AI GeneratedMeteorologist Keith Marler provides a weather update for the region, noting current mid-50s temperatures and cloudy skies. While high pressure is attempting to clear the area, rain is expected Thursday. A cold front will bring blustery conditions Friday, followed by a significant warming trend heading into next week with highs potentially reaching near 70 degrees.
Welcome to your Wednesday afternoon. I'm meteorologist Keith Marler. Thank you
for clicking on Fox Local for an updated forecast for this Wednesday afternoon.
As our cloud cover from yesterday lingered through last night,
lingered through this morning, but we are trying to break
that up as an area of high pressure moves on into the area.
Kept our temperatures locked in the mid to upper 50s yesterday,
and we're roughly doing the same thing as we go on into the day today.
But the high pressure is able to scrub out some of that cloud deck this afternoon.
Not a lot of it. The high pressure would love to do more, just not that strong.
Flow out of the north northeast, five miles per hour
or less for the rest of the afternoon and into the evening hours proper.
Was five to 10 for the morning hours.
As we go on into the afternoon again, becoming mostly sunny.
Excuse me. No, no, no. Becoming mostly cloudy.
Maybe partly sunny by the time the sun goes down this evening.
But that might be pushing it for a lot of us out there.
Clouds the dominant feature in our sky.
Highs will stay in the mid fifties for a lot of us, mid to upper fifties
for those of us that try, or a bit more sunny break here and there.
But an average high is fifty nine now for this time of year.
Maybe I mentioned that just a little earlier.
But that being said, so this is about where we're supposed to be.
We've just been spoiled a lot.
We'll clear out the sky temporarily overnight tonight, but then we replace
that with a fresh batch of clouds, and you can see what those clouds are bringing.
A chance for a few drip drops initially, weak.
I can't guarantee you all that's going to hit the ground for the morning commute
at all, if at all. Maybe a few spritzes and sprinkles early.
Then a more organized push of rain rolls on by by mid morning.
A little moderate rain in southern Minnesota, light to moderate rain
for the rest of us, and then it continues on for the better part
of the afternoon before tapering off into your evening commute.
Quarter inch plus in the metro, quarter to half inch in southern Minnesota,
but not much going on at all across northwest of Minnesota.
We'll keep temperatures in the low to mid fifties heading
on into the day here in the metro for your day on Thursday,
and then we'll start off Friday with that little extra cloud cover,
maybe a sprinkle, but then a cold front sweeps it all out of the way.
Blustery conditions set up, gusty breezes,
and we will struggle to get back to the lower fifties.
I got a high of fifty two on Friday, on the forecast,
but that's that's optimistic because the breeze is going to try to combat that.
The sun will help us. The sun will try to get us back into the low fifties,
and the mild overnight period tomorrow night will help us start
on a on a good note too. But yeah, that breeze is going to do everything it can,
everything it can to just keep us cool feeling
and chilly feeling the brisk breeze in the Friday as we go on through. And remember,
when we're still in the forties, we calculate the wind chill, so until we hit fifty.
It'll feel chilly regardless. So typical mid-October today,
highs in the 50s, cool and quiet with patchy afternoon sun too.
And it's best to try to stay peekaboo here and there. Just good luck with it all.
Passing clouds tonight. We exchange one batch for another as those clouds start
to bring in again some rain showers for your day on Thursday.
Kind of a wet first day for MEA for a lot of folks out there
if you haven't started already. 54 for your high tomorrow under those rain showers.
We'll have a couple of little sprinkles Friday morning with cloud cover,
then clearing sky, sunshine Friday afternoon.
Blustery behind that frontal boundary, chilly day.
52 on Friday, but again most of the day just stays in the 40s with a wind chill.
We'll have to calculate with a wind at 25 miles per hour.
Then the wind dies off, clear sky Friday night.
That leads to frosty 30s Friday night and Saturday morning.
Then the wind picks up again Saturday afternoon, sunshine,
but it's a warm source breeze bringing in milder air.
Highs back to the 60s we go, and we stay above average next week.
Highs on Sunday mid 60s, mid to upper 60s on Monday, and we flirt
with temperatures near 70 as we head on into the middle days of next week.
