Election Day is on Monday,
so here's everything you'll need to get out and vote.
To make sure you're registered and on the voters list,
electors can go to Kitchener's election website.
They simply look for the Am I on the Voters List tool.
Of course, if they're not on the list,
they can still be added to the list
anytime on Election Day by showing up with a piece
of ID with their name and address on it.
University students can vote where they reside
in addition to where they live at home.
And so again, students, as long as they have a piece of ID,
a student ID that has their name and their Kitchener address,
they are entitled to vote here as well.
Even if you don't like any of the candidates on the ballot,
there's still a way to exercise your democratic right to vote.
The tabulators are programmed to allow for undervotes.
And so if they are not satisfied
or choose not to vote for certain candidates,
electors can vote anywhere from zero
to one in those offices or zero to four.
They can actually leave the entire ballot
blank should they so desire to do so.
their ballot would be cast or there would just
be no results coming from that particular ballot.
So what do you do if you don't like standing in long lines
or can't physically get to a polling station?
Voting proxies are available up to and including Election Day,
so the rest of this week as well as Monday.
It's a form that needs to be completed
by the elector that can't make it.
Appointing a proxy can be a family member.
You can be appointed for any number of family members.
You do need to disclose your relationship,
but you can also serve as one non-related proxy.
To try to reduce lines, we do encourage voters
to come at some point throughout the day.
Again, voting is 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.
We do encourage electors to think
a little bit about busy timelines like lunch breaks or after work.
That will help to create a better experience for them.
So remember, if you want to make your voice heard,
Election Day is Monday, October 26.
