A few months ago, when President Donald Trump began floating the idea of taking over Cuba using military force, many people were understandably surprised.
Since then, however, the State Department has put out reports and statements making the case for why Cuba is such a threat to the United States, calling the regime “an espionage superpower.”
A recent report says the Cuban regime has waged a 70-year-long war against the United States—not with kinetic weapons of course, but instead by using the dark arts of sabotage and subversion, including by propping up anti-U.S. socialists in central and south America and sending over spies who then spent decades hidden inside America with top security clearances.
And then, there’s what the State Department calls Cuba’s greatest weapon: the ability to control people in our cities and towns through ideological alignment. It’s the old Soviet tactic of, “If you hate American imperialism, work for Cuba behind the scenes.”
Apparently, it’s been effective—so let’s go through it together.
A few months back, when President Trump first began to float the idea publicly of taking
over the island of Cuba using military force, if need be, many people were understandably
surprised.
It really seemed to come out of nowhere.
However, since then, both Trump as well as the State Department has been out there putting
out reports and statements and speeches, making the case for why Cuba is such a threat to
the U.S. domestically, calling the regime an espionage superpower.
To that end, you have President Trump just earlier this week at the U.N. summit say the
following.
My administration is also seeking a fundamental change in the situation in Cuba, where the
communist regime is under great pressure, the biggest pressure they've ever been under.
It's an absolutely failed state.
It's failing like never before, and it will fall.
Marco Rubio is handling a negotiation.
He's deep into negotiations with Cuba.
Let's see what happens.
We'll not allow a haven for foreign adversaries to threaten America on our own doorstep, right
at our doorstep.
The Cuban regime has also spent decades coordinating with the left-wing radicals and communist
networks here in the United States.
As our State Department has detailed, they've cultivated ties to subversive and radical
groups such as the Communist Party USA, Antifa, and the Democrat Socialists of America.
Communism will never be coming to America, but freedom will be coming to Cuba.
Likewise, there was a recent report put out by the State Department which said that the
Cuban regime has been waging a 70-year-long war against the U.S.
Obviously not with kinetic weapons, but instead, I guess you can say using the dark arts of
sabotage and subversion, propping up anti-U.S. socialists in Central and South America, sending
over spies who then spend decades hidden inside of America with top-secret security clearances.
And then lastly, there is what the State Department calls Cuba's greatest weapon, the ability
to control people, American people, in our own cities and our own towns through ideological
alignment.
It's essentially the old Soviet tactic of, hey, if you hate American imperialism, work
for Cuba behind the scenes and we'll help you to topple it.
And apparently it's been effective.
And so let's go through it all together.
And please do stay to the end of the video because I have a little bit of a surprise
for you.
But before we dive into it, please do smash those like and subscribe buttons so the algorithm
can pick up the video and share it out to ever more people.
Thank you so much for that.
Now, to start with, the Secretary of State, Mr. Marco Rubio, who by the way, is himself
ethnically Cuban and he's not a fan of the regime.
He recently referred to Cuba as a spying superpower.
Here's Rubio speaking on Fox News just a few weeks ago.
A failed state 90 miles from our shores that happens to be aligned with adversaries to
the United States is a national security threat to our country.
Mr. Rubio then went on to say that Cuba has had a long history of spying on America and
is working with our biggest adversaries, such as the Communist Party of China, to
spy on us.
As one example of many, and we cover this in much greater depth than a prior episode,
the Chinese have set up installations on the island of Cuba in order to spy on the American
military in the south of the homeland, in Florida, Texas, Louisiana, as well as in South
Carolina.
If you want to check out that earlier episode, I'll link it down below.
However, just a few months back, the State Department released a report titled Cuba,
the Capital of 21st Century Communism, which is a funny thing to say because, I mean, likely
China is really the capital of 21st century communism.
Regardless, though, the report says that Havana's foreign intelligence agency is one of the
most effective in the world and their focus is on an existential revolution against the
United States.
The report details Cuba's infiltration of several key U.S. security bodies, including
the Department of State as well as the Department of War, the Pentagon.
Regardless of which agency in the government it is, though, the aim is basically the same,
to covertly influence American foreign policy and to gather as much information as humanly
possible.
All right, just to pause here for a super quick moment.
If you've watched our program, Facts Matter, then you know that we focus on one thing,
which is the facts, not speculation, not narratives, just what the data shows.
And right now, the data globally is pointing in a direction people should really be paying
attention to, which is the fact that global conflicts are fueling market uncertainty.
That's why I believe in owning something real, something physical, something that the government
can't just inflate away, which is physical gold and physical silver from today's sponsor,
which is American Hartford Gold, the company that I trust and who I've been personally
buying from for many years now.
These are tangible assets.
They're not tied to policy decisions or shifting narratives.
Gold has held its value for thousands of years through inflation, currency changes, the rise
and fall of empires, as well as general global instability.
In a certain sense, gold actually thrives in periods of global instability.
And American Hartford Gold is a good company.
They have an A-plus rating with a Better Business Bureau, thousands of five-star reviews.
They can deliver your gold and your silver directly to your doorstep, or they can help
you set up a gold IRA if you're trying to diversify your retirement.
And right now, when you call and mention my name, Roman, you can get up to $20,000 in
free silver with your first qualifying purchase.
So give them a call, 866-242-2352, or just text Roman to 65532.
That's again, 866-242-2352, or text Roman to 65532.
I'll also throw all their details.
You'll be able to find them down in the description box below.
And here's the kicker.
They are able to use their communist ideology as basically a beacon to attract American
sympathizers.
The report says that unlike China or Russia, who are basically just seen as power players,
Cuba doesn't actually pay their mercenaries.
Cuban agents work for free because they support its anti-American and pro-communist ideology.
Here was Marco Rubio again speaking on the matter on Fox News.
Cuba is the only country that consistently has implanted and embedded spies in our system
without even paying them.
We had an ambassador, a U.S. ambassador, who ended up being a Cuban spy and was recently
convicted.
We've had them penetrate the highest levels of the Defense Intelligence Agency.
Ana Belen Montes was one of the single biggest intelligence failures on the part of the United
States and one of the biggest penetrations we ever had in our system.
Now, in that clip, Marco Rubio was referring to the former U.S. ambassador, Mr. Victor
Manuel Roca, and he was previously the U.S. ambassador to Bolivia.
But then later he pled guilty to being a Cuban spy and was sentenced to 15 years in federal
prison in 2024.
That's where he is at this moment.
The other person that he referenced, Ms. Ana Belen Montes, was a top Pentagon Cuba analyst
who was also a double agent and whose spying was at least said to have contributed to several
deaths of U.S. military personnel.
And so his point isn't exactly that the quantity of these agents is great.
It's rather the quality.
You have agents hidden at some of the highest levels of the U.S. government, which shows
us why the State Department is taking Cuba so seriously.
You had former CIA counterintelligence chief, Mr. James Olsen, say the following on the
matter, quote,
And they're good at the subtle arts, which really brings us back to the crux of the matter.
That report from the State Department, it said that the Cuban Communist Party is smart
enough to know that they could never defeat the U.S. in a military kinetic battle.
But the regime doesn't fight us with physical weapons, with bombs and warships.
They rely instead on the darker arts, covert intelligence operations, as well as subversion,
including sabotage, sponsoring proxy networks, hosting fugitive extremist groups and training
far left guerrilla movements that then go to either Central or South America or sometimes
even back home to the U.S.
Furthermore, the State Department is making the argument that Cuba is playing both sides.
They act as a beacon for people who are already ideologically anti-American, but also they
are running this long term ideological campaign to demoralize the U.S.
and convert more people to the anti-American cause.
They're basically involved in both the supply and demand of anti-American sentiment within
the borders of the U.S.
All throughout Latin America, every communist left wing insurgency that's destabilized
governments across the region, every single one of them over the last 40, 50 years has
found its support, its help, in many cases, its birth from a Cuban influence operation.
Furthermore, as President Trump alluded to in that U.N.
speech, the State Department report says that Cuban intelligence has been cultivating
relationships with many American organizations.
Quote, The Venceremos Brigade, described in one Senate report as among the most extensive
and dangerous infiltration operations ever undertaken by a foreign power against the
United States, has brought some 10,000 American activists to Cuba since its first
contingent in 1969.
Now, to give you both sides, Cuba frames their campaign as a fight against American
imperialism, American colonialism and against racial oppression.
And they capture the hearts and minds of those who are already on American soil using
left wing protest movements inside the U.S.
to leverage political dissent.
And to that end, the State Department report names several prominent U.S.
progressive antiwar and socialist organizations who are aligned with the Cuban regime.
They're not calling those people in those organizations out and out as being Cuban
agents, but instead they're saying that their political rhetoric, their anti-embargo
campaigns and the delegation trips to Havana that they're taking are exactly in line
with Cuban state interests.
Now, one of those groups, the Democratic Socialists of America, who are really having a
moment right now, they have issued statements saying basically strongly rejecting the
claims that they're in bed with the Cuban government and saying instead that the State
Department report is just reviving this Cold War era Red Scare campaign with the ultimate
goal being to delegitimize domestic political dissent, criminalizing free speech and
smearing oppositions to the current administration and to U.S.
policy as basically by saying that that person, if they're criticizing the government, is
acting as a subversive foreign element.
Now, I will mention that both things could be true simultaneously, by the way.
And as just one example of how they could both be true, you probably remember the 2020
BLM protests and you probably in your own life know someone or several people who
partook in those protests because they genuinely believed in the BLM ethos and the BLM
cause of the 2020s.
But among other things, the State Department report, it says that protests like those were
backed by Havana in order to foment social unrest here in the U.S.
It's the same network of protesters around the country.
They were the same people you saw on the streets burning things in 2020.
They didn't flip it around and they become the pro-Hamas protesters and they flip it
around. And within 48 hours of Maduro's arrest, have pre-printed signs outside the
courthouse demanding his release.
Then they're out there doing the ICE stuff, attacking ICE agents.
There's nothing organic about it.
It is funded, it is organized, and Cuba is a part of that network and in some cases a
critical part of that network.
And it's a network they will weaponize against us.
Now, in order to get a better glimpse into the regime, we here at The Epoch Times, we
sat down with Fidel Castro's own daughter and she peeled back for us the curtain on
what the Cuban regime is really like, as well as why even she, the daughter of Fidel
Castro himself, had to put on a disguise and pretend to be a tourist in order to escape
Cuba, flee to Europe and eventually come to America and then become basically an anti
regime activist.
It's a phenomenal interview that will give you a lot of color on this particular issue.
And if you want to check it out, you can watch it exclusively over at The Epoch Times.
I'll throw the link to it. You can find it down in the description box below.
Check it out, because again, Fidel Castro's own daughter, first of all, she has a great
glimpse into what the regime was really like.
She had a very kind of unique position in this in this system where she was Fidel Castro's
own daughter. But I guess within a communist system, everyone's supposed to be treated
equally. So anyway, her take on it is phenomenal.
But then also she's very clear eyed about what's happening.
It's not like she has these rose colored glasses.
She's very clear eyed about what communism is and what it does to the soul of the souls
of the people in that society.
So I would highly recommend that interview.
And then also leave your thoughts in the comments section below.
What do you make of the basically argument that the democratic socialists of America
are making to oppose what the State Department is saying?
That basically they're in line with the Cuban regime.
And Trump also made that same same declaration during his U.N.
speech. But they're saying, wait, hold on.
This is just a power grab in order to crack down on domestic opposition to the
administration. Do you think both things are true?
Do you think it doesn't matter because they are in line with the Cuban regime?
Leave your thoughts in the comments. It's a it's a fascinating issue because it does
touch on very fundamental questions of what the U.S.
is and whether socialists are able to use our free system to do what they do and to
convert our society slowly but surely more and more socialists, maybe one city at a
time. So, yeah, leave your thoughts in the comments regarding what you think and then
smash those like and subscribe buttons if you haven't already.
And then until next time, I'm your host, Roman from The Epoch Times.
Stay informed. Most importantly, stay free.
I remember the first time I met Fidel Castro.
It was very bizarre for me.
Always felt more as a Cuban, as a woman, as a mother than as a daughter.
My mother was so obsessed with the revolution and the revolution process that she really
became absent.
She was really obsessed.
It's a mystery for me.
Sympathizers of the communist regime exist everywhere.
But nobody is really interested in the truth.
They are masters in using the words to manipulate people.
I felt very isolated.
I was scared.
I was sleepless.
Why communism is not working for people.
This regime has a way of instigating the darkest instinct in human beings.
People have no right under a communist regime.
You don't have freedom.
You don't have choices.
You're not allowed to have a religion.
I mean, it's so oppressive.
I thought that maybe he will carry the regime with him to the throne.
But it didn't happen.
And what is your dream for Cuba?
They're going to be able to breathe in freedom.
