Something Slid Under a US Military Satellite.. It Wasn't Ours

For eight days, an American military satellite crept up on a British one, and neither of them looked down. Something was sitting underneath them the whole time, and when the allies found out, they kept it to themselves.

It was a Chinese satellite. It came through the day before the American pulled in closest, while a tracker on the ground watched all three dots at once. The allies announced two satellites. It took almost a year, a private tracking company and a news agency before anyone heard about the third. By then, China already knew where America's watchers park and when they move, and the last time one of them came for it, it turned around and faced it in the sunlight.

Now America says it has weapons in orbit, Chinese researchers are designing satellites that chase other satellites down, and the one machine that slid under the allies has seen exactly what you'd need to aim.
