State police are leading an investigation after a reported stabbing on the Blue Route (I-476) led to a police pursuit Sunday evening that ended at a Sunoco gas station near Villanova University.
A stabbing on the Blue Root sends police on a chase to capture two suspects.
The chaos included a crash involving an officer at a shelter-in-place order at Villanova University.
It is Sunday night. I'm Walter Perez.
The big story in Action News is the investigation into what led up to that stabbing on the Blue Root earlier this evening.
Two suspects have since been taken into custody.
The victim remains in serious condition at the hospital.
Action News reporter Brianna Smith joins us live and Laura Merian with details tonight.
Brianna.
Walter, Pennsylvania State Police are leading this investigation and we're waiting to hear back from them
about what happened and the relationship between those involved.
But what we do know is the police pursuit ended here at the Sunoco gas station
where multiple agencies responded to find the suspects.
Police sources say two suspects are in custody and one victim is in the hospital
following an altercation on the Blue Root Sunday evening.
The incident involving two vehicles began around 5.30 p.m. in the southbound lanes
after the Conchahawken exit.
Sources say a suspect stabbed the victim who was taken to the hospital with serious injuries.
The victim was in this black vehicle sitting on the tow truck's flatbed.
The two suspects reportedly then fled in a U-Haul truck and a police chase ensued.
It came to an end at this Sunoco on Lancaster Avenue in Lower Merian.
Crazy. Kind of something you see on TV every day.
Not something I would have felt I would experience today.
Sources say the suspects threw the knife and ran on foot.
During the police search, Villanova University placed the campus on lockdown out of caution.
Student Grayson Esposito received the alerts.
Their system's actually pretty good, and we got notifications kind of immediately.
The shelter in place was lifted around 6.40 p.m. after the suspects were taken into custody.
Sources say one of them was arrested in a nearby park, putting the community at ease.
There's always concerns with just kind of what goes on,
but as long as the right protocols are being taken for safety and things like that,
then no worries for me.
And as you can see, the gas station is back open after police finished their investigation about a few hours ago.
Sources also say that a Lower Merian police officer crashed during the pursuit.
She was taken to the hospital where she was treated and has since been released.

Walter?
Quite the story. My goodness. Thank you, Breanna.
