Insider Drops MASSIVE Mavs Trade Report...
Sep 2, 2026
We have a massive Mavs trade report and in all honesty I did not expect to make this video
as earlier today I got news from my own personal source that the Dallas Mavericks were showing
increased levels of interest in a certain player. A player we've talked about on this channel before
already but I personally dubbed it as a non-option for the Mavericks for being far too old and far
too expensive. We give up too much just to get that one player back and that player was Drew
Holiday. But thanks to Jake Fisher he officially put out the report that the Dallas Mavericks are
one of two possible destinations for Drew Holiday the other team being the Sacramento Kings. So now
that it's an official report we have to talk about it yet again on why Drew Holiday is being looked
at as an option for the Dallas Mavericks how realistic could it be for us to get him and what
would the appropriate trade package look like. But how's it going everybody my name is Marcel
this is Mavericks Digest bringing you the latest news on everything Mavericks related and before
you start with today's video we're currently sitting at 21,102 subscribers less than 900
subs away from our goal of 22k which I appreciate dearly but if you want to be up to date on
everything Mavericks related all summer long make sure you subscribe you won't miss out on
a single thing. But the Dallas Mavericks as we've talked about several times on this channel are
looking for a point guard there have been many players that have been linked to the Dallas
Mavericks as either possible trade targets free agent signings or mutual interests we talked about
how the Dallas Mavericks and Dante Exum do have mutual interests on a reunion nothing really has
grown from there other than just the fact that we are interested in bringing him back obviously in
the case that any trade or other free agent signing doesn't go through we talked about how Lonzo Ball
Chris Paul have also been trade targets named linked to the Dallas Mavericks even Colin Sexton
who we talked about just the other day but the other player that we that we've heard about is
Drew Holliday from the Boston Celtics and as we all know with the injuries plaguing the Boston
Celtics and them being very deep in the second apron obviously they're gonna be looking to shed
a little bit of salary to try to make things feel a bit better whatever trade that they want to make
this summer is obviously going to benefit them as they're in no way shape or form in a position
to take on more salary than they already have or give up more picks as the next few years are a
question mark for the team but earlier this morning I got a little message from a source a source that
I trust very well they've been right on several things they told me that Derek Lively during the
Western Conference finals was going to be okay it wasn't concussion he'll miss one game and come
right back and he did the night after Kyrie Irving tore his ACL when everybody was told it was a
knee sprain I was told that no they all fully believe that he tore his ACL a few days later
the report came out Kyrie Irving tore his ACL and then I got the report that the Dallas Mavericks
have increased levels of interest in Drew Holiday and I didn't want to believe it to the point where
even I went to Twitter yesterday morning time stamp at 11 05 a.m I'm hearing things and off rip
I don't believe any of it in all honesty I still don't want to believe it now until any type of
package has been confirmed to be put out there it is all still a rumor I'm going to take this with
the biggest grain of salt because it doesn't make sense of all the point guards that we've talked
about Drew Holiday does not fit our timeline or our salary issue he is a good player by all means
Drew Holiday is still a good player he is getting older but that doesn't mean that he's washed up he
can still play defense still facilitate still score he still do those things not at the same
level as peak Drew Holiday but he's not bad either but that 34 million dollar contract is the biggest
biggest issue I have with Drew Holiday and for us trading Drew Holiday we also found out just a few
weeks ago or the other day it came back up again that the Dallas Mavericks are in no way shape or
form looking to trade P.J. Washington or Daniel Gafford but even that's not a guarantee as it was
worded that they are currently not looking at trading them they could still be traded if the
right package comes our way but I don't think Drew Holiday is the right trade package or at least the
right trade target to package up either Gafford P.J. or both you're giving up way too much and
you're not getting back enough and if we take a look right here the official report that came out
the Dallas Mavericks are one of two teams that have been showing the most preliminary interest
in Drew Holiday per Jake Fisher so what I was told earlier this morning was that the Dallas
Mavericks are showing increased levels of interest but there's no current trade package and this
report just just just proves that that there's preliminary interest currently no trade package
currently nothing being offered but it was also reported by Jake Fisher where am I I'm all over
the place that the two teams I've heard the most have been Sacramento and Dallas in regards to Drew
Holiday so how good was Drew Holiday last year as the as the Boston Celtics lost in the second round
let's take a look last season Drew Holiday put up 11.1 points 4.3 rebounds 3.9 assists
0.4 blocks 1.1 steals 1.2 turnovers and 1.6 fouls per game shooting 44 from the field 35 from three
the shooting not that bad the assists decent rebounding decent and I mean if you watch Drew
Holiday or if you just have ever kept up with him throughout his career he has always been seen as
one of the league's best guards when it comes to defense defense wins championships so I understand
why there's interest between the Dallas Mavericks and Drew Holiday I just don't think it's the best
possible player available again we've talked about many other players Colin Sexton Lonzo Ball Chris
Paul those are three that I like more than any other point guard that we've talked about but
Drew Holiday it I get it the defense cool I totally do but I don't like what we may have to give up
for him I don't want to give up any future first round picks unless we get a first round pick in
this draft I don't want to give up PJ and Gafford you're giving up way too much defense for an older
defender of course trade away PJ you open up that role more for Cooper Flagg at the four or the three
yes you trade away Gafford you can pay lively down the road but you're losing depth and there may be
some way shape or form that you do get Drew Holiday but it may not be the package that the
Boston Celtics want but it may be the package that they'll have to take but if we take a look
right here first at his salary he's making 32 million dollars this upcoming season and it
increases to 34 then 37 we've talked about it many times on this channel how once we sign Cooper Flagg
to his rookie deal we're going to be two to four million dollars into the second apron it all
depends on Kyrie Irving if he opts into his player option or if he re-signs into a new deal I'm being
told that there will be a new deal he's not opting to his player option but we'll see in the next
upcoming days however getting Drew Holiday it he's he's old he fits the timeline of Kyrie Clay
and AD more than the rest of the team he's on an expensive contract which would would require way
too many players that we have to give up players that could help Cooper Flagg the next few years
versus Drew Holiday who will be gone most likely at the end of this contract where he'll be 37
now the Dallas Mavericks can have preliminary interest in anybody it's not doomsday that we
are one of two teams interested in Drew Holiday the Sacramento Kings they've got they've got Zach
Levine they got DeMar DeRozan they got Sabonis all players that I've heard are up for trade as
well as the report that did come out they're saying that the Sacramento Kings are looking
for a point guard funny enough they traded away De'Aaron Fox and now they are looking for another
point guard so maybe they make the mistake in trading for Drew Holiday cool you go and get
them I'd much rather go out get somebody else but if the Dallas Mavericks were to go after Drew
Holiday knowing that we're not trying to trade Gafford or PJ then maybe this package is what
gets the job done and throw in whatever picks you may want to make it work but I tweeted out saying
the only package that wouldn't severely piss me off include whatever picks needed to make it work
but I still don't want this to happen we send to the Celtics Klay Thompson Caleb Martin Jayden Hardy
and we get back Drew Holiday throw in whatever picks you want to make it work cool I don't want
to give him any picks at all if this is what it has to be I still wouldn't like it we just got
Klay Thompson in for us to turn around and trade him the next year it feels kind of bad kind of
scummy Caleb Martin you know you're losing defense and those two guys Jayden Hardy I think is gonna
be included in any trade over the summer and then we get back Drew Holiday which cool but we're still
dealing with the same issues if this were if this is the trade that did go down and this might be
the most Mavericks friendly trade package available but if that trade were to go down we still have to
figure out how to get out from the second apron when we sign Cooper Flagg if we don't trade PJ
and Gafford that means we have to extend them next year if we're not out the second apron that
makes it hard to extend them again no reason to panic it's just preliminary no offers have been
given no packages have been tossed together can't really speak for Sacramento I'm sure they're more
desperate than we are we have options stay pat wait till after the draft to really gauge the
market I'm pretty sure that's all that's happening Nico Harrison is gauging the market of certain
players so after the draft whenever if he has any moves he wants to make during draft night
afterwards see where we're at then you make your move it would be a smart thing for your GM to try
to just test the waters now see what it would be what it would cost to get certain players
and then when the moment's right after the draft you make your move so I get it Drew Holiday's not
a bad player a good defender he'd be a great backup just not at 34 36 million dollars a year
20 mil we could have a conversation but when you get into the 30 mil that's the biggest issue and
the Dallas Mavericks issue is we don't have bad contracts a lot of these players on team friendly
contracts the drop off between Kyrie Irving's contract and then Klay Thompson who's the third
highest paid is like 20 million dollars everybody else are on very team friendly deals which is a
good thing for us but it makes it harder when you're trying to trade away bad contracts to
free up cap space but all in all that's all I got the Mavericks are interested in Drew Holiday's
preliminary nothing should come from it but you let me know in the comment section down below do
you think that Drew Holiday is the target for us that we're definitely gonna make a move and he's
gonna take us all the way to the finals or do you believe that this is just fluff nothing really to
talk about and that there's other players worth going after let me know what you think in the
comment section down below we'll have a conversation about it but that's all I got for you guys today
thanks for being smart to the video make sure to check out our twitter and discord links in the
