A Tough Night In Manchester | Manchester City 5-0 Norwich City | Highlights

Championship side Norwich are at the Etihad Stadium as the Blues begin their journey to a potential record-equalling 10th Carabao Cup. Tonight's line-up was always going to be changed and it's unsurprising that City attend different to Sunday. There are debuts for new goalkeeper Geronimo Rulli, academy star Floyd Samba and Brazilian winger Alan. Ayoub Bouhadi makes his first Etihad Stadium start in midfield. Alan's just lost the ball in centre midfield and Norwich are coming forward on the counter. And actually it's a good counter. And Young was into the penalty area and there was a really good sliding block by Alan who again showed his appetite to come back and block. Absolutely, it's a great block. Hopefully he's not got injured there. When City lost possession it was his first thought to get back and help his defenders out. The ball's with Kuzunov, inside his own half. He gets towards the halfway line, plays it into Samba, lay-off to Lewis. Lewis can go through here, shooting position, still with Lewis. And he's caught only about a metre over the crossbar but it was the first chance of the match. He never really looked that confident, Rico, in that position and a bit of a tight angle from Rico, gets a decent shot off. Vitor Haish, and Vitor Haish plays it out to Alan down this right-hand side. Young were comes to meet him again. Alan plays a lovely ball towards Samba. Samba will get to it. Samba's in here. Oh, and a good tackle by Darling. And it's the first corner of the match that good vision to play him in by Alan. Yeah, I thought he got the better of Darling then but the defender stood up well. It's a good ball, but Vital Aish steps in and won it back. And it goes from Buwadi to Samba. Samba holds it up really well. And now brings in Buwadi. And through it goes. Shirky's through on goal. Yeah, Samba did terrific in the first instance there. Laid Buwadi in. He got it out of his feet. And it's a great ball in. And he's broke the offside trap. And once Chirky gets in that position, there's only ever going to be one outcome. And it's a really cool finish with his right foot. 2-0 City. Kovacic. And on to Shirky. And into the gap for Samba. A brilliant finish. Well, he set up the opener with a cross that was turned in by Samba for a debut goal. And now he's scored his first goal himself. In the centre of our picture is Chris Samba. And the cross is stopped while Norwich playing out from the back. Lost the ball. Samba now in a shooting position. He's bent it in. Samba's on a hat-trick. He's just bent the ball into the corner of Daniel Grimshaw's net. And it's a debut of incredible memories. Chris Samba, his dad, jumps to his feet to herald his son, 17 years old, and Floyd Samba is two-thirds of the way to a Manchester City hat-trick, Nicky Weaver. Yeah, fantastic goal. Fantastic finish. His dad, Chris, is sat just in front of us and he was the first one to jump up. It's Norwich getting caught out playing at the back. It first went to Eitnori. And then it finds its way to Floyd Samba from Eitnori. Gets it on his right foot and just bends it in Daniel Grimshaw's far left-hand corner. It's a fantastic finish. And now Norwich have won their first corner of the evening and their fans behind the goal are enjoying the fact that that's the case. Former City Academy player Jacob Wright is going to swing it in right-footed. He's gone deep. It's headed away by Buardi and then headed further by Vitor Eich. And then the shot comes in and Rulli's made his first save. Oh, I thought he tipped that round. No, he didn't. He pulled his arms away. He doesn't make his first real save as a City goalkeeper. Oh, they're giving it away, Norwich. Samba gets to the ball and he helps it on to Makedu. And here comes Makedu. Good save by Grimshaw and the rebound. Well, it almost broke for Rico Lewis but Norwich get it away. Yeah, really good save from Grimshaw there down to his right-hand side. Again, it was the Academy product linking up. Here's Alain. Comes forward, finds Samba. Samba, lovely ball out to Makedu. Makedu traps it in the penalty area. On it goes to Lewis. Lewis into the penalty area. Oh, it's just gone wide. I think it hit O'Reilly. O'Reilly tried to readjust his body and guide it into the corner but it went wide for a goal kick. On to Kuzinov. Pops it to this near side to Braithwaite. Bradi, Kovacic, lovely ball. O'Reilly on towards Lewis. Lewis lets it run. Makedu! What a fantastic football game and what a wonderful way to end it. Ryan Makedu at the end of a simply beautifully crafted move has smashed it in for his second ever City goal. It's been the most perfect night. Debuts, youngsters starring and now he scores Ryan Makedu for the first time in the Carabao Cup having scored in the FA Cup previously. And another academy star smashes City into a wonderful 5-0 scoreline.
