AI GeneratedThe Buffalo Bills have signed veteran wide receiver Greg Dorch to their practice squad after his unexpected release from the Detroit Lions. A former Arizona Cardinal with significant NFL experience, Dorch is viewed as a potential solution for the Bills' punt returner position and brings a strong existing connection to the team's coaching staff.
The Bills have made a sneaky good signing, as they have signed veteran wide receiver Greg Dorch to
their practice squad. And he could fill a big hole on this Bills roster and be the answer that the
Bills are looking for. So we'll talk about Greg Dorch's journey to the Buffalo Bills and how he
fits into the Bills roster. But first, welcome in everybody to Bills Digest. I'm Ben Volcker,
and we've got you covered with all things related to the Buffalo Bills here at Bills
Digest. So if you don't want to miss a piece of Crucial Bills news, make sure to hit subscribe

Detroit Lions on Sunday after roster cutdowns, and it was probably one of the more shocking cuts
across the entire league, as Dorch signed with the Lions this offseason with the intention to
be one of the receivers on their squad. Obviously, the Lions went in a different direction.
They probably thought that they could retain Dorch to their practice squad if he cleared waivers.
Obviously, that didn't happen. But even Dorch himself was a little shocked by this, as Dorch
went out today and said this. He said, it kind of caught me off guard. I didn't think I was going
to be put in that position. And yeah, I do think that the Lions did think that they could get away
with keeping Dorch on their practice squad and calling him up to the active roster when the time
was available. But Brandon Bean never sleeps. He swooped in and signed Dorch to the Bills practice
squad instead. And that adds yet another piece to a Bills offense that already figures to be
one of the top offensive units in the league. And that leads me into the sponsor of today's video,
that being Cal-She. Now look, on Cal-She, you're trading directly against other users,
not the house like traditional sportsbooks. You're buying yes or no contracts on the outcome of
events across sports, politics, even the weather. You name it. And look, this is why I'm talking
about the Bills offense here, because they are in contention to have the highest scoring offense
or highest scoring team total in the entire league. And when you're competing with juggernauts
like the LA Rams and the Chicago Bears, it's important that every piece matters. And that's
why I'm really high on this Dorch signing. And if you agree, you can trade $25 on Cal-She right now.
And if the Bills do indeed end up as the highest scoring team of the 2026 season,
you can win $131 in return. And if you are interested in trying out Cal-She,
use the link in the description or in the pinned comment down below and use code

trade. Thank you once again to Cal-She for sponsoring today's video. Now let's talk about
what Greg Dorch did in his time with the Arizona Cardinals, which is where he was before the 2026
season. Now, as you can see here, his last season with the Cardinals, it wasn't great. He got
injured in December, so he didn't make it through the entire season. But I mean, that entire Cardinals
offense was just a mess last year. So there wasn't really that opportunity for Dorch to make an
impact. But he has stuck around with the Cardinals four or five years after being an undrafted free
agent. So he has carved out a name for himself in the NFL, and he was a guy that the Lions deemed
worthy enough to sign to their roster heading into the 2026 season. And actually, Brandon Bean went
out today and said that he was also eyeing up Greg Dorch heading into this offseason. Even way
earlier back at the start of the offseason, he said, Greg is a guy we were having conversations
with when he signed with Detroit. So this is a guy that the Bills have had their eye on for a while,
and it finally fell into place for them. And many are speculating that Dorch could be the answer
at punt returner. Now, we've talked a lot about the punt return battle at Bills training camp and
throughout preseason. There was initially a battle between Mecole Hardman and Ray Davis,
but then they cut Hardman, and Ray Davis struggled against the Steelers. So now it could be Shakir
or Dee Alford, or it could still be Ray Davis. You guys had a lot to say the other day about who
it could be. You even threw out Coleman, Skyler Bell, but it looks like another ring has been,
or another, you know the metaphor, another ring has been thrown into the hat, or however it goes.
As Dorch brings a veteran presence at the punt return position, he's had 99 career returns
with an 8.9 yard average, and he's been in the league for five years now at this point. So
he's got some time under his belt, but it looks like Bean isn't 100% committed to
Dorch being their guy. As Bean went on to say this about Dorch today, he said he's had a lot
of success as a dual returner in the league, so we have options, but he didn't commit to Dorch
being that guy. He also brought up Dee Alford, Khalil Shakir, he still was talking about Ray
Davis, so that position is still up in the air. But Greg Dorch went out and pitched his pitch
as to why he should be that guy today. As he said in return, Greg Dorch said,
I make a lot of decisions, I'm not giving the ball away, and I'm smart. If you look at the tape
and my numbers, I'm dynamic. And if you go and watch some of his highlights, his punt return
highlights from his time in Arizona, yeah, the tape is there. He has that explosive energy that
you're looking for in a punt returner. He can get you some extra yards that could make a difference
in the game. So I'm all on board with Dorch being that guy at punt returner. The issue is, where
does he fit into the active 53-man roster? He's on the practice squad right now, so you figure the
will bring him up at some point, but in what capacity remains to be seen. Now, there's a few
other reasons why Dorch, I think, is a really good fit with the Bills, and here is why. First of all,
he is from Rochester, so he's got that Western New York connection already built in. It's basically
a homecoming for Dorch at this point, but he also has connections across the Bills coaching staff.
During his time in Arizona, he worked with special teams coordinator Jeff Rogers, who
now is the Bills' current special teams coordinator, all four of his years in Arizona,
from 2021 to 2025. And he also worked with the Bills' wide receiver coach, Drew Terrell. They
served together in Arizona from 2023 to 2025. So there is a lot of connections between Dorch
and the Bills, so this, to me, is just a natural fit. And it really does seem like
Dorch feels the same way. He said, I wanted to be here. I feel like I have an opportunity to
showcase my abilities. And again, he's still probably stunned about being cut from the lines
because he said, if you asked me a week ago if I thought I would be a Bill, I would have said no.
I probably would have agreed this was kind of an unexpected development here. But hey, the Bills
will take it, especially considering that this is a guy that Bean had his eye on from the start
of the offseason. So now that he gets the guy that he wanted from the start, I do think that
come week one, we will see Dorch in the punt returner role, just considering he has
that experience. But let me know what you guys think about Greg Dorch. Should he be
the Bills' punt returner? Do you think, yes, he's got that proven experience and success,
or no? Is it just a waste of a roster spot when you can have Khalil Shakir or Ray Davis just do
the punt returning instead? You guys are very passionate about who should be the punt returner,
so again, let me know in the comments. But that'll do it for today's video. It remains to be seen
what Greg Dorch brings to this team, but I am very excited for the possibility of what he has
to offer. So thank you guys once again so much for watching. If you enjoyed, make sure to leave
a like, let us know, and I'll see you guys next time. Go Bills!
