Cocks were dropping for a good cause today as hockey players hit the ice for a marathon
that's about a lot more than the final score.
The annual Labor Day Weekend Marathon brings players together for 24 straight hours of
hockey, all to raise money for local charities.
The organization supports people and families facing addiction, mental illness and cancer.
Hockey helps also support children and young people dealing with illness, economic hardship
and other challenges.
We've been doing this for 13 years now, playing hockey and raising money for local charities.
It's really a grassroots effort.
And when we're done today, we'll have raised $7 million since we started.
To get to this stage in life, I feel like I've been very fortunate for much of my life.
It's about giving back to people and trying to help those that have gone through the circumstances
and things in life that I haven't even had to experience.
I'm very grateful for it, but I'm very happy to be here to be able to help out.
Cocks may stop after 24 hours, but organizers hope the help they provide keeps going all year long.
