We are exactly one week away until the Giants report
to Sulphur Spring, West Virginia for trading camp,
ladies and gentlemen.
I can smell the morning dew on the grass.
So since Giants football is back in today's blue rush,
we're going to be talking about the guys on offense who
needs to have a breakout year.
Paul Schwartz, our Giants beat writer for the Post,
is on going into training camp number, what for you,
Paul?
33, I believe.
My first one was 94 in Fairleigh Dickinson University
in Madison, New Jersey.
Dan Reeves was in his second year as the head coach.
And I remember it being incredibly hot.
The field was like down like a little ravine,
like a little hill.
And it was really hot.
That's what I remember.
I'm hoping we're going to gain about 2,000 feet of altitude,
going to White Sulphur Springs.
So I looked it up the other day.
I think that the Meadowlands is like 17 feet or something
above sea level or something.
And White Sulphur Springs is like 1,880, almost 2,000 feet
above sea level.
So let's breathe in that nice crisp air
and get some cooler temperatures and go at it
in White Sulphur Springs, which reminds me of Radiator Springs
from the movie Cars.
You like Radiator?
You like Cars?
Cars?
You like the movie Cars?
I got a three, bro.
I love Cars.
What's the red?
Radiator Springs.
There we go.
That's what it sounds like.
There we go.
And it's like, you talk about the altitude.
It's like playing a World Cup match at MetLife
to Estadio Azteca down in Mexico.
But I'm an Albany guy.
I'm a 07, Albany.
I remember I drove my red truck, Clifford, the big red truck.
I called it.
It was an Avalanche.
I drove from Massachusetts.
I took, was it 80 or 90?
90, all the way across to Albany.
90, went all the way across.
My brother actually drove out there with me,
dropped me off and stuff.
So I remember that.
But there are a lot of guys, obviously,
going into this training camp and need
to have, one, big training camps, two, big seasons.
And we're going to talk about those guys today.
On the offensive side of the football,
we've both got three.
And we kind of differ on opinions on one of them.
So we're going to go four today.
We're just going to go back and forth when it comes to it.
We're going to start with, obviously, a guy who's
made the news rounds again, Paul.
But I would say, depending on who you ask,
for the wrong reasons.
Cam Scatterbull with the back flip at Fanatics Fest
didn't land it.
I didn't see any Dominic Dawes in him with the landing,
didn't stick the landing.
And then a lot of people are saying, all right,
this kid is already doing too much,
going into a full season.
I'm going to start with you.
Cam Scatterbull, in order for him
to be looked at as a true threat in the backfield,
a real NFL threat running or running back,
how big of a year does Cam Scatterbull need to have?
Well, he needs to have a, not a Derrick Henry big year,
but he needs to have, he probably
needs to lead this team in rushing,
even though Tyrone Tracy is certainly
capable of doing that as well.
Here's this whole back flip gate thing,
whatever it was, right?
At Fanatics Fest, he said the ground was too bouncy, right?
So he didn't stick it and everyone went,
when he didn't stick it and he kind of fell backwards,
everyone was like, oh my God, the ankle, right, the ankle.
It's not the ankle.
He said, I'm not going to do anything to hurt myself.
Before we talk about him on the field, I mean, off the field,
here is my level of interest and caring
about what Cam Scatterbull did at Fanatics Fest.
Slim to none, almost nothing.
And I don't think the Giants care about it either.
I don't think they care about it.
You know what I mean?
It's the off season and these are young guys.
And I think if John Harbaugh and Joe Sheen got together
and said, here's what we want for our players
in the off season, here's the perfect plan.
It would not include back flips.
It would not include strange social media posts.
It would not include some of the things that these guys do.
And you know what?
They could say the same thing about 23 year old sons
or nephews or cousins.
Young people do things that older people sometimes go,
really, do you really have to do that?
I don't think it's a big deal.
I really don't.
I don't think Cam Scatterbull
was doing anything to harm himself.
It's the off season and things,
I'm sure 20, 30 years ago,
guys were doing things way crazier than that,
but they weren't going viral in video.
So that's my take on Cam Scatterbull and the back flip.
You know, I'm not gonna be this old grouchy guy that says,
he could have hurt himself.
That's a disaster.
He should be studying and have his feet up and be rehabbing.
He's fine.
He practiced at the end of the OTAs.
I think he's gonna hit the ground running in training camp.
I think he'll be smart with him now
as a running back moving forward.
That's the topic of a lot of this show, right?
You know, he averaged 4.1 yards per carry as a rookie, right?
I think when you look inside the numbers,
they were not this devastatingly effective running back
that people kind of took out of his rookie year
because they loved the thought of Cam Scatterbull
in the, you know, eight games he played until he got hurt.
He played in six games that he played,
he had 10 or more rushing attempts, okay?
His average per rushing attempt in those six games
was 4.1, 6.0, 3.2, 3.9, 5.2, and 3.8, eh, right?
Nothing special.
He had five rushing touchdowns.
Three came in one game.
That great game of, you know,
they purged the demons and beat the eagles
at MetLife Stadium.
It was terrific.
You know, the crowd was chanting his name, great.
But then he got hurt.
So the questions for me with Cam Scatter was one,
can he stay healthy?
You know, he doesn't, he's not a tall guy,
but he's a tough, rough, and tumble guy.
He's got to avoid contact sometimes.
You know, he's gonna initiate contact more often than not.
Can he stay on the field?
Can he be a big play running back?
Can he be a first down maker?
I'm not sure about any of this stuff.
I think he's gonna be a fun running back,
and I like watching him play.
And the jury is very much still out on him
as a legitimate leading rusher on a good team.
We'll see.
Here's what I need from him, Paul.
I need 1,000 yards from scrimmage from him
for him to be a legitimate back in this NFL
and in this system.
For this to be a successful year for him.
Because it's right here, it's right here for the taking.
Since 62 times since the NFL merger in 1970,
two running backs have gone for over 1,000 yards
for scrimmage in the same backfield.
I think it's most recent is 2024
with Jameer Gibbs and David Montgomery.
You've got Tyrone Tracy Jr. who's done it twice.
And he did it last year after starting
the beginning of the season doing pretty much nothing.
The run game, he was giving that offense nothing.
And then he got his opportunity later on in the year
and he showed the dual threat that he could be.
Cam Scatterboo wears that famous 44,
that running back number.
And we all know who that was made famous for,
at least in my generation, Ahmad Bradshaw.
Ahmad Bradshaw played his ass off,
ran his ass off, and kind of kept quiet.
He wasn't doing back flips.
He wasn't invited to fanatics fests
and those sort of things.
But this dude eats for free.
This dude still gets paid and lives off of coming up here,
getting flown up here, doing signings.
People love this man.
They're still little babies, you know,
being baptized or wearing 44 jerseys,
being baptized into Giants Nation,
rocking that old school 44 jersey.
Cam Scatterboo was able to come onto the scene
and be this life, this heartbeat, this lifeline.
He was excited, the woohoo, the back flips,
the taking your shirt off with Ryan Fitzpatrick
after beating the Eagles on Thursday Night Football.
A fan base was starved for that sort of energy.
So now you've got to do even more to keep,
to not only, not so much save face,
but to not only, you gotta do more on the field
so you can do more off the field.
This is what comes with being a star running back
or a starting running back in New York.
And now with the rise of social media
and you're connected with Michael Rubin
and you can go to white parties,
all white parties and all this stuff,
you gotta have yourself a year.
You gotta have yourself a successful year.
And this is the regime to do that.
We're talking about a head coach
that wants to run the football,
a running backs coach in Willie Taggart
that wants to develop running backs
and to have a one-two punch.
And then an offensive coordinator like Matt Nagy,
who's gone from having the Pacheco's
in the backfield with the Kareem Hunts.
It's right there for you.
So if he doesn't want to be just considered a whoa guy
and just a WWE, an actor per se,
it's everything is right here for this guy.
And I think a thousand yards from scrimmage
would be enough for him.
And they got to win, obviously.
But a thousand yards for scrimmage
around eight plus touchdowns,
that Cam Scatterboot, now that 44, that number 44,
you're gonna see people start saying,
okay, that's more of a Scatterboot thing
than an Ahmad Bradshaw.
Not just after one year,
but we at least get into that conversation.
Well, look, Ahmad Bradshaw won two Super Bowls.
That's why when he comes back,
everyone loves him and remembers him.
He was a good player.
He was a tough player.
He was not a great media guy.
He was okay, but he was a rough guy.
He was the opposite.
He was the antithesis of what Cam Scatterboot is.
And that's fine.
You know what I mean?
There's nothing wrong with Cam Scatterboot.
There's nothing wrong with having fun.
He and Jackson Darter buddies, they headbutt.
Great, that's fine.
It was fun while it lasted.
It didn't last that long because he got hurt.
And so now he has to be a really good player.
You know, he was a fourth round draft pick.
He doesn't have to be a star.
He doesn't have to be Saquon Barkley.
He wasn't drafted like Saquon Barkley.
He needs to, and let me tell you,
if they both have 1,000 yards,
I'm not even so worried about scrimmage.
I'm talking about running.
We've seen Giants teams where they had two running backs
with 1,000 yards, right?
If both these guys are nearing 1,000 yards rushing,
this team's gonna be pretty good
because that's what John Harbaugh wants.
And don't forget, Jackson Dart's gonna have
several hundred yards rushing.
So we're talking about 2,400, 2,500 rushing yards
for the New York football Giants.
That's John Harbaugh's dream,
and that will be pretty good.
So, I mean, I don't think we're coming down
on Cam Scatterboot.
We're just saying you did some good things as a rookie.
You did some things you need to improve on as a rookie.
And the aura and story behind Cam Scatterboot
is not quite reflected in the numbers that he produced.
And so you're right, when you put yourself out there
with all this stuff, you don't have a target on your back,
but people start saying things like,
yo, dude, you're only one year in the league,
prove that you can do this stuff.
When you're quiet and don't put yourself out there,
it's all about the football
and no one thinks about you in the off season.
When you do this kind of stuff,
people think about you and they get excited,
but it's added pressure in some ways.
That's fine, now he's just gotta go do it.
Can't wait till that first game against Dallas
where he breaks a couple of tackles
and the crowd, that home crowd, kind of rallies behind him
and then he brings that energy again
back to that home stadium.
People are waiting for that.
You know, me and you, we can't wait for that either.
All right, since we both agree on the last guy,
on the count of three, we're going to name the next guy
we feel like has to have a breakout year
and then I will allow you go first
in terms of why your guy has to go.
You ready?
Here we go.
One, two, three.
Isaiah Likely.
Malik Neighbors.
Isaiah Likely, you go first, Paul,
because I think Malik Neighbors
is somewhat playing with house money this year,
but you go ahead.
I need to know why.
No, no, no.
I mean, here's the thing.
Do we think that he's going to hit the ground running
and practice on Wednesday in White Sulphur Springs?
No, he will not be.
He's not ready.
And so how many games is he going to play this year?
Is he going to be ready for the season opener?
Is he going to be able to play 12 games, 14 games,
16 games, 10 games?
We don't know.
But here's my take on Malik Neighbors.
He has to be the best wide receiver on the team
when he is on the field
for as many games as they can get out of him.
There's no house money here.
You know, he got hurt during the season,
early in the season last year.
He played one quarter of football with Jackson Dart, right?
He got hurt in week four.
His recovery from ACL surgery,
there was more than that.
There was meniscus damage,
was complicated and not swift.
We get it.
And then he had a cleanup procedure in the off season.
So that sent him back a little bit.
There was some scarring and some pulling, I guess.
So this was not a cookie cutter ACL.
You're back in 10 months, bang, and you're ready to roll.
Okay, that's fine.
We hope we haven't seen the best of Malik Neighbors.
That would be a disaster for the Giants.
But when I look at this receiver core,
okay, you're a receiver guy, right, Brandon?
Yes, sir.
Who is the great receiver?
Who is the bust out guy here, okay?
Darius Slayton, we know what Darius Slayton is
from all his years with the Giants.
Darnell Mooney?
I don't think so.
I'm not disparaging these guys.
They are what they are and they're getting paid
what they're getting paid
because the Giants think they are what they are.
Darius Slayton, we know.
Darnell Mooney, okay.
Calvin Austin, okay.
Isaiah Hodgins, we know what he is if he makes the team.
Malachi Fields, he's a rookie, okay?
He's a rookie.
The Giants traded up for him.
He's a rookie.
That's all we have to say about that.
He's not gonna be Odell Beckham Jr. as a rookie,
which leads us to Odell Beckham Jr.
Does he even make the team at 33?
We'll see.
Juju Smith-Schuster has been an effective player in the league
not so much lately.
Braxton Berrios, more of a kick returner.
He's been an accomplished slot guy.
We'll see if he even makes the team.
That's a bunch of 250 to 280 hitters in my mind.
You got some guys who can play, who can do some things.
There's no home run hitter there.
There just isn't.
You're gonna talk to me about Isaiah Lightly?
Fine, maybe he has a great year.
He's not Travis Kelsey.
You know, he just isn't.
He's not Gronkowski.
He just isn't.
Is he gonna lead the team in receptions and touchdowns
and receiving yards?
Maybe, but if he does, I'm not so sure.
It's a great passing attack.
So for when Malik Nabors gets back,
he has to become the player that he was as a rookie,
a really terrific player, a bust out guy,
a guy that when you line him up on the outside
and there's one cornerback across from him,
Jackson Dart thrown to him every time,
and then the defense learns
and they say, we can't do that.
We gotta bracket him.
We gotta have a safety over the top.
We can't deal with him the way we can deal with normal guys.
I think every guy I mentioned of the wide receivers,
you can deal with them without special attention.
So that's why I say Malik Nabors.
I don't need 100 catches and 1,300 yards
because I don't think he's gonna play
as many games to get that.
Once he gets healthy and on the field,
a little bit of a ramp up,
get him back in the swing of things,
and then for as many games as he plays,
I think we gotta nod to each other and say, yeah.
That's that first round pick.
That's Malik, man.
That's Lee.
That's the guys that go in leagues.
That's the guy the fans are excited about.
He's the best player.
He's the receiver.
That's what they need.
That's why, Timmy, he's one of the three guys
that they must have a breakout from on offense.
And because of that, since we have to wait,
since we're sitting there in the waiting rooms
like the dentist, you're sitting there,
you're just waiting, you're on your phone,
you're waiting for that name to be called.
You're waiting for the leak.
Isaiah Likely has to take over.
He is in the position to take over.
They gave him three years, $40 million.
You came with Harbaugh.
Harbaugh has identified you as, hey,
I'm paying you because of what I've seen you do,
what you've done.
You're behind Mark Andrews,
who could be a potential Hall of Famer when it's done.
We'll see.
But Isaiah Likely has had moments,
and a lot of moments in some big games
throughout the course of his time down there in Baltimore
with Lamar Jackson, whether it be as a route runner,
going up and grabbing the route,
or grabbing the rock, or even during scramble drill.
Isaiah Likely has put up some big numbers,
or it looked like he could potentially
put up some big numbers if he was that number one guy.
There are a lot of people on,
when you look at this guy and you're like,
all right, well, he only had 36 catches last year,
30 the year before that.
He had 42 the year before that,
and then 27 his rookie year.
Six touchdowns in 2024, five touchdowns in 2023.
You need, this is the guy to where the offense
is going to run around or be based off of
until Malik Nabors is back.
And we talk about Cam Scadaboo and Tyrone Tracy
being in a system to where, okay,
you've got an offensive coordinator, the Matt Nagy.
I've run pony type personnel before
with two running backs in that backfield.
But he's also seen Travis Kelsey.
And we don't know if Isaiah Likely can have
how much percentage he could be of a Travis Kelsey
or a Greg Kittle, Greg Kittle, the dude from 49.
Yeah, Greg Kittle, George Kittle, George Kittle,
because we haven't seen him as the guy.
And it brings me back to my biggest question mark,
or not biggest question mark,
or the thing that scares me the most
is he's not Darren Waller.
He doesn't come in and there's like,
remember when we saw Darren Waller during the spring
and during training camp?
That dude, I tweeted, I said,
the dude's going to have a hundred something catches
this year.
And he ended up being, he's a rapper now.
And there's no disrespect to them.
He had a really good career prior to the injuries and stuff.
But it was that under performance
that Daniel Jones suffered because of,
because he had a receiving core,
kind of like it was now,
no Malik neighbors type receiving core.
And he needed that tight end to step up
and have big production.
So I feel like Jackson Dart going into that second year
needs Isaiah Likely to come down
and make some of the plays that he made
with Lamar Jackson, plus some,
because now he is the featured guy on this offense
until we get Malik neighbors back.
So I'm thinking for Malik,
a successful season is 700 plus yards receiving.
For Isaiah Likely, 850 plus,
I feel like, okay, this dude,
he earned his money in this offense this year.
See, here's, I will just, you know,
we don't, it's not an argument.
It's just a discussion.
Here's what I would say.
Malik neighbors as a rookie,
did you think he had the potential
to be one of the top five wide receivers in the game?
Absolutely, absolutely.
Okay, so I'm asking Malik neighbors
when he gets back on the field to be that player again,
to be that player again.
Isaiah Likely has never been that player.
So we are asking him to do something
that he's never done before.
Okay, you know, 30 catches, 40 catches,
three touchdowns, four or five touchdowns.
Malik neighbors had over 100 catches
and 1,200 yards two years ago,
and then he got hurt.
So we're saying, Malik,
we want you to pick up where you left off as a rookie
and then ascend from there.
Isaiah Likely, we're saying,
after four years in Baltimore,
we want you to be a different player
from any player that you've been with Harbaugh in Baltimore.
He might be able to do it,
but he's never gonna be one of the top five
tight ends in the game.
Malik neighbors we still think has a chance
to be one of the best wide receivers in the game.
That's why I think they need great performance from neighbors
I think they need Likely and Theo Johnson
to be really good tight ends, you know,
complimentary tight ends in the passing game
and the blocking and things like that.
Okay, either way, they're both important players.
Oh, without a doubt.
All right, with that, I mean, either way,
like you say, both important players
and both have to show up and have big performances
throughout the course of this season when they can,
because this leads us to our last guy.
We both, I mean, everyone agrees on this one.
It has to be Jackson Dart.
Like Jackson Dart has to have that year two jump.
We wanna see what Josh Allen did.
We wanna see what Drake May was able to do last year.
This team, this offense, this franchise
is only gonna go as far as Jackson Dart.
We've identified this guy
and we've crowned him as the franchise quarterback.
Everyone is looking at him because as the future
and he was, I mean, because of some of the things we saw him
and the ability and the things he was able to do with less.
Like you mentioned, neighbors goes down, scat goes down.
You know, offensive line was inconsistent at times.
Jackson Dart put on a show last year
and he gave everybody that hope.
But the biggest thing, Paul,
I think people love him so much
or want him to shine so much
because he is the anti Daniel Jones.
Daniel Jones actually had a better rookie year
than Jackson Dart when we talk about the numbers.
But Daniel Jones is Brooks Brothers, wearing loafers,
you know, more Carlton.
Jackson Dart's more of the fresh prince.
And I think this fan base really wants to see
a rockstar quarterback like that,
but they want the wins to go with it.
They want the Eli type production to go with it.
So it has to, Jackson Dart has to not only take
that year two leap, but he has to have a breakout year
for this team, for this franchise, for this fan base.
Was Eli Manning a rockstar quarterback?
No, he was not.
No, so I'm saying, I don't, look,
Jackson Dart has gotten in some, people look,
are not happy with some of his off season.
People say, some media members and some fans,
a celebrity quarterback, right?
We don't need a celebrity quarterback in the off season.
Jackson Dart is everywhere on social media.
He's been to every event.
He goes to the World Cup.
He goes to the Kentucky Derby.
He posts videos of him catching fish with his girlfriend,
influencer girlfriend, you know, fine.
I mean, I think people sometimes forget
at 22 and 23 years old,
you know, sometimes that goes with the territory.
You do stuff like that and it's fine.
It's fun.
He's out there, but yeah, I mean, is it a bit much?
Maybe it's a bit much for a guy who was four
and eight as a starter last year.
That's another thing I think that John Harbaugh looks
at all that and goes, I mean, I don't think he sees it.
And when he sees it and when he's told about it,
I think he goes, yeah, okay.
I wish I could be doing that now, except I got,
I'm 63 years old and I got to worry about 90 players
and all my coaches and, you know, I can't be running
around going fishing and going to all these games, you know?
I mean, there's some jealousy involved with some people
who say, oh, Jackson Dart,
he just wants to be a celebrity quarterback.
He just has to improve.
Not, he doesn't have to take a quantum leap.
He has to get better.
You know, what I like best about Jackson Dart,
he had 12 starts in only one game.
He threw two interceptions.
That's good.
That means he's seen the field.
He's not thrown a ball all over the place.
We know that he was reckless running the ball,
but he was not reckless throwing the ball.
And it was interesting.
I talked to Brian Callahan, the offensive,
the quarterback's coach and running game,
the passing game coordinator,
a newly hired former Titans head coach, right?
Did some really good things
with a lot of good quarterbacks in the league,
including Joe Burrow with the Bengals.
And I asked him about Jackson and about his running.
I said, he ran a lot last year.
And Brian Callahan said, yeah, well, he ran well.
So he doesn't want to take
that strong running away from Jackson,
but he made a good point.
He said, Jackson, he thinks,
tried to prove how tough he was as a rookie.
You know, you come into league,
you need to prove I'm tough.
I'll take one for the team.
I'm not going to run out of bounds.
You know, it's the first quarter.
It's third and seven.
I get six yards.
I'm diving for that seventh yard.
I'm going head first.
I'm picking up the first down.
I'm taking a hit.
And Brian Callahan said he proved it.
He proved how tough he was.
And Callahan said, I don't think he has to do that again.
He's already proved it.
I'm not sure if Jackson Dart would agree with that
or admit to that,
but I think deep down there is some of that,
that, okay, you proved it to these guys,
to your offensive linemen,
that you will take one for the team
and you will, you know, sacrifice your body.
You know what?
Now you don't have to sacrifice your body that much.
You have to stay on the field
and stay out of the blue tent
and remain the quarterback of the Giants
for 15, 16, 17 games.
And then, you know, when the time comes,
you need to lower your head or run for a first down
or run over a linebacker.
You'll do it.
Maybe not in the first quarter,
maybe in the third quarter.
Maybe not in the first week,
but maybe in the seventh week.
You know, be smarter with yourself.
You know, Josh Allen, who was, you know,
the king of, you know, reckless, you know,
wild cowboy quarterbacks,
he still does it, but he's gotten smarter at that.
There's no question.
So Jackson Darden will get smarter at it.
There's no question about it.
I think he'll be a more efficient quarterback.
The offensive line looks pretty solid in front of him.
So I think it's fascinating.
You know, it's great to cover a young quarterback
because, you know, who has potential, which he does.
We'll see the development.
We'll see the steps forward he takes.
I don't question his work ethic.
I don't question his diligence
and his loyalty and his commitment.
Do I question some of the celebrity quarterback stuff
that people talk about?
A little bit.
It puts more of a bullseye on him, that's all.
And it puts a bullseye and a target on fans
who don't like him to say,
all this dude wants to do is make videos.
Well, I think mostly what this dude wants to do
is win games for the Giants.
Now we'll see how that manifests itself.
Yeah, I just want to defend a little bit
with his off season here,
because if we think about it, Eli Manning,
he didn't get social media until a couple of years ago,
but let's say social media was what it was
back when Eli played.
He would be considered
a rockstar celebrity quarterback as well
because one, he was a Manning.
Two, you play football for the New York football Giants.
It doesn't matter if you win four games,
you win 14 games,
they're going to be talking about
the New York football Giants on GetUp,
on FS1, on all these shows,
whether you suck or you're good.
The Giants are going to make headlines.
People are going to talk about them.
So when you look at some of the stuff that he's done,
I'll leave the politics stuff out of this
because we don't talk about that stuff on Blue Brush.
But if you look at him going fishing,
everyone goes fishing.
If Eli went fishing and posted that picture,
that would have blown up.
If Eli jumped off a boat on July 4th
or threw a touchdown pass to somebody on a jet ski,
that would have blown up.
If Eli went to Fanatics Fest
and they had some weird actors
dressed as offensive linemen
that looked like they played JV football,
that would have blown up as well.
That comes with being the starting quarterback
for the New York football Giants.
I get it, but Eli,
I mean, like I said, nothing you said that Jackson Dart did
was like, really, why'd he do that?
Of course.
I mean, it's normal stuff.
He's having fun.
It's the off season.
He should be doing that, but it's just different.
I mean, I don't like always comparing everyone to Eli.
We all do that, present company included.
And Jackson Dart actually last year
didn't like a lot of that
when he was being compared to Eli with some things.
And it was like, I could see in his head,
he's thinking, I'm not Eli.
I wanna have rings like Eli, but I'm not Eli.
And he's not Eli.
And that's fine.
Eli was pretty boring for his 16 years with the Giants.
He was pretty boring with what he said to us.
And I don't think Eli would have been on every red carpet.
He was married at a young age.
If he went fishing,
I don't know what he would have posted.
I mean, all this stuff with Eli,
his fun loving knucklehead, clever, insightful,
whimsical stuff has all happened after he retired.
And that was by design.
I mean, there was social media when Eli was playing,
for some of his career, but Eli chose not to do that.
That doesn't mean he is the Pope
and that Jackson Dart's a sinner.
You know what I mean?
It just means it's different, but it does.
I mean, I think you have to admit when you do these things
and you put yourself out there,
there's nothing wrong with it,
but anything in social media,
it creates a, not even a narrative,
it just creates a bulletin board
for people to like or not like, and that's fine.
I don't know if Jackson Dart cares about that,
but like I said, I don't question his commitment
and his work ethic.
You know, every so often you see,
he's throwing with guys in Vegas, he's doing things.
Now, can he have a good time with teammates in Vegas?
I'm pretty sure, but they're also out there
wearing those shirts, sweating their you-know-what off
because they're working, so that's great.
Look, Jackson Dart, I think in the locker room,
I've talked about this charisma, personality,
his ability to get older players to play with him
and want to play and block for him and do their best for him.
I think that's all terrific stuff.
I think he is A or A-plus in that regard.
I just think he likes the celebrity life.
I don't think there's any question about it,
and I don't think there's anything wrong with it.
It's just now, Eli Manning is beloved
because he won two Super Bowls,
and so Ahmad Bradshaw, we said,
can't buy a meal in this town and keeps on coming back
because he won two Super Bowls.
So Daniel Jones is a terrific guy,
and he may be able to win a Super Bowl with the Colts,
but he flamed out as a quarterback,
and he did not win enough with a franchise
and an operation that was, quite frankly,
did him a disservice most of the time.
So Jackson Dart has John Harbaugh in year number two
and a new regime and some nice pieces around him,
and now he can write this second chapter,
his next chapter of his career,
and I think we're all looking forward to watching
and seeing how that develops.
To sum it all up, everything you just said
when it came to Scat and Dart,
it goes back to that tweet exchange back and forth
between Jackson Dart, Eli Manning,
where he's like, Eli, you need to wear some chains
or something, and he's like, Dart,
you need to get the rings.
You get the rings here, you can jump off boats,
you can do back flips, you do whatever you want to do,
but this is a ring town, and we'll see.
Young guys, they're gonna have their opportunity.
All right, that's enough for today's Blue Rush.
Keep an eye out for us throughout the course of the week
and next week going into training camp.
We are going to do a training camp preview.
Cannot believe that Giants football is coming back.
Get ready for, I don't even know what to call the season.
I'm just, just get ready for some Giants football.
For Paul Schwartz, I'm Brandon London.
Thanks for watching another episode of Blue Rush.
