100,000 Subscribers Magic Card Trick Tutorial

Hello again everybody. Today is Saturday, August 6, 2011 and I've just reached an incredible YouTube milestone. Never in my wildest dreams would I have imagined back on October 17, 2008 when I opened my YouTube account and I took my cell phone and videotaped one of my hermit crabs changing shells that my channel would grow into what it has. Almost 38 million video views and now 100,000 subscribers. So I want to thank each and every one of you, all my subscribers, all my friends, every one of you who have watched my videos, even all of you haters out there. I love all of you. So I don't know how I'm going to celebrate yet but first I wanted to show you a really cool card trick tutorial. Now Andy Field Magic and I have collaborated on about 14 videos. This might be the 15th one. He has a really cool card trick. The slides are not that difficult. I think it will amaze people. So before you watch my tutorial click on the link, watch Andy Field Magic's performance, then come back and I'll show you how the trick is done. Okay for this trick you're going to need a little setup. What you're going to need are three of the same cards from each deck. You want two different colored back decks. So I'm using my bicycle blue, bicycle green. Now I'm going to use the same three cards that Andy does. The two of spades, the four of clubs, the eight of diamonds from the blue deck and the two of spades, the four of clubs and the eight of diamonds from the green deck. And since we're going to give the spectator the green deck we're going to set these cards in our deck. The way we're going to do that is we're going to take the two four and eight of the blue cards place them on top of the deck and then take the two four and eight the green cards and place them right near the bottom of the deck. So every two cards or so just place them right near the bottom. And the reason for this is when we do the we make sure we do not want to flash the green cards. So now you're all set. Put the cards back in the box and you're ready to approach your first victim spectator. And you say okay here you can have this nice looking green deck and I'll take the blue deck. What I'd like you to do is shuffle your deck and I'll shuffle mine. Now Andy does a pharaoh shuffle. It's not really necessary but you want to do two things. You want to maintain the three force cards on top of the deck and you do not want to flash the green cards that are on the bottom. So if I cut half the cards and I do a real tight little shuffle just like this I will not flash the green cards and I will maintain the three cards on top of the deck. The spectator is not really going to be focusing on my shuffle because they're going to be taking their cards and shuffling. So everything's going to look like we're both shuffling the deck and everything is cool. There's no nothing tricky going on. Then you're going to say to the spectator now the way this is set up here I still have the green cards all near the bottom. So I can do swing false cuts and keep my keep the cards near the top of the deck. You say to the spectator now what I'd like you to do is cut the cards. So what I'm going to do now is I'm going to give the cards a swing false cut and I have a tutorial for swing false cut right down there. All the links will be in the description box as well. Andy does a really cool false cut where he swing cuts the cards and then hits the pack right against it and then sets the bottom back down on the bottom and it looks like the cards are actually cut. Well the spectator in the meantime can cut their cards as many times as they like and now you say okay now what I'd like you to do is take the top card off of your deck without looking at it and put it on the top of my deck and I'll give you the top card from my deck. Now cut the cards into your deck give it one cut and I'll do the same. What I'm actually doing is I'm lifting the card up catching a thumb break right underneath that card and now I'm going to do a double undercut. Andy Field has a great tutorial on the double undercut right over here and what that is is you hold that thumb break you're going to take half the cards move it to the top maintaining that break and then take the remaining half of the cards and move it to the top. So what you've just done is you've controlled their card to the bottom of the deck and this is a meaningless card all three of their selections are going to be meaningless because we're going to ditch them at the end. So now what you say to the spectator is okay let's just mix the cards and once again do another swing false cut and another false cut just like that so it looks like the cards are cut and the spectator can cut their cards a couple of times if they like and you say let's do it again give me one card for the top of my deck and I'll give you a card for the top of your deck and you can cut the card cards your deck and once again get a thumb break and do a double undercut one and two. So now you've controlled two green cards to the bottom so now once again you can do a swing false cut and another false cut so it looks like you're cutting the cards while the spectator is also cutting the cards. So you say one more final time let's do that I'm going to give you a card you give me a card you take their card they take your card and they're focusing on cutting their card your card into their deck and once again you catch a thumb break and for the third time you take half the cards and then you take the remaining half of the cards move them to the top and now you've controlled all three green cards to the bottom of the deck. So you can now tell the spectator that you're going to shuffle them up again and they'll give their cards another cut again if they like and what you're now going to do is while they're doing that you want to do a pinky count and count down three cards so you want to get those three cards so you can catch a thumb break because what you're going to do is you're going to ditch these three cards so you you count down with your pinky the three cards at the bottom and Zach magiczak24 has a great video for a pinky count click on the link here to check out his tutorial on how to pinky count the cards. So now that you've got your thumb break right over here what you're going to ask you're going to say to the spectator okay let me have the deck back so what we did was from my deck i gave you three cards and you mixed them into your deck and from your deck you gave me three cards and i mixed them into my deck now here's the move as i cross my hands i'm going to ditch these three cards and drop them on top of the green deck and in the same motion i'm going to spread the cards out from my deck so you say so i you my cards are mixed in your deck your cards are mixed in my deck drop the three cards spread the cards and now you spread your cards so now you show the spectator that from your deck they gave you one two three cards and these are the green cards the two of spades the four of clubs the eight of diamonds and in my deck i have in your deck i gave you three cards now how do magicians do their tricks is it luck is it coincidence or is it just pure sleight of hand and the decks can be examined and people will be absolutely amazed so i think this is a brilliant trick because it's not that difficult anybody can do it if you have just basic knowledge sleight of hand and it will blow people away so let me know what you think that's it it's saturday night i think i'm going to go out and party and celebrate 100,000 subscribers once again thank you everybody i appreciate all of your support that's it i'll see you next time
