Australian Debut Champagne Release from Virginie Taittinger!

Wade is officially back in the studio after the birth of his baby girl, and we're celebrating with something incredibly special: the launch of our newest DD Direct Import, Champagne Virginie T.!

Founded by Virginie Taittinger (daughter of legendary Claude Taittinger) alongside her son and cellar master, Ferdinand Pougatch-Taittinger, this boutique, artisanal Champagne house produces just 90,000 bottles annually. With Champagne running in her blood from both the Taittinger and Piper-Heidsieck families, Virginie focuses on extended lees ageing, low dosage, and powerful, vinous, Pinot Noir-driven expressions.

Tom and Wade dive deep into the full lineup, from the Transmission Grande Cuvée Brut (aged 5+ years) to the 100% Grand Cru 2018, and finishing with the rare 8-year-aged 'VT' Cuvée.

🍷 THE WINES
• Champagne Virginie T. Transmission Grande Cuvée Brut — The entry-level signature blend of 2018, 2019, 2020, and 2021. Aged for at least 5 years on lees with a low 6g/L dosage. A savoury, textural, and pastry-driven Champagne.

• Champagne Virginie T. Rosé — A blend of Chardonnay and red Coteaux Champenois still Pinot Noir with 7g/L dosage. Vibrant salmon color with skippy, crunchy red fruit and strawberry shortcake notes.

• Champagne Virginie T. L'Équilibre Premier Cru — 100% Premier Cru blend (50% Pinot Noir / 50% Chardonnay) from the Montagne de Reims villages of Sacy, Chamery, and Rilly-la-Montagne. Aged 7-8 years on lees (2017 & 2018 base) delivering rich brioche, butterscotch, and toasty power.

• Champagne Virginie T. Blanc de Blancs — An Extra Brut (5g/L) blend of Côte des Blancs Grand Crus (Avize, Cramant, Oger, Le Mesnil-sur-Oger) and Premier Cru Villers-Marmery from the 2020 & 2021 vintages. Floral, citrus-driven, and playfully tropical.

• Champagne Virginie T. Grand Cru 2018 — 100% Grand Cru Pinot Noir from Verzenay, Verzy, and Mailly-Champagne. Tense, chalky, and incredibly complex with white strawberry notes, built for the cellar.

• Champagne Virginie T. 'VT' Cuvée — Aged 8-10 years on lees across Austrian oak foudres, barrels, and stainless steel. A richly autolytic, creamy, and nutty masterpiece with parmesan rind and peach notes.
