Set across 43 green acres in Victoria’s Yarra Valley, this minimalist family home sits quietly within the landscape. Its folded roofline echoes the surrounding hills, while timber, concrete, glass, steel and travertine create an interior that feels wonderfully warm, grounded and calm.

Designed by Mitsuori Architects and built by ACS Builders, the home was carefully nestled into its sloping site rather than positioned above it. Almost every room frames the surrounding valley, creating the feeling that the landscape is part of the home itself.

Inside, a dramatic central fireplace, oversized concrete kitchen island, eucalyptus-green cabinetry and angled timber ceilings define the open-plan living spaces. Travertine pool tiles, warm copper tapware and a hand-sanded cow trough bath continue the earthy material palette throughout the bathrooms.

We also take a closer look at the new LG OLED evo W6. Its ultra-thin profile, flush-mounted design and wireless connectivity offer an interesting way to integrate technology without distracting from the architecture or the landscape beyond.

But the real heart of this home is the family story behind it. After leaving the Yarra Valley to build their lives in Melbourne, the homeowners eventually returned to the landscape that shaped them. They became deeply involved in the build, installing insulation, sanding the bath, cladding the shed and hand-oiling the timber throughout the house.

What initially appeared to be the ultimate tree change was really a homecoming—and a home designed to remain in the family for generations.
