AI GeneratedThe Buffalo Bills are facing a wave of injuries as they prepare for the 2026 season. While wide receiver Keyon Coleman is dealing with a foot injury and several other receivers are sidelined, there is positive news regarding DJ Moore's health and the return of key defensive backs Cole Bishop and Maxwell Hairston to practice.
Things just got very real for the Buffalo Bills as the injuries are starting to pile up. That's
right, we've got multiple Bills updates for you. Chief among them, Keyon Coleman. We've got the
good and the bad from this week at Buffalo Bills practice. But first, welcome in everyone to Bills
Digest. I'm Ben Volker and we've got you covered for all things Buffalo Bills leading up to the
2026 season. So thank you guys for joining along, but let's get right into it. I mentioned at the
top, Keyon Coleman is injured and that's kind of surprising because on Saturday, he caught
the very first touchdown pass in New Highmark Stadium history. It was a beautiful play,
a beautiful throw from Josh Allen. It was a great catch by Keyon Coleman. He was wide open and it
got me excited for what Keyon was going to bring in his third year. Flash forward to Tuesday,
and now Keyon has been seen in a walking boot, which is never encouraging if you are an NFL
player. So the official diagnosis on Keyon is that he has been dealing with a diagnosed
sprained foot slash toe. Now this can range from just a week of recovery all the way to six weeks
or more. So really the severity of the injury is up in the air. However, Joe Brady has said that he
is not very worried about it. But whenever you see one of your receivers in a walking boot,
it does raise some concern, especially for Keyon Coleman considering that his time in Buffalo,
let's just say it hasn't been the most well-received. He's kind of a polarizing
figure. The Bills took him with the hopes that he would be the receiver one in a new
receiver room post-Stefon Diggs. That clearly has not panned out. He was benched last season. Here
you can see his stats right here from last year. Not the greatest. A lot of yellow. We want to see
green on that chart in a lot of categories. He was not reaching those marks. He had a great start
against the Ravens in week one, but then just kind of fell off a cliff, eventually got benched
because his play was so poor. So needless to say, this is a make or break season for Keyon Coleman.
And an injury to start off his third year is not how you want to do it. So I'm really hoping for
Keyon's sake that this injury is not too big of a deal and that he can be healthy for week one
against the Texans. But there's still a lot of time. There's still a lot of time for him to heal.
So I'm not too concerned about that. But let me know what you guys think. How bad do you think
this injury really is for Keyon Coleman? Is it none? Is it just precautionary, the boot? He'll
be fine. He'll be suited up, ready to go week one. Will he miss the first few weeks? Maybe the Texans,
maybe the Lions, because that's going to be short rest. Or is it worse than they are letting on?
Is this going to be something that he is nagging and dealing with the entire year? I hope not.
Let's hope it doesn't get that bad. Do you think he's going to be out till October? Let me know
in the comments. I think he'll be ready for week one. If you agree, make sure to leave a like,
let me know. But that is not the only piece of news for today. As really, there was a lot of
receiver injuries that were listed at practice this week. We can pull up the list here. Yeah,
this is an extensive list of everyone that was not practicing at Tuesday's open practice at
Highmark Stadium. The most alarming part to me is that list of receivers. Khalil Shakur,
we already talked about, Keyon Coleman, Skyler Bell, Quentin Skinner. That's four receivers that
were out. They didn't really have many receivers to throw to at Tuesday's practice. Also, a few
ones that are kind of ringing some alarm bells for me are Ed Oliver and CJ Garner Johnson.
Especially Ed Oliver, because that one was kind of unknown, popped out out of nowhere. So hopefully
that one's not too big of a deal. But we do have to keep an eye on and monitor that front. But the
one name that I'm surprised was not on this list was DJ Moore. Because if you remember at Saturday's
game against the Panthers, well, first of all, DJ Moore played amazing, outstanding. The connection
between him and Josh looked great. But DJ's final catch of the game, he went up for a jump ball,
came down kind of awkwardly on his ankle. And it definitely raised some cause for concern among the
Bills coaching staff and fans alike. However, that does not seem to be the case. As DJ Moore
was on the field on Tuesday, no missed time. He was a full participant in practice. So it looks
like the Bills dodged a bullet on that front. And not only was DJ Moore a full participant,
it looks like he was full go. Like he was the entirety of Saturday's game. Cutting,
moving well, no worries. So you can relax on DJ Moore. There's nothing to worry about there.
So there's good news. And I got one more piece of good news for you guys today. And that is on the
defensive front. Because there was two key starters that did not play on Saturday against
the Panthers. Cole Bishop and Maxwell Hairston in that defensive backfield. They are both back and
practicing with the Bills. So that is a major, major win for the Bills. You remember last year,
Maxwell Hairston suffered a similar preseason injury and it kept him out for a good chunk of
the regular season, which was really a big bummer because the Bills spent a first round draft pick
on him and were hoping for a lot out of this guy. And really, I think that in his limited
capacity last year, he showed some flash. It doesn't really show there. There's a lot of red
here. Let's go off to here so you can see his stats a little bit better. But I thought that in
his limited playing that he did show some flash. And I'm really excited to see what he's going to
do in year two. And it seems like he's excited also. Because this is what Maxwell Hairston said
today. What this was, was nowhere close to where I got last year. So I'm thankful in that regard.
And getting the treatments on my body, getting it strong. I'm just happy I was able to get
back out here. So it doesn't seem like his injury is anything as severe as it was last year. So that
is a sigh of relief. Hopefully he is ready to go for week one. It looks like Cole Bishop will be
ready to go for week one. And I'm a Cole Bishop truther. I think this guy has some juice. I mean,
remember what he did against the Chiefs last year. It was fantastic. So hopefully we can get
some of that back. We'll see if they play against the Browns week two. That is yet to be determined
whether or not the starters will play in that game. They should be practicing the starters week
one against the Browns starters. Or not week one, but at practice this week leading up to that
Browns game. So just stay tuned for more on everything Bills related. We've got you covered
here at Bills Digest. We will see what this preseason game against the Browns holds. And
we will see if the starters will play in that game, including Maxwell Hairston and Cole Bishop.
But that's all we've got for you guys today. Thank you for watching. If you enjoyed,
