Walking the Momoiwa Trail on Rebun Island | Hokkaido, Japan

A dawn walk along a coastal trail to a small lighthouse on Rebun Island in Hokkaido Japan. We start on the trail above Momoiwa, or Peach Rock in English. From certain angles the rock resembles a peach if you're in the right frame of mind. The tall grasses on either side of the trail are home to a variety of flowers, and a number of small birds. They were hard to see, but we are treated to their morning song throughout the walk to Motoji Lighthouse. Across the water we can see the silhouette of Mt. Rishiri on a small island rising from the sea.
