Welcome to Islestead — our off-grid island homestead in Finland.

The harvest season is finally beginning at our island homestead. After months of growing our own food, it’s time to start bringing the first crops in. In this video, we harvest our garlic and potatoes, and save seeds from this year’s plants so we can continue growing our own food in the years to come.

For us, growing food is an important part of building a more self-sufficient way of life. We’re not trying to grow everything we eat, but every harvest gives us a little more food that we can produce ourselves.

There is still plenty left to harvest and plenty of work ahead as we prepare the garden and food storage for the coming winter.
