Freedom Fuel Network expanded to Detroit as a federal lawsuit intensifies over the alleged
supply behind some of the Trump-touted discount gas stations, according to CNBC.
Freedom Fuel's Detroit station is selling Michigan's cheapest gas at $3.47 per gallon
and is the network's first location outside Pennsylvania and New Jersey.
Mansfield Oil alleges,
KRSM obtained more than 1.1 million gallons of fuel between May and July
and failed to pay about $4 million.
Mansfield says some of that fuel was sold to Freedom Fuel stations.
The supplier also alleges KRSM violated an Aug. 28 court order requiring $2.75 million
to remain in an M&T bank account, which it says is now underfunded by about $2.25 million.
Freedom Fuel is not a defendant.
CNBC requested comment on the court filings from attorneys for KRSM,
Syed Kazmi, Mansfield Oil, and Freedom Fuel Network.
KRSM attorney Mauro Tucci said the company disputes the allegations and characterized
the case as an accounting dispute over fuel invoices it says Mansfield Oil mispriced.
