AI GeneratedDavid discusses the massive success of the BKFC event at Fenway Park, highlighting the organization's growth from humble beginnings to a mainstream combat sports promotion. He emphasizes the role of strategic risk-taking in their expansion and shares plans for future iconic venues and aggressive international growth.
Fenway Park is one of the, obviously, most historic of stadiums in this country,
and BKFC 92 goes down there this weekend on Saturday. How cool was it looking back, David,
at what was an awesome event to watch? I mean, it was just, it was really unbelievable. Like,
you know, it's like a factory now, right? You're doing event after event after event.
But we had to stop and soak this one in, Mike. I mean, it was unbelievable. We had that place,
like, half-packed exactly the way we wanted it. We had fireworks inside the ring, and we literally
had fireworks in the stadium. It was just, it was an incredible, incredible experience. I mean,
to understand where we've come from with one fight, four people in attendance, to then an
ice skating rink in Cheyenne, Wyoming, to now Fenway Park, I mean, really, truly, it's just,
it's incredible. And I'm really, really happy for everybody on my team, man, because, man,
it was crazy. Like, you had to see them this time. They're always complaining because they're
overworked. And this time, they were like, man, this is unbelievable. Let's, let's, what's next?
What's next? I'm like, man, let's just pump the brakes for a minute here. But to soak it all in,
unbelievable experience, just amazing. I mean, I can't even truly do justice by it,
but putting it into words, man, it was really amazing. When you were, you know, way back in
the day, when you are in front of four people and then at an ice skating rink, I mean, is there
any part in your brain that said this would be a possibility?
Never, never, ever. I mean, if you asked me two years ago, would we do Fenway Park,
I would say, nah, we're not doing Fenway Park. We couldn't two years ago, but to do Fenway Park,
that just opened up so many doors for us because we didn't just do Fenway Park. We, you know,
proverbially and literally, we hit a grand slam there, man. We nailed it at Fenway Park. So
had we done it there and not really did that great, it, you know, wouldn't have mattered.
It opened up so many doors already just today. It's crazy. It opened up so many doors, man.
It's freaking awesome, man.
Wow. So are you already hearing, whether it's sponsors or from other venues,
are you hearing from people, David, because of the success?
I'm hearing from venues, especially number one, a couple of sponsors we had there
at the event. They're like, when can you sign the contract? When can you send it?
Like, let's go. I don't want to miss this boat. And actually a major,
major television platform that I had a guest there, um, one of the top guys there,
they came back to me today and said, um, let's, let's have a call on Wednesday and,
and see what we can do. So, wow. Yeah, man. Really, really unbelievable. I mean,
watching it on TV, it was incredible being there live. It was the loudest crowd. I mean,
in any sporting event that I've really ever, it was unbelievable. Mike, it was so cool, man.
You know, I've got to imagine you were so used to putting on fights in arenas and that's like
second nature for you, David, but there gotta be a ton of challenges for work, you know,
different dimensions. It's a, it's a baseball stadium. I mean, I got to imagine this was not
an easy thing to even pull off period. And let alone, like you said, hitting a grand slam.
It wasn't because you, you, you hit these little speed bumps along the way that you don't know
you're going to hit. For instance, the day before, when we were setting up the ring, we didn't know,
you know, we were told the slope was like an inch from home plate to the back wall.
The slope was actually four inches. So we had to figure that out. So we weren't like that.
Right. I mean, just different things that we had to figure out along the way. Obviously,
the one thing that we were fingers crossed all the way for was the weather and we got the best
weather we could have ever imagined. Just truly, man, Mike, man, this one was unbelievable. I'm
so happy for this one, but there's so many big things to come off of this one and great fights.
The thing I love most about this event, there wasn't any real big name stars on this card.
This was BKFC guys that we built on the ground up and we did, you know, thousands and thousands
of people. And we already have some of our viewership in and, you know, we did a deal
with TikTok live and we are, we're knocking on the door of 30 million viewers just from TikTok.
Incredible. I know you said there were other venues that had reached out. Would you do another
or more baseball stadiums? I mean, is that a, is that a configuration that you liked? And if so,
I know it's always what's next. And that's an annoying question because you just pull off this
awesome feat, but what is, what is next? Absolutely though. A hundred percent,
the baseball stadiums work for us because the way we get the ring on home plate, and then we have
all those good seats around. We don't have to cover the field and do all these seats on the
field. Stands were packed. We had like 300 people on the field. That was it. And it was just a
phenomenal, phenomenal thing. So what's next is absolutely. It's going to be another baseball
stadium and targeting one in my head right now that we're already doing business with them anyway.
And if we can pull that one off, that one's going to be the one.
Okay. An iconic stadium. Is it fair to assume that?
Iconic. Absolutely. That's going to be, I think we're going to get it done.
And then other than that, we just have all this really huge, unbelievable international growth
going on right now. We'll be in 16 countries by the end of the year. So it's, it's doing,
it's doing wonders, Mike. Yeah. I mean, I think it's incredible. It's undeniable. And I don't
know that I ever thought that the sport would become this big, like it has. And I mean, yet
here we are. Do you, what was the turn? What do you think the turning point was, David? I mean,
why, or was there one, or is it just people have this appetite for this primal thing that is
fighting and bare knuckle is one of the, you know, it's one of the most real forms of fighting,
right? It's how a fight would look in the street. Why, why has it exploded like this?
I think it's the risks that we took, like, like the risks, getting bigger fighters on there and
not knowing that we had the money to pay for them at the time, to be very honest with you,
like taking the risks. And this was another risk, like not just a risk with the weather and a risk
with the setup, but it was a risk. Like, Hey, if we don't get, you know, 10, 15, 20,000 people
there, it's going to look ----. Right. It's not going to look good there at Fenway park. So that
was a big risk for us just taking these different financial and, and other types of risks, I think
is what got us there because like, when you talk to UFC, they're, they don't need to take risks.
They took a risk in Washington, DC, but it's a different calculator risk for them. They don't
need to take risks. We order for people to talk about us. I probably wouldn't be doing this
interview with you. Had I done a smaller arena somewhere, I'm did Fenway park took a risk.
Now I got a great interview with you, right? So it's the risks that we took that, that made us
take them steps up that ladder rungs. And, um, and here we are, here we are. Like I said,
on Saturday night, I'm always very humble about our beginnings and where we were, but
we are here now. We literally, we are in mainstream of combat sports right now. And I don't think
there's more than maybe two promotions ahead of us right now. Definitely one, maybe two.
It's a great story. I mean, it really is an incredible, incredible story. So is that the
guiding kind of vision now, even going forward, despite the fact that you are established now,
David, that we're going to keep doing things, we're going to keep making people talk about us.
And, um, that's the idea until we're in a very comfortable position where we don't need to do
that. We're going to do things that make people talk about us. And internally, the conversations
we had today were, were phenomenal. And obviously I'm a risk taker, so they thought they were going
to scare me. And I'm like, let's do it. We can do it. We can say, let's take a rocket ship to
the moon and see if we can have a bare knuckle put in the moon. I'm like, oh man. Right. So,
so I, I just, we're always going to push the envelope as much as we have to because we have
to. And then when we don't have to, we're still going to do the best events that we can possibly
do. But by pushing the envelope, like I said, people are talking and people are, are watching
it now. And if you watch it as a fan of combat sports, not a bare knuckle, if you watch this,
it really, truly, in my opinion, anyway, it's the most exciting thing out there.
There's nothing more exciting. There is some fun fights out there, but as sport in general,
you get 90% great fights every time. Yeah, absolutely. Truth cannot be denied.
Anything else you want to say, David, or that we didn't touch on that you'd like to talk about?
No, I mean, all good. We have, we have, we have a huge show coming up on September 26th in
Manchester at the, at the AO arena. We should sell that one out. The good thing about that is last
September we were there 6,500 tickets sold. This time we'll be there. We're going to sell 18,000
tickets. So we're really moving up in the world, all over the world. And, and this is incredible
for us. And, and then by the end of the year, we're going to, we're going to Serbia. We're
going to the Republic of Georgia. We're going to Poland. So we have a lot of different things that
we're expanding on and we're going back to Australia on October 3rd. How did the other
countries like it, David? Are they fans of bare knuckle the same way the American fans are?
Quote what Dana White said. Dana White said the only sport in the world that's truly global,
global is combat sports. Everybody gets it right. Like it doesn't matter if you're from, you know,
China, Australia, or America, you know what a bare knuckle punch to the face is. You get it.
You understand it. People do it all over the world. So it's universal. So because of that,
our fan base around the world is actually almost as good, if not better than the United States.
