And more on the protest, the top brass of Delhi police will hold
a high-level meeting at police headquarters today.
The goal is to plan fresh strategies,
including security and traffic arrangement, for the 16th of October.
The Cockroach Janata Party founder, Abhijit Deepke,
has called on patriots to gather at Central Park
in Connaught Place on Friday with the national flag.
He alleges that CJP members Saurav Das and Ashutosh Ranka have
been jailed only for unfurling the tricolour.
The call came on Wednesday when the duo were remanded
to five-day judicial custody and sent to the Har Jail.
This is for trespassing into Jantar Mantar,
which has been denotified as a protest area.
Officials in the intelligence branch
are gathering inputs on the expected crowd
and which political parties, student groups
and civil society activists would be joining CJP's Tiranga Lehrao call.
The Aam Aadmi Party has already extended its support.
Delhi Police have requested the Union Home Ministry
to extend the deployment of 273 companies
of Central Armed Police Forces until 20 October.
The meeting, that will be chaired
by Delhi Police Commissioner Anurag Kumar today,
is expected to see discussions on precautionary measures
that are needed to be put into place
to ensure prohibitory orders under Section 163
of BNSS are not violated.
The proposed demonstration comes amid a wider political
dispute over restrictions on protests at Jantar Mantar
and demands for the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh
Kumar over alleged irregularities in electoral roll revisions.
