Fertilizer Destroys Aquarium Plant Growth | Father Fish Planted Aquarium

Rooted aquarium plants get their nutrients from the substrate. The plant releases hormones that trigger bacteria to generate the specific nutrient the plant needs according to its growth. Roots, stems, leaves, flowers all require unique nutrients. Fertilizer prevents the plant from growing properly.
Ferns, anubias, and floaters get their nutrients from the water column. To provide appropriate nutrients the aquarium requires a food web. This is created with the dried leaves of trees. Microfauna including bacteria are nurtured by this leaf mulch and create the nutrients required by water fed plants.
Botanists discovered a soil developed by ancient people in Brazil they namedeTerra Preta. This miracle soil keeps its nutritional value indefinitely. Due to its bacteria content it is able to nurture soil to achieve very high nutritional levels. Father Fish has developed a product for aquariums that achieves the same result. Aqua Preta supplement provides the widest range of mineral, nutritional and bacterial contents for a soil based aquarium substrate.

Lou Foxwell adopted the role of Father Fish many years ago when he opened a tropical fish store as a retirement business. Prior to this, he served as a missionary for 25 years, following in his father's footsteps by ministering to a congregation of deaf worshipers.
Lou fondly recalls his grandmother in Berlin, Germany, who inspired his love for fish keeping as a child. As a founder and original board member of the National Aquarium, Lou played a significant role in its development, serving as chair of the Community Relations Committee and participating in hiring the first Director of the Aquarium.
With extensive experience across nearly every level of the fish industry, Father Fish offers a wealth of knowledge and products, including plants, soil supplements, and more, to enhance your aquarium experience.
