The suspect claims he acted in self defense tonight for the first time.
We're hearing the 911 call and seeing the cell phone video taken moments
before the deadly shooting. Tisha Lewis has the exclusive tonight from Oxon
Hill. We spoke with the victim's father who lives in this neighborhood here at
National Harbor. We're told the couple's 18 month old baby witnessed the
shooting. It's been three months since all of this happened. Still no arrests
and also still no charges. And the accused shooter who we are trying to
locate and also contact saying that this was all self defense. The
predator that came to the house, he walked in the door, he shot my son, he
waited a certain amount of time before he called the ambulance. They use
vulgar languages. When I heard the 911 tape, when I got the autopsy from
Baltimore, it showed that it was an overkill. Not only did he shoot my son,
they kick and punch my son in the dominant area where he was shot at
multiple times. Don Young shared this cell phone video exclusively with Fox
five. He says it was taken just moments before his son, 23 year old Dwight
Young was fatally shot, allegedly by his girlfriend's father. Don Young says
the video is an exchange between the couple. The victim reportedly stating
that he wanted to end the relationship. That's when Don Young says the
victim's girlfriend texted her father. He showed up and shot Dwight Young in
the abdomen. We reached out to the Prince George's County State's
Attorney's Office and they say, quote, the case is an active investigation.
Therefore, they are unable to comment and or provide a statement on the
matter. At this time, the victim's father has retained an attorney and a
private investigator and shared this 911 call with Fox five. Was anyone
hurt? Yes, the person, uh, just charged my weapon with the police and
ambulance right here. You know, how does somebody who felt there was
self defense go over to the victim, stand over top of him and call him a
week again? We're trying to locate and contact the accused shooter for his
side of the story. In this case, we also reached out to Prince George's
County police for some additional information. We're still awaiting their
response. Meanwhile, the victim's family says that he worked in security
and was amid the interview process to become a police officer at the
Pentagon. Convicted of groping girls at a Fairfax high school is now in ice
custody. 19 year old Israel Flores Ortiz is in the country illegally from El
Salvador, sentenced back in April and was supposed to serve about a year
behind bars. But he reportedly got caught credit for time served and good
behavior. Fox five's from a bash live tonight in Fairfax to explain the
latest details. Homer Maria Israel Flores Ortiz was released three days
earlier than he was scheduled after he served his time here at the Fairfax
County Detention Center. And we just learned from the Fairfax County
Sheriff's Office that he was in fact released right into ice custody.
Heartening to see that the sheriff's department apparently actively
cooperated with ice and observed that they needed to transfer custody. Now
it's under Virginia law. They have to, but we've seen other instances in
other jurisdictions where they've actively thwarted ice or intentionally
kept them in the dark in order to comply with their local trust policies.
Now Ortiz, who is 19 years old, was convicted of assaulting nine girls
while he attended Fairfax High School. Victims saying he would come up behind
them and crowded hallways and grab them between the legs. He faced up to nine
years behind bars, but actually spent less than six months in jail. He was
scheduled to be released September 3rd this Thursday, but according to the
sheriff's office, he was let out just before noon today. Instead, in
compliance with the Virginia law that lets jails transfer prisoners to ice
custody five days before their release date. We should note that at times the
Fairfax County Sheriff's Office does not honor ice detainers and the
Department of Homeland Security. Well, they've been very vocal about this
case, saying they want Ortiz out of the country, calling out Virginia's
immigration policies. Now you're going to hear part of an interview with one
of the victims who spoke to Fox five back in June. He didn't get away with
it. And well, he's guilty with my case, and that's what I'm satisfied about. I
don't think it's fair for a guy to get away with that. And there are a lot of
people to blame for what happened here, including the schools, including state
law that allowed an adult man to attend the school with 14 year old girls. And
I'm glad to see that there's been some form of justice in the sense that he's
being removed. But it's unfortunate that it was a little too late again.
Fairfax County Sheriff's Office did release Ortiz from their custody after
he served his sentence and into ice custody. We have reached out to the
agency and the Department of Homeland Security to see what the next steps are
here and whether or not he will be deported from the U. S. Back to El
Salvador, where he is from the morning. The loss of a barbershop owner, Gogo
band, mother, member and father. Craig Bud Senior was killed in a pedestrian
crash in Montgomery County. Fox five Shamari Stone is live in Gaithersburg
with more summary. Craig Bud Senior was well liked. He was cherished. He was a
youth mentor. He owned Major League Barbershop, located across the street
from where I'm standing here from Frederick Road. Now there's the
building. Now a friend tells me that he believes that Craig was crossing the
street near where you're looking at right here to get over to this area
where there is a bus stop. Well, that is where the car hit him. And tonight his
family, his friends, they are remembering him and they want to know
why this had to happen and what's going to happen next. 61 year old Craig Bud
Senior from Gaithersburg is remembered as a loving father of two adult
Children, a grandfather of four girls, the owner of Major League Barbershop in
Montgomery Village and a musician and manager of high potential a go go band
in the early eighties. His life ended here around eight o'clock last Friday
night. That's when police say Craig was walking north of the intersection of
professional drive in North Frederick Avenue when the driver and a BMW hit
him. Craig died and the driver stayed on the scene tonight. Detectives telling
us the driver is cooperating with the investigation. Meanwhile, you're now
going to hear from Craig Bud Senior's cousin and friend can't put the pieces
together yet. Um, it's really hard to relate to because, you know, just out of
the blue, I get a phone call that he's gone and, you know, not due to it, not
because of a health issue, but because, you know, of a, an accident. So my friend
would still be here if it wasn't for that accident. So I'm still trying. Man,
this loss is, is huge. Um, you know, we used to have the kids come in and show
their progress reports and give him free haircuts. And, um, you know, and it's
hard to think like, you know, like, how could this happen? Um, but, you know,
he's just, he's truly gonna be missed. Definitely going to be missed. I've
heard nothing but great things about him today. Now, as for this
investigation, Montgomery County Police say it's going to take months to be
completed. Meanwhile, if you have any information about what happened out
here, call Montgomery County Police. I'm Shamari Stone on the roads in
Maryland, seven people killed across four separate crashes, and that includes
three people killed in a head on collision yesterday afternoon in
Allegheny County. Plus a wrong way deadly crash on 2 70. And now the man
accused of driving drunk and killing a mother and daughter in a head on
collision will remain in jail. The judge today calling him a danger to the
community. Fox five's Bob Barnard live outside the Montgomery County
Courthouse in Rockville with an update tonight, Bob.
Yeah, Marina and Jim, the 32 year old suspect went before a judge this
afternoon. His name is Jose Caballero in Alaska of Germantown. He's facing a
number of charges, including negligent manslaughter and homicide by vehicle.
He is originally from El Salvador, been in this country for 10 years and by all
accounts has never been in trouble with the law before. Now, at the Islamic
Center of Maryland this afternoon, that's up in Gaithersburg, a funeral
for the mother and daughter killed in Saturday night's crash. The mom was 46,
her daughter, 23. They were from northern Virginia on their way home to
Burke. At the time of the crash, they were passengers killed in a Toyota
Camry in the southbound lanes of I 270 near Democracy Boulevard around 6 45
p.m. Saturday. The husband and father of the women killed was driving. He and
his eight year old daughter survived the collision, but she was critically
injured, struck head on by Caballero in Alaska's Ford Mustang. It was driving
northbound in the southbound lanes. Now, Maryland State Police say the fatal
crash happened about two minutes after another driver called 911 to report
the Mustang going in the wrong way on I 270. That was near River Road. Caballero
in Alaska was injured in the crash, smelled of alcohol, according to police
had bloodshot eyes and slurred speech. No signs of breaking before the crash.
As was noted in court today, the defendant did make some admissions
about driving. Once the state troopers arrived on the scene, there were some
beer bottles that were that he agreed that he admitted that he had been
drinking. I would say that he stunned. He appeared to be in shock. I'm not
sure that he has comprehended the severity of the situation at this time.
Now, just this past Friday, Montgomery County police announced it would be
eliminating its five member alcohol initiatives unit. It's D. U. I
enforcement team blaming it on staffing shortages, telling us that unit will
remain intact for another three weeks and that in a recent one month period
had made only four D. U. I. Arrest while the rest of the department's officers
had made 42. I did not know that announcement was gonna be made. Let me
say I was not a party to that conversation to end that unit. I
understand their challenge. Uh, it's a cruel irony
that this happened the day after that announcement came out. Now the suspect
has been ordered held without bond. The total time served in prison that he
faces if convicted on the current charges is about 23 years. We've asked
john McCarthy, his attorney, a number of people in terms of the suspect's
immigration status. Nobody seems to know. Kill somebody who owed him money
will stay behind bars more than a year after the murder of Montgomery County.
Police say they know who orchestrated the murder for hire plot. Fox has home
a bash live at the courthouse in Rockville with the stunning admission
made in text messages. Homa
marina. Jim. Good evening. Lots of layers to this one today in court. 23
year old bikini. Ayala was charged with murder for hiring someone he knew
to kill another man apparently for owing him $2,000. Now the killing
happened last march 2025 on Fairdale Terrace in Silver Spring in the middle
of the day on a saturday 11 a.m. In a busy town home community. The
prosecutor today saying the man who pulled the trigger, David Lacey fired
21 shots from a Glock with an extended magazine killing Jonah Matua. Lacey was
arrested by Montgomery County Police a month after the crime will now homicide
detectives say after investigating for the last year, they're also charging
Ayala with murder for hiring Lacey in court documents. We learned that text
messages from Lacey's phone described him wanting to be like a famous movie
hit man saying his hit man business is picking up basically bragging about all
of it. Prosecutors say that I L. A. Gave Lacey the victim's photo exact
location, what car he'd be in all to have him set up to be killed. Lacey was
already indicted for murder last year. His trial is scheduled to begin in just
two weeks. I spoke with a criminal defense attorney and former prosecutor
who is not connected to this case but has practiced law here for more than 50
years. The General Assembly in Maryland has specifically made the person who
hires someone for a murder to be guilty of first degree murder. Okay, so you
don't have to be the one pulling the trigger. Exactly. And that's by statute
and and that's pretty much the law in every jurisdiction in the United States
and in federal court. And the judge today ordering I. L. A. To be held without
bond. His next appearance is September 25th. It is not clear at this point if
any money was exchanged, how much money was exchanged for this alleged hit and
this murder for hire plot. But we're expecting those details to be released
as this case continues to move forward. Eyebrow tattoo artist who's being sued
for alleged harassment. The customer at the center claims it was all about her
religion and nationality. Bob bartered with details tonight from Alexandria.
The civil rights lawsuit was filed against an old town Alexandria beauty
salon by a woman who claims she was denied service because she's israeli
american and has then been threatened and harassed after the business owner
posted this video on tiktok. I came here to do a service. I had no idea that
ethnicity. I didn't speak politics at all about it. No, but I made a post on
my instagram that said if you support Israel, I'm just like, I didn't see
your instagram. I didn't look at your instagram. I just heard wonderful
things about you. Well, thank you very much. All my clients are really happy.
I really like it, but I really, I really don't support even a sticker
right here. Is this free Palestine? The video documents a visit customer
Jessica Walton made to Fatana Karimi's eyebrow tattoo business back on august
13th. The recording started after Karimi says she told Walton to leave
her salon without getting her deposit refunded. This Miss Karimi says was
after Walton wouldn't stop talking about middle east politics. Then
mentioned she was a dual citizen of the U. S. And Israel. Here's more of what
was said in that video and reaction from an attorney representing Miss
Walton in her civil rights complaint filed with the Virginia A. G. S. Office.
This is, this is my business. This is mine. That's totally fine. But you
should give me my deposit back. And if you don't, I'm gonna have to take legal
action. Within seconds of leaving the salon, she was in tears having been a
victim of this. Um, and was extraordinarily upset for days. Um, when
the matter went viral and she began receiving horrible threats of rape and
death. Um, and other things that are too horrible to speak. I don't hide the
fact that I don't support Israel and I don't like Israel. I think everybody
knows that. But then she brings up the fact that she's is really american and
I ignore that because I don't really care where you're from. It really
doesn't matter to me. If I wanted to get into politics, I would have ran for
office. I do eyebrows to be clear. This case is not about punishing criticism
of Israel. Um, the right to criticize Israel though is not a right to
discriminate against Israelis. And that's an important point. The
complaint is asking Virginia's office of civil rights to among other things,
investigate whether what occurred last month was unlawful discrimination.
Karimi permanent makeup was closed when we visited this afternoon. It's in an
office building here on King Street. We have tried reaching out to Fatana
Karimi to get her response to this lawsuit, but have been unsuccessful so
far of a home confront somebody trying to break in. And now the search is on
for that suspect. Fox five Shamari stone has this story tonight for us
from Alexandria show. Well, this was a bizarre alleged burglary. Now that
suspect they say gained access by being here on the street. He comes to a gate
similar to this one that was unlocked and then gained access to backyards
climbing over fences like it was a gladiator style obstacle course like a
spider man or something. They say he then gets to a house and was able to
get inside. And that is when that homeowner confronted him. He gets
spooked. He allegedly grabbed something, comes back outside here out on the
street and he's somewhere to be found. And right now police are searching for
him. They want your help identifying him.
The suspect shown in this surveillance image dressed in a white T shirt, white
shorts, white socks, no shoes standing by a hot tub in this backyard in the
landmark Muse community. Fairfax County police say this suspect just finished
breaking in a town home on the 6300 block of Manchester Way around 8 45 last
friday morning. Police telling me he got in the house through the rear door
searching for items, grabbing clothes and then running away after the
homeowner confronts him. While police investigate people in this Alexandria
community hope they catch the suspect. Yeah, I think it can help us catch him
for sure. Um, you know, being someone who walks around all the time and
seeing people, I think it's a good direction we can look at to see if we
can catch him. We're always watching each other in this community and very
concerned with each other's welfare. Actually surprised that this type of
event would occur in this neighborhood. Never had any issues like this.
That's right. People in this neighborhood tell me that it is quiet.
Now, folks who say they have fences like this one, a woman tells me that
she's going to make sure that she keeps it locked because she believes that the
gained access to the backyards because of her unlocked fence. As for this
investigation again, if you recognize him, call the Fairfax County Police
Department. I'm Shamari Stone here in Alexandria and just the second week of
classes across Montgomery County. Already two weapons have been found on
one campus and what appear to be separate incidents. The school placed
on lockdown. One student arrested McGrew High had weapons detectors as
part of a pilot program, but they have since been removed. Oh, sorry about
that. Bob Barnard live in Rockville tonight with the story, bob.
Yeah. Hey, Jim and Marina. It was a stressful start to school day here at
Magruder High School. We're talking right around nine o'clock this morning.
Both a BB gun and a knife were discovered inside the school. A 15 year
old student was arrested. He's being charged with first degree assault,
possession of a dangerous weapon on school property and disruption of a
school day. The teen allegedly fought with a staff member and school security
officer when they confronted him after receiving a report of a student with a
gun in school. Now, while investigating that report, another student was found
with a knife. We're told that student was cooperative and his disciplinary
consequences will be handled by the school system. Now, Magruder was placed
on a hold status for a time. Then classes resumed as normal. Some parents
though, opting to come to the school and take their kids home. So some kid
came in and decided to bring a BB gun into school and then another kid
thought it would be cool to bring a knife into school and I decided to
leave school because I don't feel safe. I just came to pick my son up. He's in
a program for kids with anxiety and had a panic attack. So I just came to pick
him up to take him home. I don't know if they have these scams in there or
maybe they can get like how to protection where they start running
kids, checking kids before they get to play. They did last year as a pilot
program, but they don't any longer. I think they should reconsider making
that a mandatory thing just for our kids safety. Now that short term pilot
program here at Magruder, Bethesda, Chevy Chase and Seneca Valley High
Schools has ended those A. I. Threat detection systems no longer employed
anywhere within M. C. P. S. Now we're told this school's full time community
engagement officer is a Montgomery County Sheriff's deputy. Now across our
region, only D. C. Fairfax and Prince George's County public schools have
metal detectors, X ray machinery or walk through weapons detection systems
at all of their high schools and some, if not all of their middle schools. But
safety experts tell us you need more than just smart technology to keep
students and staff safe. What is extremely important, no matter how much
tech you have is the training and the ability to respond confidently and
quickly. And that's where the you know, see something, say something comes into
play and the measures from the school to give that that training because
that's what it comes down to is the confidence and response. Now, four years
ago here at Magruder High School in a boy's bathroom, one teenager shot
another. The one the victim was seriously wounded. The shooter, a 17
year old was sentenced to 18 years in prison and on underway for a
Spotsylvania man accused of raping women at local massage spots. Fox five
Sydney Persing is in Spotsylvania County now with the disturbing details
and the suspect's I. D. This guy is accused of raping two women employees
at two different local massage spots here on the same road and several
months apart tonight. Police say they don't know where he is and they're
asking for your help to find him. His name is Cesar Mario Torres Juarez of
Spotsylvania, 30 years old. Take a good look at his face and also his tattoos.
The sheriff's office says back in March they got a report of a woman being
raped while at work at a massage therapy business here on Plank Road.
But at the time they said they weren't able to identify a suspect. That was
until this Monday, August 31st when Fredericksburg PD got a call from
another massage spa again on Plank Road. A woman there said she'd also been
raped while working. Investigators say that is when they realized the crimes
were connected and identified Torres Juarez as their suspect in both. But
police say tonight they can't find him. He is actively wanted now in
Fredericksburg for rape, forcible sodomy, object sexual penetration,
abduction with intent to defile and strangulation. Then also rape,
abduction by force, assault and battery in Spotsylvania County. They are
asking any victims of unreported assaults to come forward. Law
enforcement expert and retired FBI agent Richard Coco told me it's very
possible there are more victims out there. It's unlikely that this person
walked into these two different massage parlors and committed these assaults.
He's been charged with and hasn't done any other crimes. So that gives law
enforcement a lot of places that they can search. They'll talk to the other
massage powers. They'll even see if he may have scouted out the two that he
may have committed these crimes in. Now, while investigators don't know exactly
where he is, they do believe Juarez might be in South Boston. That's a
small town in Virginia and say they're actively searching for him right now.
He is 5 10 about £175 with black hair. And then again, those tattoos police
are asking anyone who might have seen or had contact with him to call the
Spotsylvania Sheriff's Office or Fredericksburg Police Department. And
one more important note. There are several massage spas here on Plank
Road tonight. Police have still not identified at which specific locations
they believe these crimes occurred.
