DIY Montreal: Fix Your Router's Guide Bushing Compatibility
1 Video View·Sep 14, 2026
But what if your router isn't designed to accept guide bushings?
Don't worry, you don't need a new router.
Most routers should accept them right out of the box.
But some routers, like my Bosch here, require an adapter ring that you can screw onto the base.
And once that's installed, you can mount standard guide bushings.
Or if you want a universal solution, you can buy a universal base plate like this one
that's compatible with nearly every router from trim routers to full size.
Just remove your router's base plate and drop on this one.
Then line up the slots with the holes in your router.
Then these wings allow you to line up the other holes super easily.
So whether you're using an adapter or a universal base plate,
you simply drop in the guide bushing and screw on the ring from underneath.
And you're set!
