America bombs Iran's Larak Island over a Strait of Hormuz threat. Iran retaliates with missile strikes on US bases in Jordan. Missiles are flying over the Gulf again. After a temporary lull, the US launched a pre-emptive strike on Iranian forces at Larak Island to prevent the mining of the Strait of Hormuz—the jugular vein of global oil supply. In response, Iran fired ballistic missiles directly at US military bases in Jordan. In this episode of Decoded, Nikita Kapoor decodes Is a full-fledged Middle East war imminent?

The missiles are flying over the Gulf once again. After weeks of silence, after weeks of the world
thinking maybe, just maybe, the war between Iran and Washington is over, America and Iran are
trading fire yet again. Hello and welcome. I am Nikita Kapoor and you are watching Decoded.
And in this episode viewers, we decode the biggest attack on Iran in weeks, why the United States
really attacked Iran and how this time it could drag the entire Middle East back into the full
fledged war. America bombs Iran, Iran bombs American bases and both sides right now are saying
this is just the beginning. Let's decode the timeline first because who shot first really
matters here. It started on Larak Island of Iran. Larak Island, tiny, rocky but it sits right at
the mouth of the Strait of Hormuz, the most important oil road in the world. 20% of the
world's oil passes through it every single day and it has become a war zone since this conflict
began. A United States official told Reuters that American satellites saw IRGC forces on Larak
preparing two rocket launchers but these were not normal rockets, they were carrying sea mines. Sea
mines to be dropped into the Strait of Hormuz. Washington's logic, well if Iran mines Hormuz,
no oil tanker can pass. Oil goes to 150 to 200 dollar again, global economy collapses. This is
exactly what the US Navy has been deployed to prevent for six months now. So the United States
struck first. Pre-emptive strike. Two Iranian launchers on Larak Island destroyed within
seconds. America says we prevented an imminent threat to commercial shipping but Tehran, Tehran
says something totally different. IRGC says American strike killed and wounded several
Iranian personnel and civilians on Larak Island. They call it unprovoked aggression on Iranian soil
and within hours viewers, Iran promised punishment. An operation named and I'm quoting here
punishment of the aggressor. Then came the retaliation. Fast, furious, Iranian state media
said that IRGC launched a combined missile and drone operation, not at Israel, not at America
but at the bases in the Gulf. Targets, two American-linked military bases in Jordan,
King Hussein Air Base and Al Azrog Base. These are bases America uses for its operation over Syria,
Iraq and of course Iran as well. Jordan says eight Iranian ballistic missiles entered its airspace
and its air defenses intercepted all of them. But Iran is claiming opposite picture. IRGC
statement says we hit American military infrastructure, maintenance facilities,
fighter jet positions, inflicted heavy damage to America. Now who is telling the truth? Damage
claims are not independently verified as of yet but here is what is actually verified and that is
more important than the actual damage here. For the first time in more than a month,
Iran has directly fired ballistic missiles at US military positions. This is not a proxy,
this is not Houthis, this is not Hezbollah this time, this is the IRGC missiles from Iran aimed
at US bases in the Gulf region. The calm that existed since late July has shattered now. So
the big question is why did the United States restart the Iran war? Why Larag and why now?
Let's decode the three reasons. Reason number one, the Hormuz Red Line. America has told Iran
privately for months that you can fight us anywhere but do not touch the Strait of Hormuz.
Hormuz is a global economy's jugular vein. When IRGC tried to put sea mines there again,
US had to strike because if US lets one mine go in and one tanker hits it, every shipping insurance
company will again stop sending ships. Oil stops and Donald Trump knows oil at $200 means recession
in America before midterms. So this was not about Iran, this was about oil primarily.
Reason number two, deterrence is failing. For three weeks, IRGC has been testing boundaries,
small rocket preparations near the Strait of Hormuz, drones near US warships, proxy attacks,
harassing tankers. US felt if we don't hit now, Iran will think we are scared after last ceasefire.
So this strike is also a message that we are still here, we can still bomb you.
Reason number three, the nuclear clock is also ticking. Sources in Washington say Iran has
restarted rebuilding some sides hit in the war. Moving centrifuges, US intelligence sees it.
Larag strike is also a reminder that we can still reach any island, any side you have. Now,
the scariest question, has the US-Iran war started again? Is this full-fledged war? Right
now the short answer is no, but we are one miscalculation away from a full-blown war.
Today we have three flashpoints. One, oil. Strait of Hormuz is now a minefield and waiting again.
One more mine, one more US strike, shipping stops, oil markets are already on edge. If oil spikes,
pressure on Trump to either go full war or back down. Two, Jordan. Iran hit bases in Jordan.
A US ally, Jordan is furious. King Abdullah's airspace was violated again. If Iran hits Jordan
again, US will be treaty bound to defend Jordan more aggressively. That pulls in another country
into this conflict. Three, the damage lie. Iran says heavy damage. US says no damage. What if
next time Iran releases drone video showing a burning US hangar? US will have to escalate.
What if US releases video showing Iranian targets? Iran will have to escalate.
This is how wars restart. The decoded truth is this viewers. America proved that we will bomb
Iran again if you touch Hormuz. Iran proved that we can still fire missiles at US bases. The question
is not if they exchanged fire. They did. The question is what comes next? One more Ladakh
or one more missile over Jordan? The Strait of Hormuz will tell us what will happen next.
