Because anywhere there are Inuit, we're like, you know, let's make it happen.
We want fashion from all over the Arctic because, you know, there are different styles for different
regions and Ice Cove, again, being a fictional community, let's see it all and not just one
particular regional style.
So we really get to celebrate all kinds of Inuit fashion, circumpolar-wide.
This is like how people actually dress.
We have incredible, especially with outerwear, like we do it like nobody else.
But it was a challenge logistically to get it all made because everything's like handmade.
You know, they're not big shops and factories that make these things.
It's like individual artists commissioned making custom things for a show.
So it is a logistical challenge.
And sometimes we were having like, who's flying from this community to that community today?
Can you carry this parka for us?
And you know, some people, some of our designers, like not all of them use like measuring tape
to measure people.
It's like by eye or like using their hand to measure.
So getting something made for somebody from afar can be a challenge.
We had an Inuit costume designer like that was on the ground with us like full time working
in the department.
But she's from the Eastern Arctic where Alethea is originally from, you know.
And then I'm from the Western Arctic.
And this season we had some beautiful parka that was very much from my region.
And it came a little bit not as assembled as we would have, that we were hoping.
And so, but because she doesn't have any experience with this kind of parka, and especially how
the fur is made, it's called a sunburst.
And so we're like, oh, are we going to have to scrap that idea and just use just a regular
fur hood?
My sister had never even made one, but she's seen it before, or like, they gave it a shot
and they pulled it up.
So phone calls and some instructions.
Calling mothers.
Like, how do we do this?
Sending them pictures, getting instructions.
It was so worth it.
It's spectacular.
Strong, independent women don't live in storage rooms.
I'm done waiting.
Applications are here.
FYI, we don't allow calls.
