THERMOPYLAE: 300 Warriors Against an Empire | The Battle That Shocked Persia

In 480 BC, one of the most famous battles of the ancient world unfolded at Thermopylae.
King Xerxes of Persia marched into Greece with a massive invasion force. Standing in his way was a much smaller Greek force led by Leonidas, King of Sparta.
At Thermopylae, the Greeks used the narrow mountain pass to neutralize Persia’s overwhelming numerical advantage. For days, they resisted repeated attacks before a hidden mountain route allowed the Persians to surround them.
Leonidas and his remaining warriors chose to stay and fight, turning Thermopylae into one of history’s most enduring stories of courage, sacrifice, and resistance.
But Thermopylae was not the end of the Persian invasion. The Greek resistance continued, leading to another decisive confrontation at sea: the Battle of Salamis.
