Video Summary
AI GeneratedKelly Clarkson is embroiled in a controversy after a tense encounter at a small Brooklyn store over a unique parrot mascot. While video footage shows an animated exchange, the store owner claims Clarkson's social media complaint triggered a wave of harassment from \"stan\" fans against the business and its neighbors.
All right, we want to take you
to some news we talked about a little bit on yesterday.
Kelly Clarkson, we did talk about
the incident where she walked into the store
and didn't get what she wanted.
It was a parrot.
It was a one-of-a-kind kind of mascot for the store, so to speak.
And now we've seen the video.
I've seen the video since then, and a lot has changed.
We've got Jonah Eatman from TNZ joining us live right now.
Jonah, what is the latest juice?
Yeah, I mean, as you said, we've got some receipts now, right?
We've got video.
So, you know, this whole thing has been back and forth.
He said, she said, was the bird for sale, was it not?
Well, now we have video inside the store.
You see Kelly Clarkson there, she's in the yellow t-shirt.
You can't hear, there's no audio on this,
and it's obviously not a very close shot,
so you can't really see what was going on behind those hazel eyes.
But you see her standing with what looks like
a salesman at a wall where the bird was mounted.
You can start, you know, they're talking back and forth.
eventually she points at it
and then you know they talked a little more and then
she walks away you can see her yeah
so here's a new camera angle there she's
looking at it up and down points at it
and then as the video goes on you see
her kind of start yeah she's making
her way out of the store and then she stops
at the front door and she seems very
animated right like she's kind of at the
front door she's gesticulating
a lot just kind of doing some sort of like
defensive motion here
and eventually she you know the guy she's talking to in the
blue shirt he moves on to another customer
and then she's uh she's talking to like a storekeeper
someone at the front desk um seems pretty exasperated
um and then she walks out again
we don't know what she said um but you know we're kind
of starting to see what went on inside the
store and as you can see it's really crowded right there's
a lot of people there um and she blends
in right she's dressed pretty down um you know they may
not have recognized her as as miss
independent but um yeah i mean it was pretty tense
and we were also hearing from the one of
the owners of the store we actually sent a camera down
to the store yesterday in Brooklyn um and he
you know he told us his side he said that she
and her following i looked up her on twitter alone
X where she where she first complained about
this she has 8.8 million followers so he says that
her following has unleashed a barrage
on their small business right um he said a couple of
pretty incredible soundbites here he said
that um she's put them all in danger that her complaint
launched a molotov cocktail into the store
um and he even said that like her fans have unleashed
on neighbors of the store people who live next next to it
and near it even wishing cancer on
the cat of someone who lives near
the store it's like what i mean people i don't know how i don't
know how familiar you are with like stan culture
so to speak but they're pretty unhinged right i
I mean, these like people who are militantly,
you know, supportive of their favorite artists.
I actually looked up the name of Kelly Clarkson stans.
I mean, you know, like Beyonce has the Beehive, Rihanna has the Navy.
It's not as good.
They're the Celebrities.
I don't think that one really took on.
By the way, there is a whole Wikipedia page devoted
to the names of like celebrity stan groups.
So this is very much a part of the culture.
I didn't know there was a whole Wikipedia page until I looked it up.
Um, but you know, I don't think the celebrities,
I don't know if they have as much, you know,
like cultural pull as, as the Navy or the Swifties,
for example, I think they're probably
a minority party in the, in the chamber of Stan legislature.
Um, but I will add, I will add that the owner of the store,
he did tell us that, you know,
he empathizes with Kelly Clarkson, you know,
and the attention she gets being a celebrity
even invited her to clear the air at a,
at a magic show that they hold at the, at the
store.
No word on if she's going to attend,
but I will also add, you know, there's
been all this back and forth about whether
or not it's for sale well now he's saying it is for sale
there's a catch it's for 15 million dollars not 15 000
and he says that if he if he if someone
were to buy it at that price he would give the artist
a million dollars and then he'd pay people
in his store i believe 15 000 a piece
and then he'd buy more unique sculptures so if this sale
were to happen you get a bird you get a bird you get
a bird um and you know we'll see if any if
anyone ponies up by the way kelly clarkson i
don't know how deep her pockets are but i don't
think it's out of the question that she could
do the funniest thing ever and buy this thing
for 15 million dollars but i'm not sure
if her financial advisor would uh would okay that i have
a couple of thoughts first of all the celebrities it's kind
of like you can't make fetch happen you
know it's kind of one of those things i don't
think it's hitting the right way and then it
doesn't go ahead and also everything is for sale maybe
at the end of the day right okay you want
it? Fifteen million dollars. The price is right.
If the price is right. But, you know, and I don't
see Kelly being that type of person like, oh,
I'm going to prove a point. I'm going to go and get
that. I mean, something funny might be to go buy another bird.
Oh, I decided to go with this or
something. But that just does not seem her style.
But we're seeing something else that doesn't kind
of fit her character. We know it. Yeah.
I mean, she's known for being pretty, you know, down to
earth, low key, not so much a diva.
You know, this could just be a whole misunderstanding that she
thinks she got pretty womaned
and maybe that isn't what happened um you know i don't know i don't i
wasn't there and i can't hear
the video it looks like it got tense maybe maybe they were smug in
their in their rejection of her of her offer i
don't you know there's there's two sides every
story right but this is i think the bar
for kelly clarkson to make a public stink about something
like this and again it's a small business she says
she supports small businesses you know i i think
her bar is pretty high so you know i don't think
this is ending anytime soon so we'll see what
comes out but yeah it is remarkable
for someone like kelly clarkson who's known for not being
you know like a difficult celebrity yeah
as a texas girl i would expect her to be like guys
be nice to this business it was a misunderstanding even
if it didn't work out please don't attack
the business you know what i mean that would be kelly clarkson i mean
when i saw it when i saw
it on my timeline i did a double take i
was like there's no way this is the real kelly clarkson
like you know going full karen on a small business
but uh it was very much real and not just accused
being a Karen, you know, maybe she's justified.
But, you know, on first glance, it was very out
of character and very odd to see from Kelly Clarkson.
Do you expect this more from like
D-list celebrities who were on a TV show in the 90s who,
you know, maybe like their first class
ticket doesn't get honored or something?
This is not like Kelly Clarkson level stuff typically,
but who knows? Maybe it's Kelly 2.0. We're hoping not.
She doesn't have the talk show anymore.
There you go. Now she's got her audience back.
All right. Thank you so much, Jonah. We appreciate
