AI GeneratedFernando Alonso discusses his anticipation for the upcoming race in Madrid on a brand-new circuit. He shares his impressions of the track from simulator sessions, reflects on performance issues from Monza, and explains his preparation strategy for debuting on a new layout where driver skill can play a decisive role.
Bochaka, great to see you here in Madrid, an all-new track.
You must be pretty excited to get out there and experience it this weekend.
Yeah, really looking forward to Madrid. It was great on the simulator.
I've been doing it quite a bit and it's really, really nice. Looking forward to this weekend.
You know, I spent some time in Madrid here, got a lot of friends, a lot of
nice things and I think it's going to be one of the best races in the year in terms of atmosphere.
Everything is really special here.
What were the standouts for you when you tried the sim?
I think everything, you know. The run-off areas, basically there are none.
I think it's a proper track. I just think racing,
potentially overtaking, can be a bit tricky. But yeah, a proper track.
I wanted to ask you about Monza as well, what you took from that weekend and
heard you talking about some new parts potentially to help you in a straight line
and also the updated Ferrari power unit as well. When's that all coming for you?
Not for this weekend, unfortunately. We will try, I think, for Baco, which is the next weekend.
It was obvious that we were lacking a lot of top speed. That was the main issue in Monza.
Thank you.
Do you think experienced drivers like yourself will have a bit of an advantage given that,
you know, you've been to the first Azerbaijan, you've been to some of the first ones that
might be a little bit, have some caution required?
I think it's a circuit where the driver, even with these cars, can make a bit of a difference,
you know. So I believe that, you know, especially in a new circuit, new weekend,
I'm optimistic and I hope that I can put my A-game on and make a bit of a difference with
my driving and stuff. It's a weekend that drivers dream of, you know, like
new weekend, new circuit for everyone, a lot of things can happen. So there can be an opportunity.
Thank you.
Dzeko, with this being a new track and nobody's really driven it,
what's your preparation like? Is it just hours and hours in a simulator and hoping it correlates?
Yeah, basically. That's really it. A lot of PlayStation as well. Yeah, that's really it.
I think tomorrow FP1 will be quite important to try and learn and maximise everything.
Can you tell from a simulator session that this is going to be cool?
Yes, yes, already. I mean, to memorise the circuit was really quite tricky. You know,
a lot of corners, a lot of similarities on them. Really cool.
And hopefully a lot of fans for you.
They are looking forward.
