With the Ionian Revolt crushed, the Persian King Darius turns his all-seeing gaze to Greece, where the cities of Athens and Eretria stand as insults to his honour; during the Revolt, they had supported the Ionians and now Darius was looking to pay back this insult with interest.

For the first - although not the last - time, Persia prepared to invade Greece.
