The Peaceful Riverside Village George Michael Called Home

Discover Goring-on-Thames, a beautiful Oxfordshire village resting on the banks of the River Thames, where George Michael chose to make his home for many years.
This cinematic journey follows the Thames through one of its most peaceful stretches — passing Goring Lock and Weir, boats, stand-up paddleboarders, wildlife and tranquil riverside scenery before wandering through the village’s cottages, churches and quiet lanes.
George Michael bought Mill Cottage in Goring in 1999 and remained deeply associated with the village until he passed away there on Christmas Day 2016. His former home stands beside the Thames, close to the historic Church of St Thomas of Canterbury.
Beyond the village, the film explores the beautiful landscape surrounding the Goring Gap. Across the river, Lardon Chase rises above Streatley and provides panoramic views over Goring, the Thames Valley and the surrounding hills.
The countryside also includes Goring & Streatley Golf Club, established in 1895 and set high above the Thames Valley, with sweeping views towards the Ridgeway and the river.
