But first, we're going to start with some breaking news here.
Randy Wallace got sent out to a scene here in the West Chase area
where we now know that there was a robbery,
an attempted robbery that took place
and at least one man has been injured
with some serious injuries to his head.
Let's get to Randy right now with that breaking news here. Randy?
Yeah, Anthony. Now, this happened at around 2.30 this afternoon.
According to police, the man was robbed at a nearby apartment complex,
drove himself here to this parking lot, this strip center parking lot
on South Gessner near Beltway 8.
Now, there were some tense moments out here
because police were originally called to this strip center
on a road rage incident.
Not the case, HPD says.
Now, a man living at a nearby apartment complex
just blocks away says he was robbed by someone he knew
and was hit in the head with a large stick.
We saw a man that was laying in a puddle of blood
on the side of this black truck here.
The lady there, she was standing there talking to him,
keeping him conscious pretty much, telling him,
don't die, don't die, stay alive.
A male called in and said that he'd been robbed by a known male
and that male had hit him over the head with a club or a stick.
Officers responded to the location along
with the Houston Fire Department.
They responded to the shopping center here.
They found an adult male with a head injury.
He's been transported to the hospital in critical condition.
Now the man, when he got here, he got out of his vehicle, went
into a meat market, which he frequently goes into that meat market.
We saw a picture where, I mean,
he's bleeding profusely, buying a six-pack of beer,
and then comes back out and he's taken to the hospital.
Again, he's in critical condition.
Police say they know who robbed him and attacked him,
and they're looking for that person now.
