Happening now more pain at the pump and here's a look at the average cost for a
gallon of regular in PA, New Jersey and Delaware. It is high and triple A says
for the first time ever, the national average was above $4 every single day in
august. There's something psychological about seeing that gas price under four,
even if it's 3 99, it's at least it's not for something a gallon. But Sean
ed, is this going to have an impact on people who want to travel for the
holiday weekend coming up?
It certainly will. But Jason, here's the thing. According to triple A, most
people won't be traveling anyway and it has nothing to do with gas prices. But
for those who will hit the road, they will feel that punch at the pump. We
have bills to pay and you know, people have families. Matthew Ferro is in a
mood getting gas at a station on Oregon Avenue in South Philly this evening.
He's not happy about the increase in price. The fact that gas is what it is
now, it's honestly ridiculous. Lucky for him, he isn't traveling for the
Labor Day holiday. All the money you put out for gas, you could, you could
be putting away for a nice vacation or something like that. You know, people
who are planning a last unofficial summer vacation or getting away for
three or four day holiday weekend will be doing so at a time when triple A
says we're seeing the highest gas prices for Labor Day weekend ever. We
looked at prices around Philly. We also checked out a few stations in South
Jersey here today in the Philadelphia five county area. We're sitting at $4.
31 cents per gallon. That's more than a dollar per gallon more than we were
today. This day last year, Janet did well with triple A says gas prices have
been unstable since the conflict in Iran began last February and sort again
because of recent fighting in the Middle East. It's pushed up crude oil
prices even higher and 50 to 60% of gasoline is crude oil. But tidwell
says higher gas prices aren't the reason many people won't travel for
Labor Day. It's actually because kids are back in school and families have
resumed their normal routine. Travelers have told triple A that they are
willing to fill up the tank even with the $4 plus per gallon prices and
they'll make adjustments in their spending in other areas. Not Keith
jones. He won't be on the road this holiday weekend for 59. That's that's
a little bit out of pocket with the prices. But uh it's it's it's not
everywhere though as of right now.
All right. So back here live people who do have plans will go by car Jason
Sheba because it is the most convenient and triple A says especially for our
area. It's so close to get to you know the shore, the beach, the mountains. So
the moral of the story is you can play but you will pay like that. I worked on
it. I like it. You know, yeah, we have to laugh to uh to stop from crying
really. It's insane. You know, I even tried the other day when I was coming
from the shore, Sean at passing one gas station and thinking the next gas
station which is from the same company would be cheaper. No, no, didn't work
out. And if you try to get gas in the in between one between regular and
premium, forget about that. Yeah. Or just don't fill up all the way. Yeah,
just have to have. That's exactly what I was going to say. Like the prices
we're talking about today are like regular. So if it's, you know, above
that, if it's premium, forget about it. But like the highest price we saw and
we looked at stations in philly and then we went over to jersey. Let's see
this one's 4 59. The highest we saw was 4 89 on spring garden. Yeah, that's
regular a week ago and it hurt. Yeah, you should see what they are in Cali
and other parts of, you know, they're more expensive. Oh yeah, brutal. All
right, Sean it. Thank you very much. Happy Labor Day everybody.
