Day in the life on a Mini Farm

Hey, I'm Callie on Callie's Farm Flip. Today I'm going to be showing you around my mini farm. I'm currently back on our eight acres of land and the first step of the day in the morning is letting the goats out. This is my goat barn and they're ready to be let out. So I'll introduce you. Now I'm gonna let out this one and her name's Lily. She's in a separate pen because she's gonna give birth soon. I also have two others that are gonna give birth. And I usually just put this brick in front of the door so then they don't get stuck. So this is Lily right now. She is a full otter and her belly is really big. Really big. So her first kidding she had two and then her second kidding she had three. So I'm wondering what she has now. This is Star. This is Star. She just had her baby. It was one buckling but he was sadly a stillborn. You can hear the chickens in the background. So now I have to milk her out every single day because her udder gets so full and I think it hurts her. I'm now at our separate pen and we just built this lean-to to go with our other barn which this is Miss Violet. She is gonna give birth really soon. She might have two or three. We have no idea. But her udder is also getting really full. So now I have to let out Diamond. This is her next door neighbor and this little lean-to. So this is Diamond. She's gonna be a first-time mom. She's the daughter of Lily. She might have one or two but it depends. She is currently one years old. One year old. Not one years but whatever. One year old. Um yeah now it's time to let out the chickens. Okay so I'm currently just trying to unlock the lock. Okay so this is my chicken coop. I got some signs and then my chickens. Oop that one's confused. But all all my chickens run out to where they're gonna get food and then Lily's coming in. So now I just hang their little feeders on. We put some screws in the wall and then over here we have a hook. So I just put these feeders on the hooks so then the goats can't eat them. She already started. But then oh we already have one egg for today. One egg. I have 11 chickens and my favorite is currently Chubbs. I will go show you Chubbs if I can see her. Oh she's right here. This is Chubbs. Chubbs say hi. That's Chubbs. She's just she's a little camera shy. Anyway now let's go feed. No yeah let's go feed the goats. All right so I'm going in the we call it the kitchen because we make all of their food. Wow that was a big blender. Anyway so I have all their pellets here. They're like they I'm not a big fan of the pellets but I make them eat it. And now I get some cracked corn like one scoop maybe for goats again and pour it in here and then I mix it. And then after that's done we go out. Cutie. We go out and we feed them. I put these guys in here so I can film me doing the chicken. Okay so so now we feed them. So I get their little feed bowls and I just pour it in there. They'll eat it and then I separate them. So someone goes in here the other one goes in there. So on. So we have one little thing left. They'll figure out where they are going. But now I go behind the structure and I built I've built these little playgrounds for my goats. They absolutely love them. They hang out them on They hang out on them all day. And it's amazing. Okay so this is Star. She's on the she's on the milking stand. I just close them on the stand and I have this bungee cord. I have this bungee cord so that it can wrap around the milking stand and hold it tight. So come with me to milk her. Okay so how I milk Star. So I milk her into the ground because I have no need for goat milk and she's gonna be since she lost her kid she has extra milk so when the other three girls give birth which hopefully I'll capture that on video when the other three girls give birth then I will um if I if I need extra milk I got extra milk but I personally don't I or my family does not drink goat milk so I just put her in the ground. The chickens like to peck at it and stuff so yeah so I just grab a teat and I start just milking and milking her out. I do this every day twice a day. It started to rain so we came in and I didn't get the chance to fully milk up Star like I wanted to but I still milked a really good amount so we'll be able to last until this afternoon when I put them up. It's raining right now so I'm currently huddled up with a bunch of chickens and that's Star, Violet, and Diamond and then Lily is in the other pen right next to it eating. So yeah that's it for this morning. See you this afternoon. Now we're done in the morning with the outside animals now let's go to the inside animals. Okay you might not be able to see him but this is my cat. His name's Scratchy. He's about nine I think nine. I've had him since he was a kitten. He's just been he was very chunky but since we got Charlie he's gone on a diet which that's a really good thing. He's the weight that he should be and he doesn't really like people but yeah he is. All right this is my dog Charlie. He's an English Green Golden Retriever and he's about one year old. He's a one year old. So um with with Golden Retrievers they have so much fur like just look at this thing and it's summer and he's starting to shed so it's a lot there's lots of hair like if I'm rubbing him off hair's flying up here but Charlie look up at the screen don't be shy. Oh oh doggy attack. He's just he's just licking the camera but yeah that's Charlie and he loves to see the goats and chickens. That's his favorite hobby. Hey guys I'm back and I'm going to do the afternoon feeding but I just realized I need to go get pellets from our barn so come with me go do that. I'm down at the barn and I feel like the goat feed up. That one's all done now I'm gonna take it up to the kitchen. Back at the chick coop and I'm gonna go I have to get the 11 chickens in and I need to get these four girls all fed so I'm gonna go do that. I'm going to milk Star. I won't make I'll do a time lapse of me milking her again because I won't let oh I you already saw what I did this morning so I'll just do that. I'm done milking Star now so now I'm gonna do water to Diamond's pen and I have this little red bucket set up and it's dirty because they got it dirty through the day so now I'm going to do this take it out and while I'm at it I'm going to redo this water. I have an automatic for this one the other one we just built on so we don't have an automatic yet so so now I'm gonna I got this from Dollar Tree it was just hanging up there so I got this from Dollar Tree and all you have to do is squeeze it for the soap to come out and I'm gonna and I so now there's there's dirt still left in here so that's where I'm gonna take this sponge and just with soap and just scrub around to get all the greasy and slimy things off there so I rinsed the bucket now it's gonna fill up with water now I just leave it there and I go do something else while it fills up and then I transfer that so let's do that I've got an extra bucket of water to to dump it on my milking stand after I milk Star yep we hear you okay she's gonna keep probably vying but I do that just so it doesn't smell like rotten goat milk the next day and tell it and trust me you do not want to smell that smell it's chicken time so I'm gonna I have 11 chickens and I have to get all of them in because they free range around all this woods they have all that woods to free range around and are expected to come lay their eggs but we'll see how many we got today realized I needed to give you all a tour of my chicken coop it I got all the chickens in by the way it's Star we know you want to go to bed it's not that much but it's something so we got a roost we got their food their water which I need to clean um we got eggs so we got one more from this morning and then we'll check under there after I do the tour um they roost up there at night they have multiple roosts that's my chocolate orchard she is so loud me and my dad built this little chicken brooder kind of thing so we have metal roofing on it to get all the poop it just like slides down sometimes I have to scrape it they can roost up there at night and so down here is where the baby chicks would go they haven't used it yet but they have three floors they can go up here down here and even up here it's yeah so they have a whole lot of space to be to get into the chicken group you go put the goats away and then I'm going to do the chickens feed the girls are trained they'll just walk down to their little pen pen slash barn down there they love butt scratches yeah look at Lily looking like a little princess up there huh leg out what is that can you explain we have that so then they don't go on to each other's side because we usually have it all up here and they can go down here and they have hay I built these little mini hay feeders for all four of them because they usually stay down here but now that they're gonna be close to giving birth I'd separate and yes it has the upstairs to this place I'm kind of doing like a little tour so I I'm scared of going up there because there's like wasps and things but I can't we keep all of our hay up there and some wasp spray and extra wood and I probably need to get but yeah all of our hay comes from up there so I got some of the chickens regular pellets just regular pellets from their 50 pound bags and so now we have to add some treats to it because that's how I like to do things um so I got this um blend mix like free range mix how much they like it they're gobbling up their treats let's see how many eggs we got so we got two in here so I can't I'm only using one hand so I can't I'm holding a bowl so chocolate so we got two eggs in here and let's see miss buffy what does miss buffy have she's gonna scream yep yep oh my I've never heard that before okay hey I just want to okay looks like we got two more so oh they're nice and toasty from her she's not broody though so we got four in total not great for 11 chickens this is a bad day for them this is a bad day but yeah thanks for watching today's video don't don't forget to subscribe like and turn on personal notifications I think I don't know something like that but please subscribe this is this is my first youtube or first video on youtube ever first youtube channel so please go subscribe to kelly's arm and flip
