022 Ankita Bhandari murder case has reignited sharply after her parents and several opposition leaders staging a sit-in protest at India Gate were detained by Delhi Police and subsequently released. The fresh wave of protest erupted after former BJP leader Dushyant Gautam was appointed governor of Sikkim in a recent reshuffle Ankita Bhandari a 19 year old resort receptionist in Uttarakhand was murdered in September 2022 after she reportedly resisted pressure to provide sexual favors to guests but the case recently drew renewed momentum after an FIR was registered regarding an unidentified VIP leading Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami to recommend a CBI probe Ankita's parents and opposition parties alleged that Dushyant Gautam's name surfaced in connection with the unidentified VIP references tied to the murder of the 19 year old daugh ter the family is demanding that his appointment as Sikkim governor be stayed until the ongoing CBI probe concludes Dushyant Kumar should be behind bars I earnestly request the honorable president not to appoint Dushyant Kumar as governor until the CBI investigation is concluded The Congress party has launched widespread demonstrations, including symbolic fasts and protests in Dehradun and Delhi, demanding that the CBI probe be expedited and that the identity of the alleged VIP be fully unmasked. The Congress Uttarakhand chief called it an insult to the state and staged a silent fast in front of Gandhi's statue in Dehradun. Last night, when we found out that the person wanted in the Ankita Bhandari case in Uttarakhand was made the governor of Sikkim, we were deeply hurt. A person who has been named by their own leaders and by Ankita Bhandari's parents in the murder case. Instead of registering a case against him, the CBI has given him a safe passage out of Uttarakhand. This is a huge insult to the feeling of our state. We are holding a silent fast today in front of Gandhiji statue.
