North Port replants tree canopy lost in Ian

The city of North Port has completed a restoration project on Sumter Blvd, planting 85 new canopy trees to replace those lost during Hurricane Ian. Funded by a federal grant via the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services, the initiative aims to restore the city's canopy, provide shade, and improve long-term storm resilience and stormwater mitigation.
