Tiny Woodburning Oven/Range Restoration

Rusty Restoration

This toy stove was my grandmother's and was given by me to restore. There are two different versions of this Crescent Wood Stove. There is a “toy” version and a “salesman sample” version. The salesman sample version is made with higher quality finishing and castings. The version I restored here is of the “toy” variety.

I’ve seen your comments requesting I add the vinegar soak to my long list of rust removal techniques, so I tried it here. Well… if you watched the video before reading the description you already know how that turned out. Unfortunately the long vinegar soak didn’t remove any of the seasoning or rust, but it did introduce hundreds of large pits on the pots and pans I was attempting to restore. Luckily I was able to snag a set of the “salesman sample” pots and pans to replace the ones I destroyed by soaking in vinegar. If nothing else it was interesting to see how much different the quality was on this set compared to the original “toy” set that came with the stove.

This is admittedly a pretty boring video with little restoration technique or skill required, but I wanted to do it to honor my grandmother as it holds some sentimental value to me.
